A new beginning. On the eve of a new campaign, two grumpy middle-aged has-beens gather in a studio to recall the summer’s feast of football and look ahead to another Fantasy season, full of hope.

There’s no frills. No live video cast. No special guests. Just Granville and I, stripped back and almost unplugged.

Don’t let that put you off, though. Even with our limited powers we at least attempt to cut through the issues currently rattling around in the minds of Fantasy managers.

We assess the Old Trafford revolution, the world without Suarez and the merits of the three-man strike force. We slice through the current transfer trends and weigh up matters such as the Sigurdsson/Bojan rotation, Fagregas vs Hazard and the Chelsea back four conundrum. We also manage to warm up with a nice little argument about the Alexis Sanchez bandwagon – the traditional pre-season barney.

        the good 6.0 defenders aren't playing atm (thinking Vertonghen, Mert, Kosc) or aren't nailed on (luis, azpi)
        this will buy me time and avoid having to swallow some price drops

    hi, could anyone tell me where i could improve on this team? i think i need better back up on the bench.

    I was thinking maybe swap hazard for fabregas and vaz-te for bojan but will fabregas play, and if he does will he get points?

      Fabregas looks like a good option but Hazard is worth the 1m more. But if you have to, why not?

      Fab is bound to play, maybe deeper but I expect a lot of game time. Maybe not as many points as hazard - all depends on what you want to do with the 1 million? Reckon bojan is a must over vaz-te surely

          He's been in the hole a couple of times in pre season but has also played deeper. Prob get a mixture of both. In the team news option on this site, he's places deeper in midfield for instance, which could be quite correct. He should play tho, it's fab after all, he's bound to be good. 1 mill can go a long way, although hazard pretty much gives you 200 pints and pens etc

            hmmm ok good to know, i dont think hazard will have as good of a season as the last one, so i might go for fab. im nervous about liverpool defenders and lovrens ownership is so high... do you reckon i should get a man city player since i dont have any? btw thanks for the feedback its really helpful:)

              Personally I'm avoiding city to start with as they have so much rotation and so many good players, but sagna is a decent option for that price, but lovren is pretty nailed on I reckon. Ownership is high, which brings it's good and bad points. How about naughton from spurs for 4.5 instead of vlaar, is pretty much cert for first few games due to other injuries or maybe van aanholt from Sunderland, could be good with assist etc. just really think villa will struggle this season. This is just my option of course. Might be massively wrong!!!!

            I've thought about the defence more than anything else. I have them rotating for the first 7 weeks so the defenders I play will be playing weak teams and mainly at home.

            At the end of the day, any team can concede against any other team. The main points come from the attackers.

          It is. Swansea are close to signing a defender from Napoli, therefore making Bartley unnailed. Baird and the WBA defence will get destroyed and Hull won't keep many CS's.

          So my advice:

          Chester->PVA
          Ward->Clyne (only if CP fail without Pulis)
          Bartley->Moore

    Watching games and trusting your gut instincts matters as much as stats!

    Last year we all saw a dominant Chelsea win 1-0 at the Etihad through the perfect counter attacking performance. Hazard didn't get any goals or assists but he was arguably MOTM.

    Next week Chelsea were at home to Newcastle, on a terrible run since they sold Cabaye.

    A few of us on here captained Hazard, overall 80%+ of the top 10k captained Suarez.
    Hazard got a Hattrick and the rest is history.

    In summary is Diego Costa capable of that? Hazard certainly is!
