Obtaining a better balance to your squad is fundamental to Fantasy success. It’s all very well selecting the likes of Frank Lampard and Robin Van Persie but if such luxury choices leave you rummaging around the bargain basement for players that offer little returns, it’s perhaps time for a re-think.

Since the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2011/12 game launched on late Thursday evening, we’ve been working away in the background and, after many hours of number-crunching, have produced our first set of Projected Points Returns for the upcoming season.

The factors taken into consideration with our Projections are varied- past performance, team tactics, possible rotation, the impact of new signings, susceptibility to injury, the new FPL Bonus Points system and even January 2012‘s African Cup of Nations come into the equation. As pre-season continues and the season unfolds, we will update these figures on a regular basis to offer an up-to-date reflection of each player’s potential going into Gameweek one. Our full list of “Projections” will be released on the Members Area early next week but, over a series of articles, we’re going to start to dissect them right here and now for our Members.

Our aim is to help shape your Fantasy squad for the upcoming campaign with a series of articles highlighting those players who come out favourably in one of the most vital categories- value per Fantasy pound. By identifying the likely returns on offer next season, we pick our way through the positions and look, in the main, at the low-to-mid-price candidates who will hopefully provide that all-important balance required for your Fantasy squad ahead of the start of next season.

We kick off by turning our attentions to the top ten goalkeepers…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Chelsea have offered him as part of the Modric deal. Also, there is talk of Lukaku (young striker from Anderlecht) being signed. I reckon Sturridge will be sold or loaned out so could be a good option depending on where he goes. He is suspended for the start of the season though.

Them offering Daniel as part of Modric deal as bonkers and not true. Not even Chelsea poor excuse for a board would do that.
Daniel wont leave, he possibly wont play that much either this season but he wont leave.

I know for a fact that Sturridge was definitely offered as p/ex alongside a wodge of cash for Modric. I can see why Spurs wouldn't go for it though, he's to similar to Defoe.

Villa Boas could give him a go this year, but I'd expect him to be on loan again, probably to someone not likely to challenge the top 6.

Gervinho: Unproven in the PL and not guaranteed a start. Won't take set-pieces.
Bothroyd: Unproven in the PL and will struggle to get eight goals all season.
Ba: Fair enough, but he's got a bit of competition at Newcastle, and I think they're relegation fodder.

But each to their own. You should see my dodgy defence.

I quite liked the look of him at Cardiff, he's in my latest lineup as the cheap striker, but I don't know if he'd make the final cut.

Looks good. However, do zou reallz need Cech and Given? I like VDV but I reckon Malouda is a better bet for the start of the season due to fixtures. Otherwise all good.

I have had RVP in my team until now but looking at the fixtures could Bent actually be a smarter option and leave 2m in the bank to get RVP in GW4?

      Given (Gordon)

A Johnson is competing with Demebele for one spot.

Torres is another big question mark unless Drogba is sold before the transfer window closes. In fact even if Drogba goes and Torres is guaranteed first choice he's still a big question mark due to his performances last season and glass legs.

Don't think doubling up on the City defence is a problem for as long as they are both first choice and fixtures are good. Should do well for clean sheets.

Buzsaky is 4.5m and was being hyped around until the Taarabt announcement. When it comes to unsettled players in the transfer market nothing is guaranteed so you may want to keep the Buzsaky option at the back of your mind. Otherwise I think you need to spend a little more.

I've got Kompany & Lescott, as well as Yaya (Raphael & Luiz also in defence). Still funds for Nani, VDV and Carroll with Maxi as gamble player. Barton fills last spot with Ba main bench player.

Why no Nani love? Top FPL scorer last season, not over-expensive and since when do tough fixtures bother the top teams? No-one seems to have him.

For a period last season I had Hart plus 2 City defenders and it worked very well. Problem came when I needed to get rid of Drogba and Tevez seemed the best option so had to lose a defender. There's also the rotation issue with Kompany looking like the only nailed on starter.

Maybe go Kompany, Clichy and Lescott for £18.5m plus 2 rotating backups between 4-5m? You're likely to get at least 2 of those playing each week so could set whichever rotating backup is at home ahead of the other backup in the substitutions list.

Rooney + 1 looks, atleast today as a gamble. Imo your front is to weak. I´d say 2 heavy hitters upfront is key this year. Though either Holt or Graham could be this years Adam so, i couldent be more wrong - it all depends. If it was ME, i´d go for either of Holt and Graham and tweek to get the likes of Zamora perhaps, alongside Rooney.

I cashed out last night with a similiar bet on Peru. The stake immediately appeared back in my account but not the profit until the game was over.

Could be missing something but seems like an easy way to minimise risk of losing stake whilst guaranteeing a profit at the same time.

Anyways hears to hoping suarez gets another so i can win my bet on uruguay/suarez top scorer at 100 to 1 as well!

    Scwarzer- Given
    Givet-Figuroa-Clishy-Marin.r- 4mil def
Lampard (C)-Dempsey-Taarbat-N'Zogbia ( if he goes to Villa)-Pennant
    Bent, Ba and Suarez

My thoughts are to avoid Tottenham Arsenal and Man utd., with the plan to make the wild card after round 3.
By then it will be easier to see who will play in Manchester Midfield - Young , Nani , Valencia, and who will play forward - only with Rooney, or Hernandez-Rooney.
Same with Arsenal RVP, or Gervino with RVP.

Fulham and Villa rotate very badly so you may want to change one of your keepers, Scwarzer should go.

Midfield and attack looks good though you may have sacrificed to much in defence to enable that.

I'm not sure planning to use the wildcard early is a good idea. I think it should only happen if your initial teams is looking in need of major surgery after a few weeks. Should aim to have a team that can do well for a while with 1-2 transfers per week then used wildcards to set up a good team for another run of fixtures once the current team picks up too many injuries, suspensions, players losing form, players being dropped etc. I lost my league last year because I stupidly used a wildcard early when I didn't need to. Towards the end of the season when my rivals caught up and overtook me I was in desperate need of a wildcard due to too many players suffering from these problems.

I'am playing each season with the use of wild card early, and I won 4 of 5leagues that i played ( with 4-7 other opponents).
Using a wild card early gives me a good start with value(money) of the team. As for a goalkeeper Ful- AV, AV - Blackburn, AV - wolves , Ful -blackburn. can't be better than this for the first 4-5 rounds.
this is not the final team, I 'm waiting to see what will happen with Tevez.
For the wild-card i will take better defence ( rafael, ivanovic, clichy), and get rid of Lampard -12mil. But for now i need the captain, and Chelsea has easiest start.
