The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Alex is not thrilled about having Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench for the first Gameweek so he is open to alternative suggestions for his fifth midfield slot. He is adopting a wait-and-see aproach regarding Chelsea midfielders, Arsenal and Manchester City. Is he right to wait?

      Take note that Shaw hasn't started again tonight! David de gea instead for Man u cover?

      Coutinho great player but only steady on FPL so i would consider him a risk, could work though. Would prefer Eriksen personally.

        Coutinho was a pain last season but I have faith, also .5 in the bank for Sterling maybe? Eriksen has been quiet so far in preseason (minus the freekick - yido!)

          I dunno, he hasn't played that much pre season at all, he may play but is it worth all the headaches of worrying if he'll play or not? If you want Man u back line i'd go De Gea and hes cheaper.

          Eriksen has been steady pre season but the fact he's on all set plays, minus pens, sells it for me.

          202 points last season, he's a season keeper anyway. So unless you would want to captain him most weeks then that inconsistency is nothing to worry about in my opinion.
          Should remain on pens too so thats a huge plus.

      Looks good, in midfield and attack. The general consensus on here though, is that Sturrisge isn't worth the 11.5M. Mind OShea, he's injury prone. Clyne should be a very good pick IMO.

        Cheers, yeh I may swap OShea for Van Aanholt. Im fairly sure that Sturridge will score well, possibly better than last time out. Pool setup to score goals and Sturridge will be the main focus of all that effort. Can easily downgrade if required tho 🙂

        The thing about the sturridge price tag , whilst i tend to agree its a bit over priced , it is in the bracket as Rooney & Aguero so makes moving around easy

    Not sure if i need to change some defenders for better rotation. I'm also thinking of swapping out Costa for Dzeko for a stronger defense.

          I'm a Saints fan, personally, I hope he starts, but New manager = new formation and we have lots of CMs and we have three places to be filled by three of Schneiderlin, Davies, Cork, JWP, Reed and Taider. We've played about with all of them in pre-season for our mid-field three. I have no idea who's going to start though.

              Yeah, Most of out team is pretty uncertain. The only players nailed on our Back 4 (and we're still looking to strengthen CB, so maybe not for long), Pelle upfront & Tadic on the wing. Having said that, Davis has been involved in almost every pre-season game in CM (certainly more nailed on than Wanayma, more threat too).
              A hidden gem could be Isgrove for only 4.5. He's an academy product been involved on the wing opposite Tadic in every pre-season match - it looks like Koeman rates him, but I'm waiting to see if he actually starts against Liverpool before picking him (again, we've been linked with multiple wingers as well, so who knows what our team will look like come transfer deadline day).

        Thanks for the feedback, I just like the look of the Tot defense and Kaboul seems to be the most secure at the 5.0 bracket.

        I agree on Haz vs Costa. I just don't like taking too many risks to start with. I'm looking at a Haz to Sanchez, Rambo to Siggy at some point which will free up some cash for either a striker upgrade or in defense.

      Few options at £4m this year. Wisdom seems a sure starter, unfortunately he plays for West Brom. Bartley may have just found himself in a starting role after Chico's exit, but that situation remains fluid. Bruce is somewhat viable but not a likely starter. I'm clueless with regard to Burnley and Leicester, but I'm not sure if much is to be expected of those defenses regardless.

    Ok after much reading stats etc, think I'm sorted with a balanced team with a strong mid and defence, good rotating keepers and the 2 non-casual punts upfront

    Finally found my defense rotation (for first 8weeks or so)
    - Evans every week
    - lovren every week except 2 and 3
    - naylor for weeks 2 and 3
    - rotation between wisdom, Chester and naylor's other weeks. Only need wisdom for weeks 1 (should play) and week 6 (that's a long time from now)
    - speroni and green rotate great at GK
    - this might be slightly more expensive than other defense but gives me 4 very positive match-ups every week for the first 8

    Any reactions?

    Rotating Cameron and Williams, Isla and Ward.

    Albrighton in emergencies.

      I like this, not far off my own. However, I'm not sure if Cameron will start—or even play for Stoke—and the other options in that back four are pricier. I ended up dropping DDG for Begovic (I went with Krul as a second GK just in case but no reason you couldn't stay with a 4.0) and got Evans in for Utd defensive cover.
