The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

    Would be very grateful for any comments on this team.

    My thoughts:

    - Mariappa not nailed on - however I want a Palace defender, and can switch to Jerome Williams if he takes Mariappa's place.

    - Davies not nailed on - might Kaboul be the best choice?

    - Sigurdsson's role - if he's not in the hole then he is a less attractive prospect, however he was great value a couple of seasons ago and can't see anyone else at £6m I would prefer - any suggestions?

      Maybe Ward instead of Davies? He's 100% nailed on, a Palace defender (solving that problem), and coming off a good year. Also maybe Puncheon at 6m? Wouldn't call myself an expert, but that might work.

    I know I'm overthinking this, but I have two possible teams I think I'd roll with now. I have Option A currently, but Option B seems much more versatile. Let me know which you'd prefer.

    Option A:

    Bego (Gilks)
    TERRY, Evans, Ward, (Rio, Wisdom)
    Mata, Sterling, Eriksen, Siggy, (4.5 (was Albrighton, not sure who to use now))
    Rooney, COSTA, Dzeko

    Option B:
    Bego (Gilks)
    LUIS, Evans, Ward (Rio, Wisdom)
    Mata, RAMSEY, Sterling, Eriksen, Siggy
    Rooney, AUSTIN, Dzeko

    Feel like option B would let me take a wait and see approach with Siggy by rotating him with Austin. At the same time, I lose Costa, who might become the #1 overall player in short order.

    Hi all, should I go for:

    Mutch, Rooney and Jovetic or

    Young (who could well be a good differential early on), Sturridge and a max. 7.5m striker? And if so, who?

      I couldn't think of a 7-7.5m forward (thought about pelle or Rivière) but neither are worth more than Bojan or Fletcher IMO. I've gone for fletcher

    Stolen the back 5 from someone who had a really nice rotation (thank you to whoever that was!), but still wanted some benefit from Uniteds early fixtures so took DDG in goal. Feel like I may have overloaded my front 3 while neglecting my 4th midfielder (would have to play 3-4-3 most weeks), anyone got any thoughts?

          He'll get more than Davis but I think you have too much of a strike force tbh. It is amazing but maybe Costa to Haz for a start then choose a cheaper str to release funds (I want jovetic)

      Too much in defense, both Bojan and Shelvey are 8th attackers. Attacking rotations are always much better in your head - trust me on that..

          I would say keep, Krul is underpriced. The advantage with Hazard is that you can jump on any new bandwagon after the 1st week, so you can choose between Lamela or Eriksen for example..

          Just from what I've read on here....

          Krul/Foster seems to be the keeper rotation of choice, but I like big Bego.

          Felipe is not nailed on, and for 6 mill is a bit of a punt. I'd swap O'Shea for PVA if you're intent on sticking with a Sunderland player.

          Coutinho is a form player for me so I'd go Sterling. I just don't like Nasri's face! Siggy was played out on the wing in his last match, but Monk says that he needs to swap things around which hopefully means putting Siggy back in the middle.

          Costa and Roonpig good. Bojan a punt but a good one.

              personally I dont like Vlaar, he is only good for 2 games and Bartely might not start if Swans sign someone. Rest is good although I cant tell who your keepers are
