With Gameweek 1 concluded, itβs time to delve a little deeper into the data in our first “Big Numbers” article for members of the campaign. We analyse the display of Arsenalβs new wide man against Palace, the QPR front pairing at home to Hull, Liverpoolβs ever-improving youngster, Southamptonβs delivery under Ronald Koeman and Unitedβs weekend scorer in the 2-1 home loss to Swansea.
Think the second one looks promising if the performances are good. Plenty of midfield options for the upgrade. Dzeko might still be a great option though, people seem to think that Aguero/Jovetic isn't in pelle's tactics.
With all this i think mata wil perform anyways, with those fixtures and he is class. So hopefully you can concentrate on the next dilemma after his goal this weekend.Open Controls*reply fail. Sorry!

Henderson>Siggy and Lovren>Clyne worth the -4 pts?
Open Controlstaking a hit on defenders is never really worth it. Siggy isn't rising as rapidly as everyone hoped either. Still stuck on 6.1 for some reason. There's no rush for those moves imo, but then again its easy for me to say that as i have siggy, lovren, and clyne all in my team π Will be working hendo into my lineup once CL starts again too as he'll be the only liverpool mid playing every game
Open ControlsI would've done a straight Henderson>Sig swap but I waited too long and Sig's price rose and I have nothing in the bank, unfortunately. If only I had done it as soon as I could I wouldn't be in this mess.

Wildcarding already and formed this team: Krul, Yoshida, Hutton, Chester, Siggy, Ramsey, Fab, Sterling, Rooney, Costa, Aguero Subs:Elliot, Pva, Marney, Moore. Question :is it really worth doing Yoshida+Chester/PVA+Aguero>Debuchy+Ivanovic+Dzeko? Select that combo that will yield more pts
Open ControlsYes Debuchy+Ivanovic+Dzeko is a better combo
Open Controls
Aguero's composure for the goal is just amazing, if he's fit I think he could be essential to have.

With players not starting and people trying grab price rises etc I see the merits of points hits being discussed here a lot.
I found this article on the TotalFPL web site. It goes into massive detail of players who finished in the top 10,000 teams last year. There is so much information there but the one that stuck out was this.
http://fpldiscovery.wordpress.com/2014/05/20/final-top-10000-teams/
The average top 10,000 player last year made 46 transfers. If I am correct that is 8 paid for transfers, 32 points.
I have no massive opinion either way on this but personally I don’t mind taking a few hits early to get the team right. Some people seem to see points hit as the worst thing ever, some players in my league aim to take none all year ( according to the linked article only 336 of the players who ended up top 10,000 did this)Seems strange.
Even stranger? There was a player in the top 10,000 last year who spent 216 points on transfers. MentalOpen ControlsYou'll see weekly captains etc from the top 10K weekly on that site.
Open ControlsIt's 11 I think.
You get 37 frees - 2 for WCs so 35 normal.Open Controlsthanks
Open Controls
It just goes to show that there is no right or wrong here. Although I suspect it would be very unlikely to get into the top 10k if you took 20hits or more.
Open ControlsInteresting that!
I've already taken a hit to move Mata>Fab but I think its going to be one that pays for itself soon. My midfield is awesome (Ramsey, Sterling, Fab, Siggy, Davis), with 2.5 in the bank waiting to be used this weekend on upgrading Davis to Tadic potentially.
I took that hit largely fueled by the potential value difference between the two, as I'm keen on building value asap to give me flexibility later in the season. For that I think its worth being a bit more flexible early on with regards to taking hits, although I don't foresee myself doing many this season.Open ControlsThe thing is when you take a hit, you're usually getting a player who's in a good form.
Usually it pays off, and I think that explains the numbers you mentioned.
I take a few hits during the season, I don't see it as a problem.
You need to get players before certain games and if that means you have to take a hit, then you take a hit.Open ControlsIt really just comes down to being right. If you make the right transfer, the four points will be well spent and you'll wind up being highly ranked. If you make the wrong move, you'll find yourself outside the top million... So I guess the question you have to ask yourself is, "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do you punk?
Open Controls
Bony or Dzeko for the next 2 GW's? (i have Siggy)
Open ControlsDzeko, Pele likes him.
Open Controls
why didn't siggy rise?
Open ControlsNew rules for double risers π
Open ControlsBecause TotalFPL and Fiso don't know the correct formula's yet. Happens at the start of every season.
Open Controls
When you plan on not making a transfer, it has the similar feeling of an international break π

