What are the chances of Dzeko starting next week? Is it worth giving him ONE more chance?

Probably will, assuming he is not injured. Man city needs him as a physical presence up front. Aguero is not 100% match fit yet. Even then, he thrives on space, which he is not going to get in the first half. Plus he has been doing well as a supersub.

Definitely. No point trying to pre-empt Pelle team selection. Seems Dzeko injury was just an impact injury, nothing to worry about.

I'll be watching the Stoke game closely and make a decision on whether to do Dzeko>Jov after that

I'm keeping track of a totally template team this season. So what's the most template move I could make to this team? 2 FT so I need to use one.

    Begovic -- 4.0
    Jones -- Caulker -- Clyne -- (Wisdom) -- (Chester)
    Siggy -- Fabregas -- Mata -- Ramsey -- Sterling
    Costa -- Rooney -- (Zamora)

It looks great. I have, in fact, basically turned my actual team into a very similar team with my 2 transfers so far. The combined wisdom of all FFS is apparently a lot smarter than me. I'm thinking I'll make a team value oriented transfer. So do I get rid of:
    A. Caulker
    B. Zamora
    C. Begovic

Getting rid of Caulker seems to be popular with the masses, even though it seems ridiculous to me. Do I go with that then if I want to follow the FFS herd?

I'd say the biggest 3rd striker to get just now would be Naismith? Therefore Zamora to Naismith to be following the crowd?

Can't without making a double transfer. No money in the bank.

Haha, that looks dangerously close to my team. In fact, only Chester (Chambers), Jones (Lovren), Mata (Tadic), and Zamora (Naismith) are different.

Agree on Caulker, people seem to chase points though. Caulker has had the most shots on (and off) target by any defender so far, and if not for a line-clearance vs QPR and a last-minute missed sitter he could have scored 2-3 times already. That goal + CS that Chester got could easily have been Caulkers. People will buy him again as soon as he scores a goal, especially if he goes to under 5.0. I'm gonna hold onto him anyways.

Begovic could easily have had 2 CS's as well and has great fixtures coming up. Stoke had the 4th best home defense last season too so I wouldn't advise trading him. I'm rotating him and Krul which works great.

I'd get rid of Zamora, but not sure if there's any value at lower than 6.0 apart from Naismith. Bojan might be a good pickup closer to 5.0 if he continues to drop, especially since he'll soon play LEI and QPR in GW4 and GW5.

I've been wrestling for the past two days about who to trade Davis for since I had 3.0 itb and he is going to drop, but finally pulled the trigger on Tadic. It was a tough choice between him and Lamela or Eriksen, but fixtures look better for him in the next 6-8 rounds.

A lot of familiar gravs on here so gonna ask for some helps
    Krulliott
    Terry Debuchy Caulker Hutton Chester
    Eriksen Ramsey Siggy Albrighton Davis
    Rooney Costa Sturridge
    1 million in the bank

Need to upgrade Davis and i dont mind taking a hit this week.. got a couple options below
    A) Caulker to 4.0 and Davis to DeJong
    B) Terry to 4.5/4.0 and Davis to Lamela
    C) Debuchy to 4.0 and Davis to Tadic
    D) Sturridge to Adebayor/Jovetic and Davis to Sterling
    E) Davis to Larsson.. leaves cash for Sturridge to Aguero if required.

I like D...Sturridge in the 2 matches played hasn't looked that great and with Balo coming in..his prospect weakens....Sterling on the other hand looks like their most attractive player..

option D imo! Im confused between Adebayor or Jovetic myself to repalce giroud. but both good options for sturridge seeing u get sterling in return. U guarantee coverage plus dont lose out on points. Sterling will score more points than sturridge i believe this season and plus now they have ballotelli, who will eb used more in PL and sturridge more in CL.

