Mark The Beta Test on the new site that opened to Members last night is now closed after the first phase of testing.
We got a fantastic amount of feedback following the first phase and have a good list to work through before we go live again for another pass. We will also be optimising the servers and tweaking various aspects of the site before we open it up to Members once again.
We will keep you posted. Thanks again for the feedback from those who took part in last night’s test.

Wow. I didn't realise they were open so early. We're now on the 18th July with the game opening on the 13th August. Come on FPL!
Nice one. Have a feeling it will be overnight opening, so come in every morning, check fpl, if it ain't open in the morning then it won't open that day. Thats my theory anyway
Hmm I don't know about that, they won't be too worried about traffic to the site if they're spending this long perfecting it, 11am-1pm is prime release time. which begs the question why I'm still here

See alot of people opting for Hart and a cheapie instead of e.g given and begovic on the basis of price. I would hazard a guess that both combo's would be 10.5. Hart 6.5, cheapie 4. Given 5.5, begovic 5.
I don't think 10.5 is too much to pay if you get 2 clean sheets out of every 3 gws plus save points. But for the record Given/Schwarzer or Given/Kenny is my preference
It's a interesting point but my thoughts are heading towards a top GK which I can pretty much leave alone, with a cheaper to come in in emergency and get me whatever he gets me. Problem with intentional rotation, in my view, is that what looks the clear best fixture often doesn't pan out the way you imagined.
Consistency across the season from a single points scorer should even out the niggles in the results.
There's also the issue of adding in a another quality GK during the season, if your top man fades or faces a stretch of tough-looking fixtures, aided by cash made from player trading elsewhere across your team.
Incidentally, I started 2010/11 with Robinson and switched to Hart maybe 15-18 games in because I kept getting beaten up by MC's clean sheets.
Just my thoughts, and nothing is definitive until prices/value are published, but for what it's worth, there you go.
Yup I know where you're coming from, luckily I switched to Hart GW2 and he was my main man for the season too. Rival in my minileague had Robinson/Foster for most the season then foster/begovic, ended up beating me outright in keeper points for the season.
Put it this way, if clean sheets were a little more predictable, getting 2 Clean sheets out of every three for 10.5 is the same as having a 10.5 striker who gets two goals out of every three, which is an immense achievement for a striker
I agree. That will be my upper limit on keepers. Just feel for the outlay, you are at a pain to bench hart, and inevitably they still have clean sheet potential against the other big sides. Im not getting drawn into looking at too many combos as prices are key. If kompany or another defender was cheaper, may sway me. We shall see i suppose

Also, could fpl be waiting till ffs gets itself geared up to deal with what could potentially be a massive increase in traffic. Im thinking although there was 5,000+ in the ffs league and many more thousands visiting the site on day to day and match days basis. This new link could see hundreds of thousands of visitors? Surely they wouldnt want there new link up site to crash as soon as they have announced it.
They could just launch it and wait 'til FFS is ready before they link to this site. The could jus put up a notice "New improved Pundit coming soon"
It is most likely for this reason, anyone that saw what we did to their servers on a regulate basis before matches would know better. If it crashed last year, imagine what now. Also I think they want to use this time to evalate player to make sure the pricing is correct.
Really thought today would be the day. Was meant to be sports day today, but because of the rain it was cancelled, so had a lot of free time today (only 2 classes and just watched a DVD in both) and would have had ages to start tinkering with my team.

On a completely different note, Im going to the cricket in a couple of weeks for the first time. Any1 know how/where to get one of those ear pieces where you can listen to radio commentary while at the ground?
You buy them at the venue, using a stall just after you get through the ticket gate. £10 a pop. Definitely recommend them! Check yours works straight away though... I had a duff one and didn't realise til I had sat down, had to go back out to change it (bloke said it's quite common).
They sell them at the ground for a very (un)reasonable £6-10.
Thats what I assumed. Is it the grounds own commentary, or can you tune into the radio, ie. listen to TMS?
In case you come back to this... Sky and TMS will both sell them and they'll only work for their commentary. There's always (everywhere I've been) people wandering around from both providers selling the earpieces.

What are people's views on the 'Star player' in the Metro game. Am I missing something or does it look like very easy money. Looks a great idea where you predict which player gets more points than the other player in that given game. I've taken a look at the match ups for the 1st round of games and many of them seem a good possibility of doing well for a 10 pound stake. Only thing is I can never really get the whole awarding of the points. I know the breakdown but overall they never look straightforward.

I thought it was just the FPL that was having changes (hence delay) but i think the whole premier league web-site is being changed. It was in paper a few weeks ago that the whole offical site was being changed/upgraded. Not sure if this is right or not.

Is he actually that good? I'll be honest I've only seen him play a few times and I wasnt that impressed.
For me, with Tevez going, a reliable goal scorer and PL player, and Augero coming in, that makes City weaker than last season so far IMO.

U can't underestimate the importance of someone like Tevez who always comes up with the goods. I was worried about Torres leaving us because I knew he could do the business in the PL, Suarez was very much an unknown, we are lucky he settled so well.

From what little we have seen of suarez in the premier league he seemed to settle with relative ease, aguero is a similar player coming from a better league
Aguero is good. better than Dzeko, and will probably be priced above him, but probably shouldn't be as I felt from the get-go that Dzeko wass overpriced.

Go to a shop like Gamestop and you can give your old games to them and get newer ones for cheap or free. You'd definitely get games for free if you give in 35 items. I'm not sure if you can get money back instead.

Pretty slick. Lots of green. Still some improvements to be made but it's looking well. It's reverting back to the comment style they tested last year where you make a post and when people reply on it, you have to click on a 'view reply' button to open a drop down view. You can also +1 a post if you like it. The graphics look really well.

On an FISO forum a guy that worked for ISM posted this morning saying that they were hoping to launch on Friday but there were too many bugs and delays and that they were hoping to launch "this afternoon".
I'm expecting a launch around 1-2am to avoid traffic
