With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Ryan’s biggest concern is his cheap defenders. Any ideas for improvement there? Is he right to spend so much on Ivanovic or to trust in Stevan Jovetic replicating his preseason form?

      - Courtois is not nailed on, neither is Cech. If you're playing for damage prevention go for someone who is assurred of a start
      - Defence is a little weak due to our mids and forwards however with the firepower you have upfront you should be fine

      I like it - one of the best I've seen.
      Chelski defence is a coinflip - maybe Cahil for Terry.

      Lack of depth on bench but we all will have this year!

    I currently have a team that looks like the following, I tried to get a nice balance whilst also thinking about the first few gameweeks … until I do the inevitable and wildcard early because I picked the wrong players!

    3 - 5 - 2

    De Gea + 4.0

    Terry + Caulker + Taylor (SWA) + Bruce + Wisdom

    Hazard + Mata + Ramsey + Eriksen + Sigurdsson

    Rooney + Dzeko + Bojan

    GK
    • I intend to always play De Gea, so it doesn’t matter who the 4.0 is.

    DEF
    • Terry is Chelsea captain and won’t be off on international duty, so I reckon he will play most games. Plus he scores a few goals each season.
    • Caulker is dangerous from set plays and QPR might be more solid at the back this year.
    • Taylor will play regularly for Swansea and they have some nice fixtures after gameweek 1.
    • Bruce should play if Hull play with 3x Centre backs but at 4.0 its not too risky.
    • Wisdom might play but at 4.0 is really doesn’t matter. PUNT

    MID
    • Pretty solid, will most likely play all 5 each week. Most of them are on Free-kicks / corners or with a history of scoring/assisting.

    FWD
    • Dzeko should hopefully play 1st gameweek. His stats are pretty impressive as well, in the last 3 years he has scored 16, 14 + 14 Goals and assisted 7, 6 + 6 times. He will most likely be my 1st transfer out if someone in the same price range bangs a few in!!
    • Bojan*. It was between him and Fletcher. (Stoke have the favourable fixtures though) PUNT
    • Rooney for obvious reasons.

    *Bojan is the only player who doesn’t have a history of playing in the premier league.

    I have no Liverpool cover but I expect them to struggle this year. Last year they went out of both cups early and didn't play in Europe, so lots more pressure on them this year

          Eventually. Just not in the first Five or so gameweeks.

          I'm glad he's 8.5 because If he does go up in price I can easily swap one of my underperforming 9.0 out for him.

        Yep Bruce has been in and out of my team.
        I think I prefer Ivan over Che CB or Baines, due to Everton fixtures and Ivans's goal threat.

        Birds of Prey: Find me a better 4.5 keeper and I'll take him. Mannone was worth it last year for save points alone. No money left, unfortunately.

        How can one get a 10/10 team? Is it even possible?

        Show me a 10/10 RMT and I'll take it.

        Is it better to spend big on 5 MF and play 3-5-2 or distribute and play 3-4-3?

          krul is better than mannone, in terms of mannone not nailed on, and newcastle i think (although biased as a supporter ?like yourself) will keep more cleanies than sunderland

            Mannone had 1 more CS than Krul last year, but this could be different. Newcastle fell apart last year after Cabaye was sold.

            Will give a think.

            What better Stoke DF than Cameron for 4.5? Wilson? Cameron played 600 more minutes than Wilson last year.

            Also, instead of Luis? Was going to have Azpil, but someone made the point that why would chelsea buy a 16m LB who just won the Spanish title and leave him on the bench? Is this Mourinho trying to destroy the Spanish national team from within again?