      Hello there Valar!
A C Or D imo even tho I dont like Jove nor Ade long term
I saw your S vs S post over there, and I prefer sterling but he has no place in my midfield
I have 2 FTs, but I'm thinkin twice before using both before the IB in a week
      I could do Aguero C & De Jong/Tadic for Sturr & Lamela
I might even do jove C for Sturridge but then Bring back Sturridge for his nice run

Sturridge to Jove and back to Sturridge seems a waste mate. prob decide on just lettin go of sturridge IF you decide to let go. i have a feeling he is gonna burn me the second i get rid(now that he'll have a striker upfront to help him)

Thanks all.. looks like D) wins by a landslide. tbh my favorite option was B)/D) and expected the aguero love to lead me towards E) 🙂 .. think i'll stick with D) then and try and get my team back on track. Gonna have to decide between Jovetic and Adebayor with a seperate poll 🙂 ..

Haha, I feel your pain. I too had Davis from the start and he's done faff all so far and looks ready to drop.

Thankfully I had 3.0 itb and I was willing to take a hit without a FT (i already did Bojan>Naismith this GW). My options were a direct swap for Tadic, Eriksen, Lamela, Henderson, or Cabella.

After a lot of deliberation I chose Tadic for the following reasons:
      - virtually guaranteed to start
      - no European football distraction (unlike the Spurs duo)
      - Great fixtures, compared to Spurs (3 top 4's in next 6 games)
      - He was the 2nd highest rated player in Holland last season, and already has an assist this year.
      - Spurs looked poor against West Ham, and I think reading too much in to Lamela's performance against a shit QPR team is a mistake.
      - Tadic is a real "differential", and has two forwards who can finish around him in Pelle and Long.
      - Cabella has poor strikers infront of him, and hasn't clicked yet. More style than substance.
      - Getting Tadic leaves me with 0.5 itb which provides flexibility next week if I need to make a change.

The problem with this Citeh side is when they attack in waves, literally anyone of Kun,Jovetic,Silva,Nasri, Dzeko can score. Rotation galore.

Not to mention Citeh finishing the games with Yaya further forward with Fernando and Fernandinho in the middle. He is gonna score big soon.

    Lottery.

Yeah, but they scored 102 goals last season. Plenty of goals to go around. And on the rare occasion that Aguero's healthy, you have to fancy him to score more than anyone.

Aguero will outscore them all. Plus, getting rid of one of Hazard or Costa gives you a potential captain from another team.

Nasri had 0 shots. Silva is more of a creator. Dzeko/Jovetic/Aguero, highly likely that only 2 will be on the pitch at the same time. Sure they'll share goals, but with a side that scores so many, it hardly matters if the goals are shared.

Of course it matters. Especially if you own the player that doesn't score.

And you can't put a value on the frustration of owning the player that doesn't start.

Nasri/Dzeko - both 8.5m - will prob both score around the 150pts mark over the season. There is better value in other places.

Posted this before but it got lost on the bottom of the page:

      Depends what you're after, really.

      Most nailed-on, sturdy option: Marney
Potential for attacking returns: Albrighton, Quinn, Boyd
A little of both worlds: King (until James returns from injury at least)

Don't like Cattermole as an option due to the inevitable bookings he'll receive. Think Bentaleb is on borrowed time as Paulinho and Dembele build into the season following the world cup, though a spurs follower would know better than me.

I'd play it safe with Marney or Wanyama. This King guy looks intriguing-- only attacking mid to start both matches so far-- but he can't be nailed on. I don't know anything about him though.

Thanks to your answers in my last post. I asked about Rose because i thought Poccho would put Vertho as LB with Fazzio and Dier as Cb.

    My current defense is this:

Jones Lovren Caulker Debuchy PVA Waird.

    I'm planning to do
    Lovren -> Rose
    Caulker -> Coloccini

And finally Jones -> Cahill/Terry after next week.

'At the moment, it is difficult to say who is the best striking partner for him because Alvaro Negredo is injured and Kun Aguero is not yet 100% but he can play with anyone.'

