The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Kicking off today’s RMT discussion is Evs.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

    Any advice would be great, been tinkering around, not sold on tadic, bojan, chambers and Luis, no money in the bank

    Mata Hazard Ramsey Tadic (Wanyama?? (Any 4.5 mid playing))
    Rooney Diego Costa Bojan
    Think tadic will do well, especially with dead ball duties and playing in the hole...tore it up at Twent, but could go Barkley (eve) for 0.5 less
    Chambers only for a week or 2, but could downgrade PVA to a 4.0 and turn chambers into lovren if I go Barkley above
    Bojan has great fixtures and is cheap and guaranteed 90 mins IMO, good form too...otherwise gabby for the same price...but he is useless lol
    Luis is a rotation risk but I really see Chelsea's first choice back 4 as Luis, Cahill, Ivanovic and Terry
    Very happy with the rest if the squad but open to hearing where my holes are, and what options are there for my dilemmas.

      Alternatives for the 5.5m forward, I came up with
      -Weimann: same Villa boat but at least he's young and a couple of seasons under the belt already
      - S Fletcher: injury concern I guess? good track record otherwise
      - Berahino: decent stats given the minutes he got, could work if he becomes a regular starter

      Overall looks good, Luis and Chambers are risks a lot of people are taking it seems!

      Personally, I'd 'downgrade' Hazard to Fabregas and put Mata in for Sterling (I understand you'd have to take Jones out in order to do that) and I'd also take Bojan out for Long.

      Solid. There's not much to add as you'll be aware of all the risks.
      - worried Fab will play too deep
      - you might be stuck a couple of weeks in with a mid containing two poorer options if Young doesn't pay off
      - you might have a bit too much cash invested in defence/on the bench. Save on Davies or Caulker?

      Looks pretty good. Not a fan of 1 keeper option personally, but it can work out.

      Could drop Rodwell to a 4.5 and Dzeko to Jovetic to free up funds to get a 2nd keeper/ upgrade Bruce to guarantee playing time?

      That said, if you were to make changes you have a pretty solid team there.

    a) Jovetic & Marney: Means playing 3-4-3, Jovetic is a big gamble but could come into his own
    b) Bojan/Ulloa & De Jong? Gives a better option of 3-5-2 or 3-4-3

    If the latter, will bench De Jong in GW1 and then play him GW2-8 versus Villa, Palace, Soton, Hull, Stoke, Swansea & Leicester.

        I can't get the 0.5 unless I downgrade Ward, Dzeko to Jovetic or Terry to Azpi/Luis.
        Newcastle has good early fixtures so it should be ok to play Krul every gameweek at the start.

      Good but you cannot play Wanyama every GW, it will be a disaster. Can you do Haz to Fabregas and Wanyama to young?

      Ah, the big top three. I think you've done well fitting them in. I'm not so sure about the Wanyama/Albrighton rotation though, if you plan to play 3-4-3.

        Yeah, I suppose. Young is most likely a short-term punt though. I might switch between a 3-5-2 and a 3-4-3 the first few weeks before I most likely will downgrade Young and upgrade a defender to a Man U, say if Evans is back.

          Stoke has good fixtures so benching Bojan could be costly, you never know.

      I quite like the Bego/Guzan rotation though, should settle my goalies for the first dozen gameweeks. Also, Chambers should start the first couple of gameweeks, until Mert is back. I know Jovetic is a punt, but he should start the first few gameweeks unless he performs terribly. A punty team, but ok for a few gameweeks until we know which players are performing well (one of which might be in this team :/ Wishful thinking!)

      No clue who will be on penalties, presume Huddlestone may still be, even after his missed one (and public apology) last week.

      Like Henderson. Indifferent about Noble, not sure who's their penalty taker now - presume Noble still if you've picked him?

    Very top heavy I know, but had Evans instead of Hutton, then realised that Evans to a 4.0 there and Hazard to Fabregas would allow Henderson to Sterling.

    What do you think?

        I wouldn't play him in the first week and hoping he'd be available week 2. Similarly, hoping Cameron will be a safe pick as he's so versatile, but granted worth thinking about. Cheers.

          Don't keep too much hope, go for the 100% nailed on players to avoid headaches, hits and transfers later. Good luck for the start !

        Surely he's first choice over Myhill? Or do you mean not sure about WBA defence? I have my doubts too, but keen not to double in defence yet.

      Chambers a fairly inevitable early transfer but could be worth it. Looks a pretty decent team, inevitable questions over Bojan but a risk worth taking imo. Rodwell an interesting shout, interested to see how he does.

      If you're worried by Liverpool cover I guess you could do Rodwell to 4.5 and Hazard to Fabregas, use that extra 2.0 to upgrade Siggy.

          If you did that you would be able to play that midfield 4 every game without having to worry about your 5th midfielder, picks itself.

          I've always been an advocate of a strong bench, but have just changed my team to include Sterling...

              Yeah, I've just weighed up Hazard and Henderson vs Fabregas and Sterling/ Coutinho, happier with the latter I think. Siggy is a risk at losing value early on I reckon so TV-wise may be safer going with B

      I think you should spend a bit more on strickers. Downgrade noble to a 4.5. Maybe wait on che def untill we know whose playing? I went siggy over hendo but i think hendo in for a good year too. Id also pick one gk and a 4m for the start of season. Keep as much money in attack so you can downgrade as we progress.

    Im settled on this for start of season but would love some eyes to gloss over it and tell me what you think. No che def but waiting on gk choice, might go that route. No man city cover either but cant have everyone and i am covering che attack with costa. Personaly feel fabregas will be assisting the assister a lot compared to say sterling and Hazard too exoensive for 10mil especially now che have a stricker,

      To counter your argument of Hazard being too expensive, now that there is Costa he's likely to get more assists. Also on pens so could easily be worth it.

      Team looks good. Presume that's Phil Jones? Have doubts over Giroud but think he's the best pick at 8.5m.

      Decent formation. Mid is almost the same.

      I am having problem to pick Haz or Fab, and my friends also recommends to change Terry to Cahill.

        I have the same thoughts as you.. I am thinking that Terry should be nailed on to start though.

        For me, Hazard not been in the best shape coming into the system was a factor. Fabregas might player a bit deeper though, so its hard to pick until it becomes clearer where Mourinho will play him in the system / how much time he spends getting forward.
