With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

    RMT / 10 please:

        6/10

Rooney is crucial from the start, Herrera looks like the man to assist the assister (quality player, not FPL suited though) and Wickham is depressing.

        get a 4.0 5th defender, davies -> 4.5 and redistribute the herrera/Johnson/wickham cash IMO.

Maybe go without Studge for those tricky openers (Rooney in)

Your mid needs a lot of work. Where has the money gone? Sturridge may not be fit, Wickham a punt. No need for a 4.5 with DDG.

      Thoughts on this?

      Trying something different.

      Krul

      Evans - Luis - Wisdom

      Fabregas - Ramsey - Sterling - Mata - Siggurdson

      Diego Costa - Rooney

      (Bojan - Duff - Upson)

      That mid tho.

37 mill on GK+DEF is too much, Mannone/Clyne/Caulk/Davis can all be replaced (not saying all should)
      Herrera -> Mata/Cesc/Ramsey

I really like that. Only concerns are in the backline with pretty much all 5 of your players being rotation risks. Last thing you want is to spend transfers on your defence so early in the season.

On the one hand I think that Cameron had a good season, Bardsley isn't very good, etc but yet on Stoke forums they don't seem to mind Cameron leaving the club if they have to decide between him and Wilson to leave. Surely not nailed if a number of fans wouldn't mind him going as they don't expect him to feature much.

looks decent but same issues most people seem to have is that all your defence bar Evans is not nailed on.

it just seems crazy to start a season with 3/4 players that are not 100% starters. its going to cause serious transfer headaches. if you have 2 defenders that are not nailed on at least your bench can cover.

Looks good Jonty, my one main concern would be the 0.5 in the bank. If you're already planning a transfer for GW2 that you won't need the extra cash for, then I'd say using it on a defender so you have someone better than N. Taylor to start might be worth a go. Or upgrading Duff just for long term security.

Hi, cheers for the feedback. I don't have a particular transfer in mind. Just know that a transfer will need to be made unless I've struck gold and got the season's perfect squad early on. The 0.5 just sort of ended up that way due to the combination of players I want.

      A few issues:
Courtois and Krul are too much for GKs. downgrade Krul to 4.0m.
Look at Kompany's and Barkley's early fixtures - i would avoid.
      Can will not play regularly...
      Jovetic is serious gametime risk.

Really great idea for an artical Jonty. And nice team. I prefer Siggy to Henderson for the time being, as Liverpool's points will come elsewhere via Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling IMO, then Gerrard on set-pieces. Swansea will look to Siggy and Bony for the most part. Henderson could be a big player for us this season though for sure.

Adebayor is a brave choice. I expect Pottichino to get the best out of Soldado. How about a Hull striker? Not a glamorous pick, but with those fixtures Long or Jelly could bring home the bacon?

i agree with you about Hendo as well. He is going to have a massive season for us but from a fantasy point of view don't know if he will explode. He seems to be off most people's radar and is easy to draft in if he plays more attacking.

The Spurs striker is a concern, Kane has scored a few pre season too. New manager so we don't know who he favours yet.

Austin is a good 6 punt as well as the Hull duo

cheers for the feedback - I plan to have siggy at some point ...I also see not having him v ManU as stealing a march on all those that do and will be starting him..can't see more than 2pts for him in that game. He's priced so low that I can handle a few price rises if he becomes essential. This is the key for me...have a team that can easily get bandwagons.

              Don't get them GW 1.

Wait till the managers show their "hands" with team formations and selections.

Spurs/Swans have tough GW 1's anyway.

    Hazard - Mata - Eriksen - Snodgrass - (Albrighton)

Tempted by Eriksen > Ramsey and Remy > Bony... just really not sure. All tinkered out and still time to go!

I would go with the proposed changes you mentioned. Personally I'm concerned about Eriksen as an FPL prospect, he was frozen out by AVB only to be re-introduced by Sherwood. Not sure how Poch will use him yet especially with Lamella given a lot of praise by the new manager.

Between Remy and Bony I'd back the latter, mainly because he is a solid performer for Swansea whereas Remy probably won't be as effective at QPR. Both are doubts however as they could potentially move clubs before the window closes.

    De gea / gilks

Azpi Davies van aanholt / Chester duff

Mata fab Ramsey arni / albrighton

    Rooney Costa Austin

    1.5m in the bank

    Gw2 Austin-pelle

A lot of United and Chelsea with no l'pool or city but should be a good start I hope?

Best advice is don't plan a particular transfer. Have money in the bank but more often than not you will need that money for another unexpected transfer. What if Rooney gets injured first game? Then you could be stuck with Austin for ages. Best to pick players that you'd keep beyond gwk 1.

    DDG - Gilks
    Luis - Debuchy - Mariappa - Vlaar - Chester
    Alexis - Fabregas - Mata - Henderson - Marney
    Rooney - Costa - Bojan

Not sure on an Arsenal Defender so early with their fixtures up to GW7.
    Mariappa, Chester, Vlaar nailed on?
Fairly happy with the attack, could look at replacing Fabs for Silva/Nasri?

Marney should be nailed on for Burnley, surely? Not much attacking potential as the likes of Albrighton but is he going to get the game time?

