With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson
Rooney – Costa – (Zamora)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

What are your thoughts on this lot?

    DDG / Gilks

Terry / Pieters / Chambers (Hutton / Bruce)

    Mata Ramsey Eriksen Siggy (Isgrove)

    Rooney Costa Dzeko

    0.5m in bank

question is spend the money to boost the defence or keep it as it is?

Downgrade DDG to a 5m keeper and get a second keeper instead of Gilks who rotates. Pierters isn't nailed on, nor is Chambers and I'm not so confident about Hutton either. Nice midfield, I have the same, except I went for Fabregas over Eriksen and a 5.5m striker over Dzeko/Jovetic.

      Interesting one!

You have a lot invested at the back and I think that's impacting your midfield too much.

Albrighton is probably injured so you need to pick someone else.

Yep, Marney. Or even Wanyama. You won't get goals or assists, just a steady tick-tock of 1-3 points (bit of a card magnet).

I didn't say that Debuchy was a bad choice just that Lovrn imo was better.
Debuchy does get himself booked a lot. Yes he has assists but Lovren has the goal threat.

I think you need a better keeper. Neither WB, nor Newc, are that solid at the back.
I'm avoiding Man U defenders until we see how their inexperienced CBs cope with the new system. Davies isn't nailed on, try Kaboul. The rest of the starting 11 is strong. I'd get a more attacking sub than Rodwell. Get Taylor or Chester over PvA. And throw away Wisdom while you're at it, for the same reason as Foster. 6/10

First post for me guys, so any help appreciated.

    Team as it stands:

    De Gea (Krul)
    Koscielny Cahill Evans (Yoshida Bruce)
    Yaya Ramsey Fabregas Sigurdson (Hoilett)
    Rooney Jovetic Naismith

What do you think? Main concern is that Yaya is taking up so much budget. Considering Yaya + Naismith out, Costa + 5.5 in. Or Yaya to Sanchez and leave a cheapie up front and playing only 2 in attack... Thoughts?

    Thanks

There is every chance that Yaya could do what he did last season and everyone on here will be scrambling to accommodate him.

Having said that, I wouldn't want to rely on Naismith week in, week out so you need to find a solution for that. I think the answer probably lies at the back - you have such a lot invested there, I think you need to lighten the defence and upgrade Naismith - maybe Nugent? Or Austin?

      Defence and GKs look great!
Yaya looked out of form yesterday so maybe swap him out yeah and upgrade Fab to Haz?
Leaves you money to improve Naismith with - maybe to Austin?

Getting Costa in sounds good too though.

I do like something about B - Its different but your bench is obviously and issue. A is definitely more balanced/template.

B - Worth upgrading Henderson to Sterling. Downgrade Sturridge and using this to upgrade one of your 4.0's? Thoughts?

@ Roscola, and your team as listed

    Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
    Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson
    Rooney – Costa – (Zamora)

    Operation, free up cash

Fabregas/Ramsey -> Eriksen/Lamela. I think either one of these Spurs players could provide great value this season. I'd consult the fixture list as to who should be dropped. Surely it has to be on of the two pivot players but no doubt it'll be an agonising choice.

    Begovic -> DDG
Evans -> 4.5 (Stoke defence is a shadow of its former self, the will miss Pulis)

Consider Hendo instead of Siggy as well (due to wing duties). If you subscribe to a loose interpretation of 'coverage' then you could keep Fabregas and Ramsey and sell Sterling to Lamela/Eriksen.

I hear Jovetic had 5 shots on goal though? And that's with a second string team feeding him. Imagine what he'll be like with a full strength team around him? I don't know, there is the Dzeko/Aguero problem to consider.

That team looks lovely, and Fletcher does have such a lot of potential.

I was thinking of a similar GK rotation. The rationale being to downgrade bench player and use the extra 0.5 to get Mannone, then watch how SUN get on.

Kaboul?? I would get a Man Utd defender.

      Good solid team.

Thanks for the reply. Mannone/Begovic rotate pretty well for 30 or so games. Man U certainly offer value and promise, but until I watch solid defensive displays with my own eyes, I'm steering clear. Kaboul seems to have won the battle with Dawson to partner Vertonghen, Spurs should tighten up at the back under Poch.

Good on ya Sab, I hope you get plenty of replies, those that help others certainly deserve it.

Those 4m options aren't great and I think you do need to downgrade Deguchy to balance things out a little. A small downgrade to Ward will be profitable imo. PVA looks a solid bet at 4.5 for the bench.

