Akers makes his debut on our latest ScoutCast offering, joining us as our third wheel fresh off the back of the most miserable Gameweek points return imaginable. The Scout Picks were to blame apparently – a cunning excuse that I really should keep in reserve; it certainly seemed to keep Mark’s acid tongue at bay.

The new boy isn’t just on board to present his excuses; he’s here to introduce the launch of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup – another chance for the Fantasy Football Scout team to embarrass ourselves with an early exit.

Elsewhere things tick along as expected, with the “All Aboard” appraising the value of this week’s most tempting bandwagons, whilst examining the seemingly infectious condition of jerky knee when it comes to Mr Bale and Mr Carroll. The weekend preview finds Mark adopting a most uncomfortable position; sandwiched between two United fans before he’s forced to abandon the duty free and beach towels to make way for an overly generous selection of Fantasy Island Risks.

    I got 2 free transfers this week, and seriously considering bringing Torres in for Fab and making him captain (yes seriously!)

    I then need a 6mil midfielder to fill Fab’s boots???

    Bale + Ethrington + Barton or Ferguson with Berbatov as your striker
    or
    Nani + Barton + Ferguson with Bent as your striker

    Even though I know it means next to nothing for the weekend, but the fact Torres and Tevez both drew blanks last night makes me feel slightly better that I have decided to avoid both for a 4 point hit and tick with Berb/Drog and maybe Carroll. It has also forced me to reconsider my Kuyt gamble for the weekend, may not gamble after all.

    Weakened team will be:

    Foster
    Evans/Elmohamady/Jara
    Malouda/Nani/Bale/Johnson

        Cos he's jokes, and gets it on with trannies. Apparently at least....

        I needed/wanted to afford Tevez and downgrading Koscielny was the easiest way of doing that. Plus Fulham's good fixtures come in the weeks I need defenders.

        I have thought it through... I'm not a total idiot. 🙂

      Samba Davies for me, struggle to see Newcastle scoring, can see Fulham scoring and Davies maybe involved, can see the Ammers scorin too so no too Salcido. Samba such a threat and I think he can shut out Jones and Co and possibly nod one in too!

        I know, its a pain getting rid of him, particularly now that he's dropped 0.3, but the golden rule remains "select players who are going to play."

        Maybe play him, and hope West Brom get a penalty in the 20 minutes that he does end up playing.

                    Drogba is the safest bet IMO, and I'm just happy with having Tevez, Gerrard and Drogs - who seem to be the three best captain choices this week.

              Ah, gotcha. Very interesting....

              Having Bale, Fibreglass, Malouda, Nani, Drogba and Tevez in the same side is virtually impossible, unless you go for a defence with the likes of Foley, Gohouri, Perch and Simpson!

              Nani is the one who is currently missing out for me, and I'm not too happy about it.

                Same as me.

                I've got my Fabs transfer planned for next week and I can get Nani in a couple of weeks (or next week for an 8 point hit) but it means losing Hart and Bale which is annoying.

                I think Bale will eventually have to go for Nani though and be content with having the big 5... Tevez, Fabs, Drogs, Malouda & Nani.

    I have Gouhori currently on the becnh because I think arsenal may struggle against chelsea and I think Alex is due a goal. I think that the 3 defenders I have are capable of scoring some attacking points!

      Oh and United were very poor against Valencia.. but good defensivley because of Vidic and Ferdinand pairing. I think that if Evans plays in the weekend the dfence mightnt be as good and if they play as badly as they did vs Valencia then Sunderland could nick a few! I do not trust Man u this season. Too many average players..

          They did win yes.. but they didnt deserve to win. The passing was awful.. and if Valencia were playing any good they would have punished them. Also remember that Valencia havent had many tough games yet this season in La liga. The It was only a bit of magic from Macheda and Hernandez that finally won it in the end. Whole midfield played awful. Not many other chances created at all. Nani was the only one who did anything.

            The team wasn't set up to go and thrash Valencia 7-0, is that what you were expecting?

            Utd were set up to contain Valencia, and went to 4-4-2 for the last 10 mins trying to nick it, and it worked. Classic European performance.

              No I wasnt expecting that.I was expecting them to maybe put some decent passes together. They did well to contain Valencia no doubt about that. It was a good defensive performance but creatively very poor. The first half was awful!                 Well they were hardly any worse than Valencia who were supposedly at home. Aside from the Soldado header after VDS failed to claim a cross, Valencia created next to nothing...

                Realistically a side including Carrick, Fletcher, Anderson and Park in midfield was never going to carve Valencia open at will, especially as Berbatov isn't the best at playing the lone forward role.

                I'm sure Utd would have been content with a draw. It would have still been a good result if Hernandez hadn't scored at the end.

                  Yeah but the point im trying to make is that they did not play well. Simple short passes wernt even working. The ball was given away so much and it was not good to watch at all. It was a great result away to Valencia no doubt. But Valencia did look the most likely to score near the end, before Man U got that goal.

                  Im not arguing that the result was not good.. and a draw would have been okay I agree.

      I'd play Elmo and Alex. Toss up between Shawcross and Gouhori, you're probably right that Shawcross offers the bigger threat so i'd stick with what you've got.
