Obtaining a better balance to your squad is fundamental to Fantasy success. It’s all very well selecting the likes of Frank Lampard and Robin Van Persie but if such luxury choices leave you rummaging around the bargain basement for players that offer little returns, it’s perhaps time for a re-think.

Since the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2011/12 game launched on late Thursday evening, we’ve been working away in the background and, after many hours of number-crunching, have produced our first set of Projected Points Returns for the upcoming season.

The factors taken into consideration with our Projections are varied- past performance, team tactics, possible rotation, the impact of new signings, susceptibility to injury, the new FPL Bonus Points system and even January 2012‘s African Cup of Nations come into the equation. As pre-season continues and the season unfolds, we will update these figures on a regular basis to offer an up-to-date reflection of each player’s potential going into Gameweek one. Our full list of “Projections” will be released on the Members Area early next week but, over a series of articles, we’re going to start to dissect them right here and now for our Members.

Our aim is to help shape your Fantasy squad for the upcoming campaign with a series of articles highlighting those players who come out favourably in one of the most vital categories- value per Fantasy pound. By identifying the likely returns on offer next season, we pick our way through the positions and look, in the main, at the low-to-mid-price candidates who will hopefully provide that all-important balance required for your Fantasy squad ahead of the start of next season.

We kick off by turning our attentions to the top ten goalkeepers…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

id replace thomas with jarvis or sinclair by downgrading alhabsi to ruddy. id mention barton, dont know if you want 3 newcastle though.

is there a nailed on swansea defender at 4.0? besides monk who may not be ready for the start of the season. (though i wouldnt need him till GW2.)

or is there another 4.0 defender not from newcastle or QPR who will get regular playing time?

good shout. doesnt fit my needs though. im looking for a cheap defender that rotates with simpson and alcaraz, which means a player who is away gw1 and home gw2. im researching some possibilities, just dont know if nailed on. swansea fits the criteria. norwich does as well but already have ruddy.

Richie De Laet at Norwich is a sound a call as any for £4.0m. Also Grant Hanley is being greatly overlooked by many a FF manager, he will surely get games as a like for like replacement for the departed Phil Jones.

again, good shouts, but my vision of perfection doesnt mesh. Silly to have de laet and ruddy? I guess ruddy just takes up space and i can play given every week. if i double up on norwich defense i may be laughed out of my mini league.

im expecting the norwich defense to depreciate over the season.. problem with having more than one if the lost value when you invariably end up changing things up during the season..

Lads, would you advise me to change my password on FPL on the 10th August temporarily to some random code and write it down, put it somewhere safe. Not easily accesible? For the simple reason. Its my b'day (woo!) around that time, and am having family and fam friends and stuff round on 11th, getting drunk. Friday, mates round, getting slaughtered. Then saturday got another bbq round a mates, getting p*ssed again, so may be inclined to rage transfer players out on the saturday evening, and then on the 14th, I can check my team again. Would you reccommend doing this? I will be inclined to check FPL whilst p*ssed, so is it worth risking that late injury worry and friday press conferences ?? Don't even want to check my team saturday morning, my head will be killing, and if i do something last minute i'll be kicking myself.

Yeaa, theres what i'm doing for my birthday, haha, was originally meant to be, i'm getting p*ssed 3 days in a row, around deadline day etc. etc. Sorry for the details. (Grant Holt is essential).

So after days of tinkering this is what I think is a solid team :

    Given/Ruddy
    Kompany/Lescott/Bramble/Simpson/Orr
    Lampard/Taarabt/Sinclair/Barton/O'Hara
    RVP/Rooney/Holt

Lescott - Luiz in GW2 if he plays vs Stoke

There's 6/7 penalty takers in there and 3 reliable captain options, I'm just hoping that the promoted players can live up to the hype. Also hoping citeh and liverpool dont run riot early on.

Begovic and Ruddy are best options options to rotate with Given.

Stoke and Villa are on rotation so Begovic would be obvious choice but Al-Habsi has arguably better fixtures to rotate Villas poor ones.

RATE MY TEAM PLS!! I believe it is very good, but open to any criticism

    Al Habsi (Given)

    Kompany Samba Alcarez (Collins) (Bosingwa)

Taraabt (C) Malouda Moses Y Toure (Sinclair)

    Bent Balotelli (VC) Zamora

Bosingwa is there as i believe he will be Chelsea's rb..but can be changed for another chelsea defender if not the case

Balotelli will be replaced after first few weeks by either suarez or van persie depending on fixtures. If man city sign aguero he comes straight in for balotelli. 1.5 mil in the bank. thanks in advance

100% agree. Sooner they get rid the better. Sure he's a talented player but certainly not good enough to warrant taking that kind of grief. The whole club would be better off without him

    Tough tough, decisions!

Was liking the thought of RVP and Rooney but with A.Cole I don't think it's feasible. Can afford Malouda/VDV if I downgrade one of Wazza or RVP to Bent. But then I have no Arsenal cover, not that fixtures are good but RVP is fairly fixture proof. Same if I keep RVP, no Utd coverage. Can't decide....

I'm going with Wazza, I think the first fixture is equally as attractive as Arsenal's, if not more. And the next two games at OT.

And although its now cliche, RVP will probably get injured in the international break (GW3).

I think RVP could score in the first 2 easily and there could be a price rise. He is even captaincy option for GW1.

On the other hand Villa are tempting for every part of our team. Attack, mids, defense and goalie. I am scared by the defensive approach of there manager.

Personally, I'm hopeful he'll be fine - he had 9 weeks off over the winter and was eased in slowly at Liverpool. There was also a bit of a gap between the end of the PL season and his hooking up with Uruguay.

Can I ask if you're going to play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2? I wonder if it's money wasted on Zamora for a player you'll rotate if you're gonna play 3-5-2 (midfielders generally score higher than strikers due to the point bonus for clean sheets + extra goal point) You could go Rafael> Hughes, Taarabt > Valencia and Zamora> Cheapie.
