The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

        I wouldn't play De Jong against City anyway, looking at his fixtures from GW2 onwards he could be a good bet.

        Ulloa isn't locked in - may go Bojan, Nugent or Fletcher.

        Apart from those two players, what do you reckon?

    This team good to start? The four cheapies rotate very well. I only have a few remaining questions.
    1. Terry or Cahill?
    2. Henderson or Young? This spot is tough, I am keeping it for De Jong or Tadic if I downgrade any of the big front 3.

      I would downgrade Ferdinand to a 4,0 and upgrade elsewhere? Ferdinand is injury prone and may suffer with fitness.

        Yer, well I'll play 3 at the back most weeks. I have 2 big hitters Terry and Jones who will play every week. Chambers will play this week so I will be able to see how Swansea line up against united and transfer out 1 of them if they're not in the starting xi before their easy run of fixtures.

    As good as United's early fixtures are...I am a little bit worried about having 3/7 of my attacking players being from the same team.....especially with the injuries that United have at the moment.

    I'm of the opinion that Young will be nailed on for the month that Shaw is injured and the fact that he is on corners, and the fact that he is so cheap means he is a MUST.

    If I do get rid of Mata which of these is better?

    A - Mata to Sterling Van Aanholt to a £5.0 defender
    B- Mata to Sterling Jovetic to Dzeko
    C- Mata to Silva

      Costa looks good, Siggy has potential (in the hole), Jovetic could score high until Aguero fit

    Why do people keep saying i've spent too much on defence when defenders are a lot cheaper that good midfielders/strikers and average the same amount of points?

    The fact i have 3 top strikers too should see me through quite nicely. and my midfielders aren't bad either considering im going with a 4-3-3

      Last years highest scoring defenders scored quite a few goals which got them up there. Defenders are only good when they get a CS or more. From what I remember the early part of last season, CS were few & far between.

      Give it a whirl and it might work out.

      7, Good defence - although Chambers will only play GW1.

      Yaya will troll this year, Hazard so much better value at 10.0, or even downgrade to a 9.0

      Austin not good enough as a 3rd striker IMO. Try and fit someone else in or downgrade him and play 3 5 2

    Thinking of trying to bring in hazard, just not too sure how to do it

      Downgrade on Pelle because he's a newbie, wait to see how he performs first.

      I prefer Krul/foster (save .5M) or Speroni/Green - these rotate well
      like the mid
      prefer Austin/bojan as the 3rd forward.
      we don't know enough of Southampton, fire sale & new gaffer.