Suggesting that he is ahead of Dzeko in the pecking order

A few days ago there was a suggestion that Jovetic and Aguero were too similar to partner each other and that is why Dzeko would have to play ahead of Jovetic. is this still somewhat true? or can Jovey and aguero play together? what do you reckon City's formation would look like if so? Jovetic in the hole/wide left?

i was just thinking of that partnership 🙂 .. Jovetic IN by the looks of it. Can do it tonight but considerin the risk involved with taking out a big hitter like Sturridge i'll wait until Friday night and ignore Davis price drops/Jovetic price rises

Aguero in behind Jovetic. Jovetic playing where Dzeko plays.

Has Jovetic ever played in a true number 9 role? Both would be pretty much interchangeable or Aguero a bit in front, I would think.

He reminds me a bit of Tevez.. can see him and Aguero having a similar partnership to the tevez/aguero one tbh

From the comments of the manager after the game, I can only say that the theory was a myth. Jovetic ran the show yesterday, I don't think Pellegrini can drop him after a performance like that

Will be a 4-2-2-2 with Jove and Dzeko up front for the stoke game, will aguero getting around 30 minutes

The comments database runs off two servers which aren't always perfectly in sync and sometimes when you refresh the page frequently you end up calling one or other of the servers alternately meaning you sometimes get marginally different query results.

ATM, there are 0 replies on each comment. Been happening since yesterday night for me. I have to click on the replies from the recent comments widget, and that only allows me to see all the rplies for that particular comment. Real pain in the ass. Not sure it's the same problem you're thinking of.

I'm thinking of a different problem (which perhaps has been fixed) - the problem you're describing does still relate to the comments server(s) though but I'm afraid I don't know precisely what. If it keeps happening I'll flag it up.

He won't get benched next week. Further than that, I'm not so sure. One thing I know though, is that Aguero can come off the bench and score. He'll get more minutes than this GW as well.

            Aguero - 30-45 minutes STO, 60-90 after/starts.

Jovetic - 60-90 minutes STO, beyond that I don't know

            Dzeko - Same as Jovetic

            IMO.

            Hard choice.......really tempted by Aguero.

    My lineup,

    Krul
    Ivanovic Chambers Jones
    Sterling Lamela Ramsey Sigurdsson
    Costa Giroud Rooney

    Subs:
    Manonne Wanyama Wilson Dummett

The dilemma is now, Giroud will be out for 3 month and sorry to say this LVG 3 defend tactic might not work. I don't see Jones keeping a cleansheet the next match and Rooney din't get the supply ball from it midfield. Arsenal also fail keep a cleansheet after 2 game and I see AW will use the Metersacker and Koscielny partnership in the next game.

Who should I bring in for this two player
    Giroud > ?
    Jones > ?

Who knows? I don't understand what Liverpool are doing. They're making Tottenham's use of their Bale money look downright genius. I can't see them taking Sterling's starting role regularly, but they could be subbed on for Sterling for a change of pace or start in place of him when Sterling needs to be rested.

I stopped updating my team a little over halfway through last season. I'm willing to do it if we do a bid-style draft with 15-20 players. Last season, no one in my group would ever trade and the best strategy was to drop your defenders and get new ones regularly. More players would help with both of those, I think. But I guess I don't get much of a say since I'm not willing to set it up.

      Draft leagues are terrible.

Was in a 12 team league last year & had *zero* fun.

Spending all your time scouring the waiver wire to find a nailed on Fulham defender just so you can field a full XI makes you really not like fantasy.

It *could* work if you ran it with 6 players & kept the benches fairly short so the player pool was constantly being refreshed...

      1. Walrus Eggs
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 3 months ago

This was my main issue with it as well. IMO, we should draft more players, and not have a waiver wire. Everyone fields an 11 man team out of 23 or something like that.

Naw, even then if an injury or two hits you're truly done.

Example: I had Benteke & Walcott last year & once your heavy hitters go down that's it.

It's not like in NFL fantasy where the player pool is 300+ deep, right?
Even the #48 receiver can come in to help you out but, there's no equivalent in FPL.

There are *maybe* 12 strikers who scored more than 10+ goals last year.
Lose one of them & you just ain't finding another no matter how deep your benches are.
