Obtaining a better balance to your squad is fundamental to Fantasy success. It’s all very well selecting the likes of Frank Lampard and Robin Van Persie but if such luxury choices leave you rummaging around the bargain basement for players that offer little returns, it’s perhaps time for a re-think.

Since the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2011/12 game launched on late Thursday evening, we’ve been working away in the background and, after many hours of number-crunching, have produced our first set of Projected Points Returns for the upcoming season.

The factors taken into consideration with our Projections are varied- past performance, team tactics, possible rotation, the impact of new signings, susceptibility to injury, the new FPL Bonus Points system and even January 2012‘s African Cup of Nations come into the equation. As pre-season continues and the season unfolds, we will update these figures on a regular basis to offer an up-to-date reflection of each player’s potential going into Gameweek one. Our full list of “Projections” will be released on the Members Area early next week but, over a series of articles, we’re going to start to dissect them right here and now for our Members.

Our aim is to help shape your Fantasy squad for the upcoming campaign with a series of articles highlighting those players who come out favourably in one of the most vital categories- value per Fantasy pound. By identifying the likely returns on offer next season, we pick our way through the positions and look, in the main, at the low-to-mid-price candidates who will hopefully provide that all-important balance required for your Fantasy squad ahead of the start of next season.

We kick off by turning our attentions to the top ten goalkeepers…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

With the first three gameweeks in mind, rating out of 10?

    Hart (Given)
    Dunne, Kompany, Alcaraz, Hangeland (Orr)

Cause the defenders usually needs time to bring the points. Usually 10-15 GW's. At the beginning u want fast points and price rise of your team. 4 3 3 is playing it really slow IMO.

Wouldn't have Rooney in there from the start (probably Liverpool bias) VDV's first 3 are awful (then again, it's a marathon not a sprint) and I don't like Tiote in FPL.

Tiote won't play very often, if at all, just a cheap mid to fill the spot. Who would you suggest instead of Rooney, at least he is guaranteed a start and Man U hardly ever never score. VDV is in good form pre-season and yes it is not a sprint, thanks for the feedback

If Fabregas, as expected leaves, and Nasri follows, Wilshere will assume a huge amount of creative responsibility at Arsenal.

For the Chelsea side, see Lampard and Malouda being overpriced, though Drogba is a reasonable option if he starts the season well, could be bought in if Suarez is rested and Vidic is swapped for Evra. Also Modric/Pastore may be Chelsea options if either move comes off.

        Cheers for the feedback.

If Fabregas and Nasri leave i'd say Ramsey is more likely to fill the creative roll.
As for chelsea, Lamps and Malouda one of them will be essential given Chelsea's fixtures, and if youre getting Drogba be prepared for lots of rotation with Torres.

I think the opposite is true. The way he plays and what he says makes me think he is bright. He's not just some boring robot; he's got an opinion and he tries to do ridiculous things.

the way he plays? yeah, red card after red card, wasteful shots, petulance, etc. To be able to try those ridiculous things and maintain respect, you first have to show that you can be a superior player..playing the right way. he hasn't.

too much in defence, Drogba may be rotated with Torres, Gervinho - we don't know how he will be used. Nani rotation risk, Ben Arfa picked up an injury, I would downgrade defence and upgrade a mid fielder

Nah to doubling-up on Newcastle midfielders. Choose one, and leave it at that. Also, you got some mighty big balls to go with that midfield; Sinclair, Taarabt and Barfa are all untested, so it could go well or it could go...

Same with your fwds - Drogba will be in and out of the team, and it's Gervinho and Holt's first season in PL.

Love the Defence. You've no reliable captain options up front, Gervinho is a bit risky when he's new to the premiership, and Drogba will be rotated alot with Torres.

hey guys, RMT please 😀 of course probably gonna be changed here and there but i like the general idea of it:

    Given/Ruddy
    Kompany/Luiz/Jose Enrique(if he moves Liv/Ars) /Orr/Wilkinson
    Malouda/Nzogbia/Taarabt/Albrighton/Sinclair
    RVP/Holt/Torres

personally, id put bent/carrol/suarez/zamora ahead in potential returns atm.

he's always been a fav of mine too and if he catches fire, then i know he'll kill it.

the only problem being is that from what we've seen, he's still where he was last season.

i hear you, the designated penalty taker. but still.. kevin davies takes the pens at bolton and he struggles for double figures most seasons.

personally, i'm looking for at least 10-15 goals each from my forwards so im looking at the bigger picture. i.e. whether or not they will be an out-out success.

might sound like too much to hope for from graham, but i haven't got him or holt in my squad. (investing in my front line)

I think I'm going to stick with A for now. Luiz and Rafael will be consistent starters. Yaya will stay unless Man City get another creative midfielder, and Rodallega's gotta get a couple of goals in those first 3 games. Which leaves me with this to ponder, Rooney or RVP?

I'd say hardnut Barton plus Sinclair. If you can get 0.5 more, then go for Barton and Taarabt.

Definitely would avoid Davies up front.

Penalty taker + Elmander & Sturridge gone. Poor fixtures sure but can be rotated till they improve. Who would you replace him with?

I'm a Bolton fan and he just won't score anywhere near enough goals to justify fantasy attention. You could have Holt for 1.0 less.

He's hoping for assists from free kicks earned, I'd wager.
