A new beginning. On the eve of a new campaign, two grumpy middle-aged has-beens gather in a studio to recall the summer’s feast of football and look ahead to another Fantasy season, full of hope.

There’s no frills. No live video cast. No special guests. Just Granville and I, stripped back and almost unplugged.

Don’t let that put you off, though. Even with our limited powers we at least attempt to cut through the issues currently rattling around in the minds of Fantasy managers.

We assess the Old Trafford revolution, the world without Suarez and the merits of the three-man strike force. We slice through the current transfer trends and weigh up matters such as the Sigurdsson/Bojan rotation, Fagregas vs Hazard and the Chelsea back four conundrum. We also manage to warm up with a nice little argument about the Alexis Sanchez bandwagon – the traditional pre-season barney.

    My thinking ( 😀 ) is.....
    - I want United & Chelsea defence. Debuchy is then part of the next best defence and when he has tough fixtures, Chester/Bruce rotate (rarely).
    - I don't see another standout striker at this stage apart from Rooney and Costa.... using Bojan (who has great fixtures) allows me to spend elsewhere.

    Without the sacrifices, I struggle to get what I want.

    So, draft one.. opinions? 😎

      It's pretty much the same team as mine exept for Debucy and the bench. Looks good, not much you can do diffrent. Maybe find a replacement for Albrighton or just leave him if you're not gonna use him.

      I'd want a United defender and a Chelsea defender, as I've said above. 😛

      DDG in goal for B and downgrade Clyne to a £4.5m maybe.

      If you're not keen on that, I'd go A probably.

    Why the love for begovic as only playing keeper??

    Begovic made only 9 clean sheets last season and 104 saves in 2880 minutes.

    Adrian on the other hand made 87 saves in under 1900 minutes. He made 6 clean sheets but shared game time with jaaskelainen who made 8. Altogether giving 14 clean sheets. Up there with the best.

    Mannone is fiercely regarded as the keeper for saves but Adrian made something like 42 saves less in about 720ish less minutes. This is 8 games so he would have only needed about 5 saves a game to beat mannone in this department. Therefore showing he was probably the best keeper in the league for saves.

    Anyway the Long and short of it is that I think Adrian is the best 5.0 option and I'll be going Adrian+4.0 this season.

        I thought this but he scored a good 40 points off top keepers. If you combine Adrian and jussi. They get the most points of keepers easily.

    Got 9.5m in FPL to spend on defence with P. Jones and Debuchy in already, looking to play a 3-5-2. Any suggestions? 5.5 and a 4.0 on the bench, or rotate with 5.0 and a 4.5?

    Some options I've come up with:

    A. Clyne + Cameron/O'Shea/Vlaar/etc.
    B. Ward + Cameron/O'Shea/Vlaar/etc.
    C. Lovren + a 4.0 def
    D. Fonte + a 4.0 def

          I would only want an ars defender for GW 1 and for that reason I'd do debuchy > chambers and upgrade Bartley to chester or similar.

        I can't have a 5m goal threat being rotated. Will curse the Gods if he's benched when he scores a goal and keeps a clean sheet, and you can't play qpr every week

          That doesn't make any sense.

          You can't have him on the bench because he's 5m? Or that he's a goal threat?

          It doesn't matter if he scores when he's on your bench. It's no different to Ferdinand sitting on your bench with no goals.

          The only thing that matters is the price.

          it does make sense - you play defenders based on who the oppo is more than any other position. goals from defenders don't necessarily come in those matches.

      Jovetic is twice the player Dzeko. As much of a goal threat as Dzeko even though he tends to play in the hole. It's just his fitness that lets him down.