I have been looking at the idea of getting Speroni and a United defender. Palace were looking really solid towards the end of last season under Pulis. But I am not sure if I feel comfortable playing him every week.

I wouldn't be happy with that defence

Luis -> Not quite nailed, cannot 100% guarantee he will start so at 6m its a risk.
Debuchy -> Not the easiest fixtures straight away, also with Mertesacker being eased back in expect defensive frailties
Mariappa -> Not really good enough to start, talk of Palace signing a new fullback
Vlaar -> Future in doubt, linked to clubs in europe

Henderson, Marney, Bojan - 3 questionable fantasy assets is probably too much.

Some great points Ryan, thanks. I will look to address these issues.

        - Preferred Chelsea defender? Worth the extra dollar for Cahill over Azpi?
        - Sort of agree on the Debuchy point (Arsenal fan) Would love to think Chambers was set to play the first couple of GW's.
        - Playing with the idea of getting Speroni to cover the palace defence
        - Struggling with the budget defenders....

Henderson can easily be changed to Siggy, but with Bony potentially leaving is he as desirable? Bojan is a bit of a punt with the good pre-season he has been having and Stoke's fixtures.

    Currently on this:

    Foster (Myhill)
Baines - Terry - Wisdom (Yoshida, Mariappa)
Mata - Fabregas - Ramsey - Young (Albrighton)
    Rooney - Lukaku - Dzeko

    Young reasoning is here: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/08/05/scout-scribbles-monday-friendlies-round-up/?hc_page=4#hc_comment_7754514

And if he doesn't play week two I already have Yosh and Mariappa who could both come in. Main concern is not being able to afford Hazard if he explodes GW1, but I think for the first few games Cesc will be better.

If you want Man Utd & Chelsea defensive cover I'd consider Courtois/Evans instead of DDG/Luis. It's the same cost but with doubts over the Chelsea defensive line up offers a little more security and Evans has a bigger goal threat.

Also, chances are you want Chelsea defence for the long haul whereas you may decide to move away from Man Utd's back line - easier to shift a defender than a goalkeeper in my experience.

Zamora is more or less a dead spot in your team - never a fan of that tactic personally but I can see why you're doing it.

As a spurs fan I would suggest you stay well away from Adebayor. Whilst I can't make any long term predictions, I would say Soldado is 99% certain to start the first game v West Ham. With Lamela and Eriksen both nailed on and available for 1.0m less, I would suggest you switch to a 3-5-2 and go with one of those if you're intent on having a Spurs attacking option. Our last friendly v Schalke next week will tell us more though.

Telegraph game? I've got a team but I set it up weeks ago and haven't revisited it since - cheers for the reminder!

I'd class Davies as the weak link in that defence purely because of Europa distractions, I'd consider losing Giroud who may get a bit more rest this season and playing 4-4-2. Should be easy to get a Chelsea defender in then.

Costa, Bojan and Tadic and Siggy..that's a lot of unproven players. Can see an early wildcard with that. If Bojan and Tadic are no good you only have Hoilett on the bench...also they are hard to replace money wise. Where do you go from Bojan...Zamora? There isn't alot of good quality cheap strikers.

I'd ditch one of Bojan and Tadic if I were you and use the money to upgrade one to either Dzeko or a 8-9m mid.

But I'd also swap out Baines for the first part of the season (I think in the first 7 weeks Everton play most of the top sides). Also frees up a few extra quid for upgrading the midfield. Personally I have Nugent as my 3rd striker, I think he's a potential cheap goal mine.

    Speroni 4.0
    Baines Evans Clyne 4.5 Wisdom
    Mata Fabregas Tadic Lamela 4.5

Basically catching the high scorers atm. Thinking of bringing Sterling in for Tadic or Lamela by downgrading my defence some more. Thoughts appreciated.

Ooh, a lesser spotted Baines! Love the inclusion - I'm risking waiting until GW8 but good luck to you 🙂 I also like the Clyne pick but Southampton scare me slightly.

Double City attack is also a big differential but it could pay off handsomely, you'll be sweating on Aguero's return and who to drop very quickly though.

I like it because it's different but it could be one punt too many - you'll either have a great start or an early wildcard 😉

I'm the same with Baines, can't see him being massively effective in the first few weeks but after that time he's an almost certain starter. I'd advise against weakening the defense and having too many make up players though. Like GreenWindmill says, great start or early wildcard.

    Current team:

    DdG (Gilks)
    Ward - Debuchy - Pieters (N.Taylor, Bruce)
Ramsey - Mata - Fabregas - Sigurdsson (Albrighton)
    Rooney - Costa - Jovetic

Strongly considering replacing Fab's with Sterling and swapping Debucy with Luis.
Also Jovetic, don't quite feel the confidence 'bout him, so I'm tempted to downgrade to Bojan or Agbonlahor and upgrade defence or midfield.

    Your thoughts??

If you were replacing Debuchy I prefer Evans in that price bracket - kinder fixtures, less card prone, good goal threat. I understand if you don't want to double up with DDG though.

Jovetic is more or less nailed for GW1 but after that it becomes a guessing game as to when Aguero is back and who makes way. I guess it depends how far ahead you tend to plan.

A word of caution - Bruce isn't expected to be a starter, you're better off looking at Wisdom, Duff, Moore... Other than that it's a nice team.