Auston -> Bojan is also a possibility, personally I don't think there is much between these two options as fantasy picks and another 0.5 could be valuable in defence.

Cheers Ryan. Austin is my dark horse so blindly going with him. Yes Debuchy to Ward and Moore to a 4.5 makes more sense. Thanks

I like the cheap defense...it's the way I usually go

One thing I would do is:

      Austin - Bojan
Elliot - Krul (or another 4.5 who will play each week)

This way if keeper gets injured first week you don't have to panic!

You're right about the rotating 4m defenders. I would also want a second keeper option to rotate with Begovic for those trickier fixtures. Are you set on Hazard? Fabregas looks fit and raring to go, and shows no sign of his deeper position stopping his attacking threat. He'll save you 1m, to get two 4.5 defenders.

Going cheap at the back and strong in midfield and attack, thoughts?

    Krul / Foster

    Ferdinand / Taylor / Mariappa / Cameron / Wisdom

    Ramsey / Fabregas / Mata / Sterling / Siggy

Don't like Krul/Foster, simply because they don't play behind good defences. Ferdinand, Taylor, check, check. But Mariappa, Cameron and Wisdom aren't the best for reasons of rotation risk and (for Wisdom) West Brom's defence. Mid and Att are very strong.

MDF and FW positions are very strong - but it would drive me insane seeing so many points on my bench from one of those players.

If you went Sigurdsson to Marney, for example, you'd free up 1.5 and could feasibly do:

      Mariappa > Ward
      Cameron > O'Shea
      Foster > Begovic

      Certain starters with good defences.

Im not sure id be happy with how that defence rotates. I am jealous however that you have managed to get the same midfield as me without sacrificing Costa, like I had to.

    My Team is

    Green (Speroni)
    Very good rotation

    Chambers Manquillo Evans (Clyne Taylor)
After swapping Collocini for Chambers in GW3. this defence is work of genius when it comes to rotation, the hardest fixture one of my defenders has to deal with in the first 9 GWs is Manquillo at home to Everton in GW6. I challenge you to beat that!

    Ramsey Fabregas Mata Sterling (Sigurdsson)

    Rooney© Bojan Adebayor
Im thinking Adebayor over Bony\Giroud\Dzeko\Pelle because he always does well with a new manager. In the first 6GWs he has easy fixtures to the likes of Sunderland\QPR\Newcastle\WBA and Arsenal - Plenty of goals and hes always amongst them. I could swap to Pelle though if things don't go to plan as Southampton must have the easier fixtures of the lot in the first 12 GWs.

    Thoughts?

Wowsers. Good planning, although are you planning for Chambers to play every week?

And I don't think it's certain that Manquillo is nailed on. He's only 20 and the sum of his experience of top flight football is 6 games for Athletico. I don't think Rodgers will want to throw him straight into the Premier League after just two weeks training with the team.

Nice thinking about Ade though. He could be brilliant.

Chambers will be used for GW1 only and in GW3 Collocini will come in to continue my rotation plan.

You have a good point regarding Manquillo but the good thing is all the other RBs at Liverpool are also £5.0. He played 86 minutes against Dortmund which gave me confidence to buy him for GW1

Unless you are planing on rotating Mutch with one of your players, its better to downgrade him to a 4.5 and use the money elsewhere

Any thoughts on my team appreciated. Trying to balance it out a bit. I'd also like, if possible to free up about £0.5 - £1.5 to make early transfers flexible.

    Schmeichel / (Krul)
Luis, Azpi, Simpson / (Wisdom), (Chester)
Sanchez, Hazard, Erikson, Siggy / (4.5)
    Jovetic, Dzeko, Rooney

    Critique so far:

"Luis and Azpi are fighting for the same place"

A very valid point, these are Chelsea's defensive options
    Azpi / Cahill / Terry / Luis
    Azpi / Ivan / Terry / Luis
    Azpi / Ivan / Cahill / Luis
    Ivan / Cahill / Terry / Luis
    Ivan / Cahill / Terry / Azpi

Basically I think Jose will rotate these options pretty much equally. 60% of the time both Azpi and Luis should play, the remaining 40% at one will play. Having both to begin with allows an easy downgrade once we see who the nailed on defenders in the £4.5 - £6.0 category are.

    "Simpson may lose his place"

I'll have to look into this, I did hear that QPR were looking at wing backs. He's currently chosen mainly to rotate home and away with Chester.
