With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

    Yeah, thinking Henderson may not be a great bet at first...thanks! Any comments on the defense welcomed as well?! Maybe lower some of them to a rotating Stoke / Swansea, etc. Get rid of Cahill and Kols. and pick up cheaper D? Or stick with what I got?! Thanks!

  Personally i would downgrade Clyne and Jedinak by 0.5m each whcih would give you a very decent team with Haz instead of Fab.

    I know Baines is expensive but week 1 looks ok. I could downgrade Baines to
    Jagielka which would free up some money to bring Siggy in for El Ahamdi. Although Routledge might be an interesting option if he plays up front up front in a front 3 for some fixtures. He scored two in that position in pre season at Reading on Saturday.

  Far too much money in your defence. Downgrade 3 of your 5 defenders to the 4m - 4.5m bracket (think Cameron, Taylor, Wisdom etc). I also think 10.5m is a bit much on keepers. You could downgrade Lloris to a 4.5m (Mannone?) as you have Davies for Spurs cover. The money saved should allow you to upgrade Bojan and Ward=Prowse to better midfielders, with Young as your 5th MF.

  I'd be slightly concerned about your defenders. Would you be confident playing one of Chester, Duff or Vlaar? Villa are relegation candidates and Duff plays for a newly promoted team. I'd have a think about downgrading Shaw to a 5m, there are so many good options in defence at that price. Then spread the 1m about your defence. I like the MF. As for the attack, will Dzeko definitely start?

  Will you be playing 352? Would probably downgrade de jong to a cheaper mid maybe albrighton and then upgrade snod/siggy to mata. Vlaar will not be fit for gw1 i think i heard maybe upgrade to ward for that last 0.5.

    Depends on the gameweek. 3-5-2, 4-4-2, 3-4-3 all are options (I'm hoping Weimann will chip in, really).

  Personally I'd downgrade Eriksen to Siggurdson to free up some cash to invest elsewhere. You could also downgrade Hazard to Fabregas as well as a means to secure funds.
  
  I agree that you need a big defender in there. Davies is the obvious one to upgrade because the manager said he is competition for Rose at LB. Bojan needs to be upgraded as well, consider Pelle.

  very tempted by him. Seen a lot of him in the Eredivisie and he's a really good player. Can do everything, score assist. Just not track back or play in a very structured system. Needs a free role

  Personally I prefer the former. No doubt they will swap positions a lot during a game and I think whoever plays mostly in behind the striker will benefit the most. Lamela has been playing in the #10 role a lot in pre season.

There seems to be no easy answer. The cash saved with F + J is very tempting.

  1) I like the F pick over H, the 1m can be well spent elsewhere.

Hi folks. I'd appreciate any advice you could give on my team:

Begovic (Myhill)
Terry O'Shea Wisdom (Vlaar, Mariappa)
Mata Hazard(V) Henderson Sterling (Sigurdsson)
Rooney(C) Lukaku Jovetic

Nothing left ITB!

- I was tempted by Mannone & Guzan in goal, because I'm not sure if Myhill is nailed on? But I think Begovic is a better pick nearly every time anyway?
- Defense is likely to be Terry and two from the other four, depending on fixtures.
- Is it a bad idea to have two LIV midfielders? I'm thinking that I could switch to a 4-3-3 if they have a bad fixture (e.g. GW2 at Man City).
- Have I made the right choices for captain & vice-captain?