Biiiiiiiiiig tuuuuuuuuunnnnnneeeeeeeeee:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJm7IPrBmLYOpen ControlsIs there an official DZ league or is it too late to join?
Open ControlsNewer players wont know this but around 3 season FPL totally changed the formula for price changes. This is how it use to work before the change. I'll use Siggy as an example.
Siggy needs 60,000 NTI for his first rise of the GW. For him to achieve a 2nd rise in the same GW the NTI threshold would double. For a 3rd rise the NTI would be trebled. So 60k becomes 120k then 180k etc. This kept price swings in check.
For some reason the decided to do away with that system and removed the the NTI/NTO multiple so players would rise each time they hit the base threshold. The markets got super crazy and have been so since.
I can only assume that they have decided to go back to a version of the tier system we had before. At first glance this looks like a huge + for the casual players. Regs won't be able to build huge team values so easilly anymore removing a good part of our edge during the 2nd half of the season.Open ControlsI dunno I think it's an advantage for us too. Instead of feeling forced to grab Sterling now before his price breaks 9 million, I can wait until week 4 when the fixtures ease and I think he has a better chance to score more points.
Open ControlsThere's less foresight required this way though, which makes it easier for players who don't plan ahead and can get players like Sterling for a similar price in 3 weeks as they could right now. I'd find it more enjoyable to be able to build value as that is a big part of fantasy football, but I guess the game organizers don't want massive gaps to open up between casuals and regulars which probably puts a lot of people off halfway through the season.
Open ControlsI guess so, but I feel like the chasing value game has led me into a lot of bad decisions. Rather than being guided by the masses who drive the market I can play my own game.
Open ControlsGoing with the masses isn't always a bad thing though. All the (stupid) early WC'ers allow us to hop on value trains and still retain our WC for better use further down the line.
Of course it all hinges on having selected a solid team to start with. A bit of preseason research goes a very long way in the early part of a season. I'm so pleased about choosing Clyne for example π I should have listened to the masses about selecting Siggy though, instead I followed my heart and doubled up on Liverpools midfield with Sterling-Coutinho and had to use my FT to get Siggy in now.
I firmly believe in correcting mistakes as early as possible though even with a hit, hence Mata>Fab. I think Mata is going to bomb this season, especially if LVG goes back to a 433 variation and starts to play kagawa more like he did in preseason πOpen Controls
Phaze, i too think this is what as happened. The result of this (i think) is it makes avoiding price drops even more important.
Whereas before we could regularly be making .2's each week the falls were off set. Now the falls will hurt us moreOpen ControlsOn the flip side it also makes it more important to target players who have fallen previously who might be in line for a rise. Barkley for instance has already fallen to 6.9, and unless they protect him he could be a real gem to pick up when he gets back to fitness.
With the importance of avoiding drops I'm quite pleased to have made the Mata>Fab switch before the update, as I now have Fab at 9.1 and Mata looks like dropping to 8.9. I was expecting Fab to rise more this week but the changed format might keep him from doing so.Open ControlsFab could possibly make another rise this week even on the 200% rule. Many more casual players look at their team on a saturday morning and will see someone like mata as a direct swap
Open Controlstrue. the closer mata creeps to dropping below 9.0 the more people are going to jump ship and panic to not miss out on fabregas' rise. I'm just glad i got in on the ground floor π
Worst case scenario i can always trade back for Mata at a small profit, but the same is not true for those keeping mata.Open Controls
Not sure it will make all that much difference for casual players all that much. It will help players who prefer to wait and consider their moves over those who like to jump in early.
Last year was a particular bad year for those who like to sit back and take time to get on a bandwagon or to try a different path as so many were bandwagons succeeded. Reducing the £ impact will lesson this divide and who is to say whether the bandwagons such as siggy will be as successful points wise anyway.
Every year the rules adapt slightly which keeps the game interesting and means versatility is key for repeated success. I like it that way.Open Controls
Torresmagic, do you still run your leagues?
Open ControlsWho is best cheap striker option? Less then 7.0
A) Cambell
B) Bojan
C) Other?Open ControlsNaismith 5.0 is a good shout. He should get game time with Barkley out, but Evertons fixtures arent too kind first 8 weeks.
I have Bojan in my team, I'll give him until GW4 against Leicester to earn a longer stay otherwise he's gone.Open Controls
best 3rd striker option for a mostly 3-5-2 formation but will occasionally play him? (6.0m or less)
Open ControlsAustin on pens for QPR, Ings will always play for Burnley. Both are 6.0.
Naismith 5.0, Bojan 5.5 good options tooOpen Controlsbest 3rd striker option is to have an actual 3rd striker
Open Controlsnot if you have a packed midfield who are capable of scoring and assisting too.
My 3rd is Bojan but I have 2.5 to play with this weekend to get a 7.5 or 8.0 striker once it becomes clear who is on their game and has good fixtures. Thinking Pelle or RemyOpen Controlsok

