The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

          If you're planning for a 5-2-3 then your team looks good. But why 5-2-3 if I may ask..
          You could also get Ward instead of Clyne

            Fixtures of Clyne/Yoshida is too tempting to ignore + wid a strong back 5 and a not so mid i prefer to be fully cooked rather than half baked to end up wid neither Ward nor Davis/Hoilett to bail me out

    Got 1.0m in bank. Where should I invest it or should i just save it for later?

            That's what I think so going with a 4.5 mid
            What do you say about keeping that 1.0m in bank and use it later to upgrade Lamela/Siggy/Jovetic if they fail..

                I was thinking about getting Mutch or McGeady to rotate with Siggy but then I thought it will be difficult to redistribute that money into other spots and will cost me 2 transfers instead of 1. What do you say?

                Doubt that the 4.5 mid is going to be used so early in the season so no real point in upgrading him. Maybe just upgrade the defense if you want to keep lamela rather than a mata or silva

      Pretty solid team. Personally Im unsure of siggys appeal and would gamble on young or arnoutovic and would prefer an ars def to jones.

      I like Steven Taylor the best out the 4.0 lot. Just not in Game Week 1. Also, Duff is attractive because Burnley and Hull rotate all season long, assuming you're bullish on Hull's back line, as I am.

          Personally, I think my money is safer elsewhere for now. There are other premium options up front with easier fixtures. I think those going without Costa will end up dropping Sturridge if Costa explodes and that will make his price drop, especially with the GW2 and 3 fixtures he has (mci, tot).

          That's just my thinking though, feel free to disagree.

          As for Hazard, I think he will be less relied upon to score goals this year, so I think he will score less. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not. Who knows 🙂

    Going for an early wildcard so loading up on Man U and Che
    I'm not sure on Luis, hard to pick a Che defender
    Chambers and Naughton good value for the start, Taylor to fill in Gw2/3
    Hoilett and Bojan are good value punts i think.
    No city players in there is a worry, thinking maybe Luis to a city defender?

    Jerome Williams is finally added to FPL and he's 4.5 😯

    He's 19 years old and has only 4 matches in his senior career according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerome_Williams_(footballer)

    Can't believe he's not 4.0.. Pricing is ridiculous..

    Reasoning:

    I originally had Begovic in goal with 3 chelsea players of Cahill, Fabregas & Costa. However, I really wanted Sterling in my team as well as I think he will explode this season. By taking out Fabregas for Sterling I was able to bring in Courtouis for Begovic. I think Chelsea will be very strong defensively this season so I'm able to double up there with the attacking cover of Costa. It allows me to fit Sterling into my team who if he carries on his form from the 2nd half of last season, would reach almost 250 points!!!

    Planned transfer of Henderson ---> Sigurdsson after gameweek 1.

    What do you all think?

    any feed back would be great. have changed my team about 10 times today...

    i have thought about downgrading my mid for costa or sturridge. however to get either i would need to downgrade 2 mids. i think team is balanced as jelavic is the only striker at hull now that sagbo is injured. lamela/eriksen/tadic/hendo. any case for them? tempted to have both hazard and fabregas if i dont get costa in. also jovetic seems to be main man for city in pre season. views. please destroy my team as going to try and make final changes tonight?

    Had an absolute mare of a season last year.... been considering this as a line-up but I dunno if it relies too much on a few players playing above their value...
