The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Timbo tells us he is  happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week  but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

      Most people assume that he'll start in the hole until the world cup players are back in full swing. Then probably back to the double-pivot.

          Charity shield will tell a lot and nailing down 2-4.0 def as well.

      Looks solid.Monitor Debuchy at the weekend. If he doesn't start he might be a doubt for the weekend. Consider a united defender for the openeing weeks.

        Yeah they got a tough opening and I was going to see how Sanchez settled in, then mata or Hazard > Sanchez with some tinkering

            I think fab could be playing in the holding 2 mids instead of the attacking 3 for Chelsea. I think Ramsey is hugely over priced too and with the addition of Sanchez to accompany ozil, cazorla and Walcott, Ramsey could also find himself playing deeper.

      Nothing really wrong with it, good team. My only slight concern would be question marks over enough of the defence starting - I think Luis, Wisdom and Bartley are all slight risks.

      Bruce not guaranteed starts. Shaw is coming back from injury I think so may not play opening game.

      Not sure about Bojan personally but he has been getting some love on here.

        Disagree re Chelsea mids - for me it is Hazard or Costa, but not both. Chelsea are not that compelling going forward....

          and most of the goals came from midfield last season so a chelsea mid is probably more important than Costa. i have both.

        Took ur advice and got rid of Kos for Ward. Got rid of Lukaku for Costa and swapped Herrera for Schurrle. Now going to blame you for any bad start. 🙂

      Way too much in defence.
      Drop coleman- bad fix to start and injured. Pick a 4.5 defender.
      Change zabaleta for a Chelsea defender.
      I'd also downgrade lovren to a 5.
      Downgrade Aguero to Rooney and upgrade Zamora with the cash u have.

      Are you an Arsenal fan? Too much Arsenal considering their opening fixtures.

      You need more United coverage to start with. Their fixtures are excellent for the first 8 or so GWs. Rooney is an absolute must during that period (or until RVP is back).

      Courtois is perhaps too pricey and not 110% nailed on to start with. Downgrade him to DDG and upgrade Shaw to a Chelsea 6.5 perhaps? (I personally think Shaw is going to have an excellent season, so you might wish to keep him).

      It is a good, strong team but I feel as though there has been insufficient consideration of fixtures.

    This is my team as it is for GW1, it can shift from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2 depending on necessity.

      I would hold off on Cameron and B.Davies until we know more on their security of starts. Moore also a risk unfortunatly.

      Downgrade Henderson and boost defence?

      Perhaps the best front 7 that I have seen. Only suggestion would be to improve your defence and bench. They will be needed. I lost in my private league last season due to being too top heavy and not investing responsibly on my defence.

      Yaya to Hazard and use the 1m to upgrade the a couple of the defenders? That said, I do love Yaya.

      I think both are nailed on. Not seen much of VA so can't say what he brings to the table but expect SUnderland to do well this year so both are viable options.

      Really good first 11 but you need a better bench. I don't like the idea of playing the same 11 every week (especially Begovic away every other week)

    Hi!

    My first RMT of the season. I know Arnie, Siggy and Austin will give me lots of £££ on the bench each week but they give me piece of mind concerning rotation and I can easily downgrade one of the mids for a big hitter.

      Don't like Luis, Shaw, Lamela or Pelle picks.

      Would downgrade the 6m defenders to some decent 5-5.5 options e.g. Ward, Debuchy, Evans etc. Use that money to upgrade Lamela to Ramsey or upgrade Fabregas to Hazard and switch Lamela to Eriksen.

      Pelle a bit of a no man's land. Either go cheap as chips and get Austin who is on pens and will allow you to have a killer midfield/second striker, or upgrade him to someone else in the average price bracket but more proven e.g. Bony or Lukaku

    Thinking I should have a bit more heavy hitters in defence, but this would mean sacrificing the mids a bit. This is my first year back for a few years so I'm a bit rusty.

    Azpl would be a concern to lose minutes to Luis Felipe.

    I have Shaw and am concerned because he didn't start against Liverpool.

    I know Sturridge is questionable to start, but is Lambert nailed?

      no chelsea coverage might be a little concern for me... but i dunno who are the definite starters. Too many variables in Chelsea squad for my liking.

      Would also worry about week one in that Giroud may not start. Personally I'd go tried and trusted in Eriksen over Lamela but I know that's just personal taste.

    I'm considering scrapping Vertonghen/Bruce in favour of a defender from west ham and a defender from crystal palace with intentions to rotate home and away. I'll have £10m for 2 defenders - which defenders of the two clubs should I pick? I'm currently on Demel/Delaney