N00b is going to a question so please be gentle: on a scale of 1-10, how risky/stupid is it to have both Fabregas and Diego Costa on my team? If I moved one, who would you recommend? Bojan and Jovetic are my other Forwards.
Open Controlsits not stupid at all imo. They should get points against Leicester, Swansea, and Villa, just as they did against Burnley.
I have both as well. In fact I had Rooney-Mata but traded Mata so i now have Costa-Fabregas double insteadOpen Controls
Anybody regretting or worried about not getting Fabs in??
Open ControlsYou, apparently. Although the rise/fall thresholds may have been adjusted well up so he may not be the bandwagon we thought he was.
Open ControlsI got him in for Mata. Despite the threshold being adjusted im still pleased. He's already 9.1 so might still rise, and Mata will probably drop to 8.9.
Fabregas will score more points than Mata too. Taking set pieces in a team of giants is a massive differentiator between the two in Fabregas' favour. He's the heartbeat of that midfield now too, with loads of talent around him to pass to and get goals from, whereas Mata has Fletcher, Young, and Blackett around him...Open Controls
no regret
some worryOpen Controlsno i have hazard

A comparative analysis of some 3 players who fooled us in pre-season friendlies: Jovetic>Bojan>Young is POO>POORER>POOREST
Open Controlsthis new theory "1st rise: 100%, second: 200%, third: 300%" could destroy us all. the day of reckoning is upon us
Open Controlsrepent, the rapture is nigh
Open Controls
adios
Open ControlsDid you choose between Sterling and Fab?
Open ControlsFab. Kind of wish I'd gone with Sterling now that new sh!t has been brought to light.
Open ControlsWhat new shit?
Open ControlsThresholds for risers possibly being staggered the way they were years back with double the NTI required for the second rise and triple for the third.
Open ControlsWhy would that affect who you pick?
Open Controls
The change in price rises i.e. Siggy not rising today
Open Controls
What do people think of ince for a few weeks or as long as i can hold off using my wildcard?
Is he nailed? Will he keep playing OOP?Open ControlsI’m going to captain Baines because there is no way that Debuchy not run over an Everton player come the weekend. Hopefully Koscienly is in his wild kicking mood as well.
Open Controlslast question before lights out....
Here is my midfield and forwards: (as you can imagine not much left for my defense or GKs, therefore not worth sharing)
Fabregas Mata Siggy Ramsey Sterling
Rooney Costa Jutkiewicz
Here is my dilemma: everybody is getting rid of mata for what i am assuming to be the other great similarly priced options that i already own. I love united's fixtures and i feel i need to cover their midfield. I had a great first week and don't want to mess up this great start.
(A) downgrade Mata to Herrera and put some money in my defense?
(B) downgrade Mata to some very cheap option like Cattermole, etc, and play a 3,4,3 with a better third striker
(C) stick and wait to see how Mata plays out in this beautifulrun of fixtures.
(D) wildcard and choose no players over 10% ownership to make things interestingOpen Controlsyou did well π
C, or DOpen Controlsdont think herrera will score much
Open Controls
if Mata tanks this weekend, I'd go A
Open ControlsIf I were you i'd probably stick with that team for now. You've got all the big points-getters in midfield and attack from GW1.
I actually have a very similar lineup to you
Fab-Sig-Ramsey-Sterling- Davis
Costa-Rooney-Bojan
although my defense is probably a bit stronger. Defense is a bit hit-and-miss early on though, so having a weak defense isn't the end of the world. I only got 7 points from my 3 Def's and GK in GW1 for instance.
A) Dont get herrera, he doesn't look like scoring many points playing so deep, especially with no pace ahead of him
B) Could be an option, but requires a hit. Probably just save your FT and swing a double this weekend when you know which mid-level strikers are good for value.
c) i'd do this.
d) no need to WC this early. thats insane when you already have a strong team.Open Controlsagree with this reasoning. if i was to go with A it surely wouldn't be for herrera. I have a similar team as well and i'll be sticking with mata. if you absolutely must replace him i would go for Silva. if you really want to free up cash i would go with nasri (if 0.5 is enough for you)
Open Controls
Two ideas.
looking to swap Giroud at 8.5 with another striker.
A. Pelle
B. Bony
C. Remy
or swap coutinho or nasri for
D. eriksen/lamela
E. Schurrle
F. Tadic
G. Siggy (saves money for future FT)
heres my team
krul
ward caulker kolorav (duff, moore)
coutinho, hazard (c), Mutch, Nasri (james)
costa (v), sturridge, giroud
whats the best option.Open Controlskeep nasri, he can score as well as silva if given the minutes
coutino to anyone of those is a good move. Siggy for the price rise and short term fixtures. Tadic has great fixtures and looked great against pool. Schurrle could be a great punt if he gets the starts, but always the risk of rotation. If he plays i would expect him to score the most thoughOpen Controls
Ugh I can't believe I got Vaz te for a hit. Well I did promise myself I'd take more chances this season so at least I'm keeping my word.
