A new beginning. On the eve of a new campaign, two grumpy middle-aged has-beens gather in a studio to recall the summer’s feast of football and look ahead to another Fantasy season, full of hope.

There’s no frills. No live video cast. No special guests. Just Granville and I, stripped back and almost unplugged.

Don’t let that put you off, though. Even with our limited powers we at least attempt to cut through the issues currently rattling around in the minds of Fantasy managers.

We assess the Old Trafford revolution, the world without Suarez and the merits of the three-man strike force. We slice through the current transfer trends and weigh up matters such as the Sigurdsson/Bojan rotation, Fagregas vs Hazard and the Chelsea back four conundrum. We also manage to warm up with a nice little argument about the Alexis Sanchez bandwagon – the traditional pre-season barney.

    Can someone sort out my goalkeeper conundrum for me?

    I have DDG and Gilks, but am a bit concerned about the people bagging out Utd's defence. A lot of people going the Krul/Foster combo. Seems strange to me because Newcastle were absolutely woeful once Cabaye left and West Brom aren't great either.

    Even if Utd are shaky, I can't see that combo doing better than DDG.

    Any thoughts? If you had to rotate a 5.0 and 4.5 keeper, which combo would you choose?

        Yeah, he's a good shout. About the best 5.0 keeper, but bit concerned with Stoke under Hughes and their propensity for leaking goals.

        Maybe Stoke will dump Hughes and bring back Pulis after his heroics last season. If so, bego would be a must have.*

        *obviously not going to happen.

      People seem to forget that DDG also gets save points. He is a world class keeper playing ordinary strikers in the opening weeks. He will make plenty of saves if the defence tends to be a little leaky.

        Will you be comfortable rotating Gilks in? I know Burnley didn't ship many last season but this is the PL and a different kettle of fish.

    Hello all,

    I have 1mil itb and am trying to upgrade my d-line.
    Currently I have Chambers, Terry, Baird, Caulker, and Evans.

      Do any of the weaker pairs rotate? I wouldnt do chambers because you know eventually he'll be rotated out and thats just a waste of a transfer. Evans also has a knock, i would prefer jones.

          Really? How come? Thought he'd be a cert? What's your reasoning, I have him, so would like to know. Still think QPR will concede loads, plenty of options at 5.5. Debuchy?

            I thought I read somewhere Rogers said his fitness was a little off but I might be completely mistaken. It seems the consensus though is he's a good bet.

              Haven't heard that. He was fit v Dortmund and was one of the best players. I think Rodgers seems him as what's been missing.

              If anyone gets dropped, its Skrtel who is only in there because he can play right side.

      Don't need to tell you weak bench. I like the diouf punt. I'd probably join you if I could find another mil but junk bojan is fine for 5.5 and can easily change to nugent if goes wrong.

      I'm liking what i see for your team, good big hitter in cahill and surrounding 4.5's.

      Mids have improved a lot! Nice to see rams and haz in there, along with siggy and nasri, interesting to see how young does.

      Forward line good, mids justify Bojan and could do well anyway for stoke.

        Honestly picking defenders is the hardest thing. Baines and Coleman are too much, the Chelsea defenders could all be rotated, Liverpool and City both have defensive issues, so I'm just going for some assists or lucky goals more than for clean sheets.
