With just six days remaining until the 2014/15 season gets up and running, City and Arsenal go head-to-head for the Community Shield this afternoon. As expected, both side’s starting line-ups have been heavily influenced by a lack of pre-season action for a number of World Cup stars, though Arsene Wenger hands all three of his main summer signings competitive debuts:

Man City Starting XI: Caballero; Clichy, Boyata, Nastasic, Kolarov; Navas, Fernando, Toure, Nasri; Jovetic, Dzeko

Arsenal Starting XI: Szczesny; Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs; Arteta, Wilshere; Alexis, Ramsey, Cazorla; Sanogo

For City, Stevan Jovetic has the chance to continue the form which has harvested five goals over the summer so far. The Montenegro international is partnered by Edin Dzeko up top and, whilst the likes of Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure also make the XI, Arsenal will be optimistic of taking advantage of an experimental City backline, which sees Gael Clichy fielded as a right-back once again and Aleks Kolarov patrolling the left.

Arsene Wenger names Mathieu Debuchy and Callum Chambers in defence alongside Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs. Aaron Ramsey owners will be buoyed by what appears to be a move to the attacking midfield three alongside Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez, with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere sitting in front of the defence. Up front, Sanchez’ role out wide means Yaya Sanogo gets the nod after his four-goal demolition of Benfica in last week’s Emirates Cup, with Olivier Giroud warming the bench again.

The game data base will be updated very shortly with all new players added. We aim to have new players up as soon as possible following their arrival to the Premier League. We hope you enjoy the new game and best of luck in the coming season.

    I'm doing it.

    Rooney, Costa, Sturridge.

Started in a 4-5-1 formation and gradually squeezed all my cash further up the pitch.

yeah, but you get sweet FA up front below 8m

In MF you can have the likes of Siggy for 6m and he is actually a decent player.

I had Jovetic, but today's performance from city was well off the pace so I think i'll wait for them to show some form.

Arsenal looked sharper than a ma'fa'r and Liverpool are looking full of confidence. I'd rather have a piece of their pies

        DDG in goal.
Cahill, Ward and Chambers (I'm wildcarding gw3) with two subs available (Hutton and Wisdom)
Fabregas, Ramsey and Siggy, with a Young punt for the short term.

feels solid enough to me given the fixtures.

Granted, i'll need one of Chambers, Hutton and Wisdom to get the nod, but i feel confident that at least one will do.

Young has to start the season after his PS form. I'll wildcard before he loses his spot.

            1) Because its all guesswork until we see the managers hands. Too many uncertainties, World Cup players not yet up to speed, 4.0s and Ramsey's yet to show themselves etc.

            2) Playing it after GW3 gives me two weeks to catch the risers while user activity is at it's highest. I can get a run on the competition in terms of team value and pick up all the decent bandwagons without losing points.

Apparently due to Martinez treats pre season as fitness and training exercises. He said he doesn't analyse the opposition which is key to the way he plays. Although not winning any games has to dent confidence

Bojan popular with many on here? Was skeptical at Stoke signing him but pre season has been good and fixtures are strong. My concern with a 5.5 striker is how to get a decent replacement in if he's rubbish or gets injured.

There are a couple of other potentials at that level to replace, e.g. Austin and Fletcher but really I think you can only justify him if you have 5 midfielders you are willing to play.

Was discussing him on previous page.

My concern us he is not a through the middle striker!

I want a striker for my 3 forwards picks

Theres Murray or Gayle at CPL if you need to replace.
But Stokes fixtures before the winter look tailor made for Bojan imo.

Murray a good shout actually and with QPR/pal rotation, can get him Mutch for 11. Interesting alternative to 12.0 Austin/Puncheon

Defo, and its my preferred one tbh.
I like Hoilett over Mutch atm cos Hoilett is scoring in preseason but Mutch could be the man long term in the QPR midfield.

I might just go Giroud over Dzeko.

Dzeko is bound to cause frustration eventually, as he always does.

Giroud scored 16 goals in over 3000 minutes last season while Dzeko scored the same number of goals in less than 2000 minutes. Negredo is currently injured for 2 months and Aguero isn't fully fit so Dzeko will definitely start. It would be foolish to go with Giroud over Dzeko just because of 1 game in which City played with a sub-par squad.

I'm actually going with Giroud because I think he will start the season well and score plenty of goals. I missed the game today and not basing anything about this decision on it ...

Bent played in the last game and hit the bar in the dying minutes. He's back to fitness but not nailed.

Hutton and N'Zog look more likely to play. I'd say 8/10 confidence in Hutton starting GW1 and 7/10 in N'Zog.

Bent would be about a 4/10
