The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Alex is not thrilled about having Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench for the first Gameweek so he is open to alternative suggestions for his fifth midfield slot. He is adopting a wait-and-see aproach regarding Chelsea midfielders, Arsenal and Manchester City. Is he right to wait?

      It looks alright. Hoillet is a bit dodgy though so consider alternatives, Davis might be an option.

      Pros: Poyet loves him and he's very versatile (LB, RB or CB)
      Cons: PvA is more attacking. Get him instead.

      No Costa or Studge the only thing that really worries me here. Could do Giroud/Mata to Sturridge/Siggy but not sure if it's worth it really..

      That is absolutely marvellous. Play Naismith GW1 (will almost certainly play, and possibly CF if Lukaku isn't ready).

      I approve of Puncheon over Siggy. The only problem is a lack of Mata. I'd say Silva > Mata

      Choice 2, for sure. But I'd rather have Mariappa than Lovren, at least to begin with. Clean sheets are the bread and butter of defenders and Liverpool have yet to prove they can manage them.

      If you do that, can you keep Mata?

      It is certainly a bit different. I'm not keen on Debuchy because of fixtures, and definitely not double Arsenal defence with eve, MCI, TOT, che in the first 7 weeks.

      And I don't believe in Bojan but he is helping you get a fabulous midfield so go for it.

    The question is who to upgrade and to whom. Thinking Jovetic to Dzeko/Giroud/Lukaku. Also, Eriksen or Lamela? And should I strengthen the defence?

          yes over fabs and sterling. fabs will be deep in a defensive team, will do alright but not great. sterling is an interesting one, studge is still the main man though and a great captain to have

      Lots of money at the back with limited points potential for it IMO. Not keen on Debuchy's fixtures or Lovren's clean sheet potential. Davies may well rotate or even be behind Rose - wait and see.

      Really don't like Barkley but he could prove me wrong. Albrighton is injured so look elsewhere - Isgrove? (not a certain starter but big upside if he does play) Wanyama? Marney is the new 'safe' choice.

        A biased fan here, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool tighten up a lot this season. They looked really solid in pre-season to me, barring the United result.

      I think Bojan is bound to fail, and I believe strikers are crucial as they are "captainable." Also, 5.0 for a QPR defender goes against my grain, but I know Caulker is a thing around these parts.

      Albrighton is v weak, soz about late reply. Downgrade Costa for me to lukaku or a 8.5 to upgrade albrighton. Sigurdsson becomes hendo.

      It looks very strong to me. Strong Bench. You can rotate playing Siggy or Bojan. Personally I'd upgrade Mutch or Debuchy

      9.5/10 could just keep the money for adjustments once season has started. I'd start with Giroud but would want to change to Lukaku soon after match fitness kicks in

      I think most teams have three top top midfielders and two strikers. It's a good team but you have only two top mid and one top striker IMO.

      Albrighton to Mutch? Hazard to downgrade as although nice fixtures hes had a v bad wc and pre season. Hazard to sterling upgrade defence.

      I think it's too much of a risk having 3 4mil defs. you could end up with only 2 starting defs if things go wrong
