With the season now just a fortnight away, we turn our attentions to a number of kindly priced midfielders in our latest article for members. Picking the right combinations in the mid-price bracket looks crucial to a strong start and with Fantasy managers debating the merits of a number of targets, we scour the statistics to assess their previous form.

For the purpose of this article, we’ve selected seven midfielders, no more than 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, who have proven popular picks so far and/or are set for some favourable opening fixtures – potentially affording them the chance to hand us an early-season bandwagon. Comparing their respective statistics, we also dig deeper into seasons gone by in our attempt to ascertain the best options for our initial lineups.

      Id save .5 and get Evans over shaw. Rotation worries me with shaw and lvg likes Evans enough to consider him for the captaincy. Use that to upgrade Luis to Terry/ Cahill perhaps. Or Cameron to a spurs defender.

      the defence seems very pricey and henderson normally has trouble racking up points if you go for 2 4.5 defenders instead of shaw and luis you could upgrade henderson to sterling if u want to cover liverpool if not maybe mata or lamela is looking good

      Targett won't play. Cameron and Bruce are not nailed on. Keepers aren't great too but you at least have rotation there.

      Crazy thing is his point scoring despite those low amount of minutes...regardless of any increase in minutes, if he still scores as he usually does, he's a steal at that price

      I think he'll get similar minutes.

      With players like Dzeko, you just got to get them at the right times.They're never worth it for the full season.

      I found it most useful for the ticker and the big numbers article which summarises each gameweek using stats and helps identify someone who has been unlucky and due to explode soon or someone who is actually scoring poorly as they are just that/not advanced enough etc. worth it for that alone! And only about a pound a month

    hey all,

    after much tinkering, i've come up with this team. grateful for any pointers for this first time fantasy football player:

    De Gea (Gilks)

    Felipe Luis, Debuchy, Lovren (Chambers, Duff)

    Siggy, Henderson, Mata, Fabragas (Besic)

    Lukaku, Rooney (C), Diego Costa

    My concerns are:
    A) Will Henderson will feature for 90 minutes?
    B) Will Chambers start GW1?
    C) Thoughts on Besic as a cheap midfield bolter?
    D) Thoughts on Lukaku? If not, other suggestions for the forward line?
    E) Rooney have good captaining potential for GW!?

      For your first time, you learned pretty well how to build a decent side. But the concerns you have to answer you

      A) Last year, out of a possible 3420 minutes for a whole 38 game season, Henderson played 3128 mins, you it's up to you to decide if based on that, he'll play a lot. Liverpool added more players so who knows

      B) Since Metresacker and Verm will probably miss gw 1, he might have a chance at CB to play

      C) About Besic, I don't know how much game time he's gonna get so can't answer that really

      D) Lukaku has a rough fixture list to start off with but he has done well these last two seasons so maybe keep him

      E) Yes, he has

    Anyone waiting on the Chelsea defence before investing?

    Seems like some sort of conundrum at the minute, not only that, but the fixtures don't look particularly enticing in the short-to-mid term. Would much prefer to invest elsewhere at the minute.

      The keepers, are okay to me. Krul will probably get a clean sheet here and there and he's gonna make alot of saves so that's fine, the midfield is great, front line, Dzeko will probably start so it's fine for now I guess and the defense, not too sure if Cameron is nailed on to start for Stoke., Overall, pretty good team
