The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

          I assumed Terry is aging and might be more subject to rotation than Cahil with the CL coming up. I might be wrong though

    Hi lads I would appreciate a little help with my fantasy team desperately

    Then my second team after not being overally happy with first-

    Courtois is my little secret! Don't need any advice on Baird, just picked him to play GW1. Only spots up in the air are Siggy and Dzeko.

        Looks like he's stuck on the flank. I guess set-pieces do it. Would like to have Bony instead, but won't double on Swansea attack.

        I am 95% sure.

        Nice two easy fixtures first up to ease him into it, Schwarzer already been labelled a 'good second keeper' by Mou, history on his side also - Cech took over from Bonetti when both were at similar stages of their careers in Mou's first stint. Mou has already voiced his hope for Courtois to stay, and he knows that the only way to do this would be to give him the 1.

        At 6.0, he'd be the most nailed Chelsea defender, and also the equal-cheapest!

        I too, am not sure. Would probably rather Puncheon, Hendo or Snod. Puncheon is crossed off immediately due to all the Palace capitulation, Snod crossed off due to potential Europa League football. Hendo crossed off as I already have Sterling.

        Who does that leave?

        The guy on set-pieces, with two good centre forwards above him, and with GW2 and 3 at home.

          Stoke are not a safe bet for a CS IMO. Set up to attack under Hughes, not to defend. Don't let their fixtures fool you! Fair punt if you want to go for Debuchy, good bet for a CS GW1, especially now that Tony P has left.

    To get a Chelsea defender in I would have to filed this side. Would dropping Hazard for Erikson be worth it though?

    Kind of confused about why so few teams are considering Riviere. If you look back on what Ba and Cisse did when they came to the PL, history seems to show that for at least the first season a new Newcastle striker is bound to go nuts...

          If you're going to run a 3-5-2, have you considered downgrading a DEF player and throwing a little money up front? Just seems that you have three DEF that you could start every week (thus invalidating your DEF bench completely). Just a thought...

      You wouldn't want to play PvA every week, would you? Same goes with Bojan. Not balanced enough IMO. Downgrade Eriksen to a 6.0 is what I'd do.

      Nice backline, but with the 2 4.0m defenders that could be rotated or replaced would you like to strengthen the backline abit?
      I see you almost have the same team as me, other than the fact you do have Mata. Other than that your team looks very solid, though I would downgrade Eriksen to a 6.0 player to give your defense a better balance.

      I'd be worried about that MID. Mata and Ramsey are quality, but other than that you're assuming Henderson and Siggy are going to blow up (which I don't think is a given)...

        I hear you. It's a choice I made, feeling more confident about the front 3 whereas less confident in exactly which prem option available (Fab/Hazard/Sanchez/Eriksen/Lamela). Possibly I will look to downgrade one of the forwards if one prem option start to look good.

      Looks good, but I bet there will be some 9mil of under forward who grabs your attention early doors, and allows you to free up some money to strengthen that midfield, which is probably missing just one stronger player...

      Don't really like the MID. Only two guaranteed scorers there and with Jovetic rotated out early at ManC, you could be hurting...

        Siggy will be a consistent point scorer, tedic is punt which might pay off with a set piece hogger who plays as part of a front 3 and Dorrans is my weak link but he takes penalties and (hopefully) plays well centrally. As for jovetic he'll be out in game week 4/5 wen agueros back. Might put in a cheap in form striker then.

    Courtois (Myhill)

    Lovren Debuchy Cameron (Wisdom Bartley)

    Fabregas Ramsey Mata Sterling (Marney)

    Rooney Costa Bojan

    Courtois will start week in week out. I'll rotate Swansea/Stoke/WBA defender. I think Bojan will do well.

      The risk with that defense is that are you willing to sacrifice some points for Lovren and Debuchy for the first few weeks of their fixtures? And as much as I know, Bartley and Wisdom aren't completely nailed on which could mean you would have to play those 3 in defense most weeks. I like the use of a Chelsea gk! Same frontline as me which is nice to see 🙂 and personally i think your front 7 is real solid!

    Have a few punts like Lamela and Jovetic which can be easily replaced by new bandwagons.
    I know defence is a bit light but I'm happy with the rotation and have to be cheap somewhere so defence it is..

      I like it. Loving the increase in Lamela punts ( I have him too). Who is the 4.5 mid, though? they will be pants. And yes, be prepared to replace Jovetic by the international break.
