The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Ryan’s biggest concern is his cheap defenders. Any ideas for improvement there? Is he right to spend so much on Ivanovic or to trust in Stevan Jovetic replicating his preseason form?

        B for me, Luis and Apzi aren't nailed on, Cahill seems to be the safest bet for Chelsea's defence. And PVA is looking like a good pick, definitely him over Caulker.

    Cahill the main man with Clyne following closely.
    Naylor/Pieters rotating with Wisdom the filler..

      I'm on the DDG wagon. Mainly because the GKer is a tough one to select at the moment.

    made around 100+ tranfers so far! would appreciate some feedback, good or bad!

    unsure about blackett but with evans and shaw injured it seems like a good differential!

      I'd get Moore over Wisdom and whoever over Blackett.

      Debuchy over Gibbs
      Hutton over wisdom
      Dont think burnley will do well at all so trippier is mehh..
      Blackett will play one GW and Evans will be back

    1) Is Pieters nailed on? If not, which Stoke defender to consider below 5.0m?
    2) Bojan + Snodgrass + 1m can be converted to Jovetic + Marney, but that would involve playing Sigurdsson every week, and a poorer bench with Marney. Is it worth?
    3) Shall I save the 1m in the bank, or do Lamela > Silva?

      That is a cracking side. Nice work!
      Only slight concern would be no Chelsea DEF... but with so much uncertainty surrounding the Chelsea back 4- it might be an idea not start with one!

        Yes, the confusion, the tricky fixtures of Chelsea up until GW11 and the hefty price... so I preferred to go with a balanced team, expecting at least some returns from the defenders each week. I will have 3 easy, clean-sheet-able games every week up until GW12 with these guys. Though I am pretty sure I have to change long before that. 🙂

            Yes, I would be rotating them.. 2 of them will play every week.

              I saw a tip on here that Aluko will be OOP playing up front in Long's place - maybe save another 1.0mil there swopping Snoddy for him. Worth a punt?

              And maybe drop a 5.0 defender to 4.0 - there seems to be too much cash in there.

              I don't see 5.5 or 6.0 on the bench as a great idea as well as having a striker spot not fully utilised. The likes of Dzeko or Jovetic even Bony or Grioud dont need much game time at all to get a goal or assist even.

              Just IMO - use it don't use it.

      I don't think you should double up on CHE defence. Downgrade Terry to a 5.0 mil DEF (a lot of choice out there) and leaves you 1.5 to spread across the team or when Chambers loses his place 🙂

      I'd change Zarate. Simply don't think he is value at 6.5M. I'd get Nugent or Bojan for 5,5 and would upgrade Wanyama with Mutch (4,5 to 5,5) or Siggy (6M) for Barkley. Or, if you want to keep a 6M midfielder, maybe replace siggy with Snodgrass and upgrade your keeper, maybe DDG?

      The real question is, why do you want a Villa defender with their fixtures. I'd stay well clear.

        @Ryan - Having a 4.0m that plays on the bench with bad fixtures is better then a 4.0 that doesnt play

        Because Leicester and Burnley have the other 4.0 defenders I'd be looking at, and their fextures are much worse it seems to me

      I'd go for the second one, B. I'd replace Eriksen, get Barkley and upgrade ur D with a 6M defender. Filipe Luis is likely to be a started, Chelsea D is strong (you'll get lots of clean sheets) and from what I've seen the last two season in Atletico, you might get 5/6 assists and a goal or two
