The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

      - Don't be too concerned, if someone form city startes to really fire you should be able to make a straight swap without switching the entire team

      I think we're all in the same boat on City - Jovetic feels a but too punty, Dzeko/Silva a bit hit and miss and Yaya too expensive and DEF unclear

    I have tried not to look at to many other teams, and come up with my own strategy. I would love you to give me some feedback, i know my bench is weak and i will work on strengthening it 😉

      - Very solid and well balanced team
      - Only minor problem is having both young and mata in the one team. Take one out as it will, in most cases takeaway from the amount of points you could have got

        Yeah, i do see you concerns.

        My problem is that i dont believe in the united defense, so i went for a double midfield solution from the start, i might have to change it after a few weeks.

      Pretty standard. I'd swap Yoshida for a 4.0 and get Sig or Henderson instead of Young.

          he'll be a great differential if it pays off but I think you'll have a fews good weeks and then get caught out on squad selection. I'd still swap Yoshida for a 4.0 though - no point having money warming the bench if you're determined to play 4-4-2.

          Also if you're not going to play Bojan at home to Villa then there's no point having him unless you assume his price will rise and this will only happen if he gets a decent points haul 🙂

          I see, Either way i think Yoshida is not worth the 4.5, think about swapping him for another 4.5 or getting a 4.0 and spending the rest somewhere else.

        1. Yes, i am a massive united fan, and have watched all of the pre - season games, and i think with the current injuries in the squad that Young will get a good start this season.

        2. That is a problem, i currently only have one and that is Young.

      I don't like Young as an fpl prospect and don't know why people are getting him. If you plan on playing 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 then your team is good but I feel you can have more points by switching to 3-5-2 or 4-3-3

      Good team. I'd downgrade Debuchy to a 5.0 and get Cahill instead of Luis. but that's more of a personal choice.. Also not too sure on the double Liverpool midfield with their opening fixtures.

      - Solid team apart from the defence. However with the firepower you have in attack it shouldn't cause too much trouble.
      - Also beware that you probably will have to transfer out chambers after the first few weeks

          I like it because :
          1- DDG is nailed on so MU def is covered
          2- You get to see how Yoshida plays , giving you an insight into SOU def . IMO i think Yoshida will be a great prospect if get he nails his spot in the starting line-up
          3- Your Mid is just superb

          Problem :
          1- What will you do when Aguero is back ? stick to Dzeko ? I'd find a way out if i were you

      Potentially swapping Ward for a Stoke player (eg, Pieters). If anything, you need a better spare fwd to rotate with either a midfielder or defender

        Was thinking of swapping Ward out for Davies from Hull but Pieters is a good option. I have two solid defender subs so my thinking was if I need to sub out a forward or Midfielder I can with them. Does this make sense or would I be better off upgrading my 3rd forward ?

      You need to keep in mind that you will have to get another defender as soon as Mert is back .
      I'm not a fan of Fabregas to be honest they will probably line him up next to Matic with Oscar/Willian/Hazard infront , so maybe get Henderson instead of him and upgrade Sterling to Hazard ? Plus i believe that Jones is more Nailed on than Smalling ?

      The FFS team news suggests Fabregas will play deep, presumably because Ramires is suspended. Obviously he'll be involved in the action, but if Oscar is in front of him at 10 then...

      Lamela + Coutinho is a massive gamble. That could rocket or it could flop. Not sure pre-season is anything to go by.

      Not convinced Young will play more than a week or so and will definitely be rotated.

      I'm having the same dilemmas, but I've gone Eriksen over Lamela because of his track record. He also takes the set pieces I think.

        I'm interested in disposing of Fab as well. I don't want to invest in Hazard however. I was looking for a good replacement.

        Yeah, I'll stick with Siggy over Young for now.

        My team's just so... staid. Wanted a couple of punts in there you know? Will stick with Lamela over Eriksen.

      Fab + Hendo is defo safer, but Lamela+ Cout has the potential to turn out great. With that in mind i'd go with Fab + Hendo at first. About the second one i like Siggy way better.

      Please don't go with Bruce at 21.7% ownership he's only going one way in value and a £3.9 defender is a right pain in the ass to get rid of.

      A is solid for a regular 3-5-2 but I'd be tempted to play Bojan in place of Siggy GW1

      Young but only because he plays for utd. If I was picking the players over quality I'd pick Bojan
