The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson
Rooney – Costa – (Zamora)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

      Mannone is far from nailed in first choice and they have difficult fixtures when rotating Newcastle and Sunderland, Swansea on the verge of signing Fernandez from Napoli for 8m so Bartley is a no go area now

    The more I think about it, the more tempted I am to double up on Evans / Jones. There's such a lack of 'nailed on' starters elsewhere that those two plus Lovren seems a good week in week out defence for £16.5m.

      Zamora the only real weakness, you'd have to think Azpil is set to start with last year's form but he wont score you much besides cleanies.

      I think if you're playing 3-5-2 you need your defenders to be a bit more nailed on.

      Every 4-5 games Azpil should be rotated and it's not clear how the Bavies and Rose situation will unfold. You could be left playing Ward, VA and Duff on a semi-regular basis.

    Krul/Sigurdsson/Yoshida/Mariappa

    Ramsey + Sanchez is a bit of a gamble, contemplating swapping Sanchez out for someone, perhaps Sterling...

      I had both originally but took out Sanchez and strengthened elsewhere.

    -3x4.0 defenders is poor i know
    -Happy for Debuchy to later become a 4.5 and use money to upgrade defence, happy to wait and see if Collins/Marriappa or Stoke 4.5 nail a spot down.
    - Moore could be Bruce
    -Marney could be Isgrove

      Austin for Bojan gives you a bit more to spend

      Chambers will apparently play the first few games for Arsenal which gives you a bit of time to see who nails down a spot elsewhere

    Foster - Krul (any better 4.5 options?)
    Ward - Lovren - Clyne (Wisdom / Bruce)
    Ramsey - Fabregas - Mata - Henderson (Shelvey)
    Costa - Rooney - Pelle

    I could probably downgrade Shelvey to Albrighton and upgrade Bruce on Defense. Aside from that and better Keepers, I am happy with this. I think at 6.0 Henderson gives grat value for money and Lovren should put up numbers similar to what Skrtel did last year on set pieces. If any of my higher priced guys start slow, at least it will be easy to change.
    Any thoughts or tips??

    I am going out for a swim, and a bit of rowing. So when I come back, I expect this RMT to have the most replies ever.

    I am set on having Sturridge and Rooney, defo not bringing in Costa, as I think he'll "flop"
    Bit worried about the defense, and thinking I maybe should downgrade Tadic, and then upgrade the defense?
    Other constants I want in my team and have been there since the 1st draft is: Eriksen, Siggy, Ward.
    So play all you want with my team, just don't remove Eriksen, Siggy, Rooney, Sturridge, Ward 🙂

    It's been suggested that I should be looking at other strikers other than Bojan. Really tempted by his pre-season but would be more tempted by (a) Steven Fletcher if I thought he'd start. (b) Glenn Murray was a beast for Palace before his injury so he could be an option. (c) Frazier Campbell at a better side than Cardiff could be good too.

      Zaba hasn't played in preseason so may not start the first game, Bruce is not nailed on. I would lose Lovren for a 4.5 def and use the money on Wanya if your planing on rotating Siggy and Bojan

      Quite some money in defense with azpi unsure to start.
      Midfield-wise I'd go Eriksen over Sterling personally.
      But looks pretty decent all in all!
