With the season now just a fortnight away, we turn our attentions to a number of kindly priced midfielders in our latest article for members. Picking the right combinations in the mid-price bracket looks crucial to a strong start and with Fantasy managers debating the merits of a number of targets, we scour the statistics to assess their previous form.

For the purpose of this article, we’ve selected seven midfielders, no more than 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, who have proven popular picks so far and/or are set for some favourable opening fixtures – potentially affording them the chance to hand us an early-season bandwagon. Comparing their respective statistics, we also dig deeper into seasons gone by in our attempt to ascertain the best options for our initial lineups.

    thanks, hooiveld to clyne is defo an option.. jaask will likely change to green for the same price but for now i have him in.. Wham/QPR and Palace rotate unbelievably well so that's the combo i'm looking for..
    
    not planning on playing zamora at all, so wanna save the 1.5m there. if i keep it as is, it gives me room to manoeuvre if and when sanchez/hazard/fabregas/aguero start the season fast!

Do you think it is going back to a cheaper 5th mid to upgrade Bojan? The defence rotates well I may change the members but probably not the teams they come from now.

  If Bojan starts well, with his fixtures, you might be benching points often (or have benching dilemmas)...I'd go for a cheap mid and buy Bony/Jovetic/Dzeko etc.

  Mariappa and Wisdom will be a problem that you will likely have to take hits to solve early on. I do not subscribe to the idea of benching a 5th midfielder who is more than 4.5 at the start - budget does not afford such a luxury. I think you need to make up your mind on formation and then distribute your funds accordingly to maximize their bang. Pieters also a little worried about Muniesa, maybe, am backing Huth in my squad at the moment as my route into Stoke's defense.

    It would be 5 man midfield but personally I like my subs to have the capacity (and ideally rise in price) to score points if needed. You are right though you would not want to really be benching any of those mids as they are very good.

        I've learnt my lessons and am never rotating goalkeepers again. Its too much pain when the away goalkeeper with a hard fixtures scores a huge points haul and the keeper at home who you play gets 2 points.

        Exactly. The amount of times this happened last year was crazy. If you have a set and forget keeper for the first 7-8 gameweeks it just gives some peace of mind.

  Downgrade Krul to a £4m keeper, should be happy enough playing Bego in every game up until GW 12. Davies > £4.5/4m too, to save some dosh. Could also downgrade Hoilett/Arnie to a £4.5m then upgrade the other to a big-hitter.

Anyone playing the ultimate game?

My midfield currently consists of:

Ramsey, Fabregas, Mata, Sterling
Albrighton and Tiote (more than likely for the bench)

Do you prefer

a) Eriksen and Steven Davies
b ) Sigurdsson and Snodgrass +1m

Leaning towards (b) as I feel like having a few mid priced potential point scorers is a decent way to go with the ability to swap and change things? I also havent played this game before so any opinions would be appreciated!

Think I've got my defence sorted! Thought I'd share it on here because it's pretty decent. Three of the defenders play for defensively sound teams and it's not too expensive imo at 25.0. It starts to go a little wrong towards the end (GW15), but I guessed I'd probably make a transfer by then anyway.

  Interesting. It looks very very good. All those players seem to be nailed on. But there's this comfort about having a big hitter or two in defense from teams that will finish in the top 6-7 so you can play them week in and week out without having to worry about rotation.

    I'll be playing Jagielka every week bar 4 weeks I think. And Clyne and Huth I play a lot as well. A Chelsea defender will end up in there at some point in the season.
