With the international break affording us time to reflect on proceedings, we roll out the first in a series of three members articles. Starting with the defenders, we assess some of the standout contenders across the first three Gameweeks of the 2014/15 campaign.
Someone needs to explain to me why hazard is so bad? He has played so poor and only gets points from deflections...the oracle has yet again repeated him self..(don't worry about the vase)
Don't you get bored of this?
Don't you get bored of feeling the need to reply?
When have I replied to this before?
Many many times
Everyone feels compelled to stand up for hazard "cos he gets 200 plus points each season...let me check your history"(in a stupid voice"
Whos this guy :S
I'm the oracle.. I knew you would ask me that question
Don't worry about the vase
You took the blue pill yea?
When you reach my level it's not about the pills....straight to the bloodstream is the only way
Drugs do bad things to people
Nope, not many times.
You're weirdly obsessed with Hazard
Hatred for the guy...infuriates me how lucky he is with his deflections
All the ppl who have replied must have hazard...
I do. But I'm not defending him, just observing that you seem to talk about him all the time.
Dunno what your problem is. Dont want hazard dont own him. We dont need to know you hate the guy. Not interested to know why either.
I can tell you more if you change your mind....I'm starting. To think you are genuinely interested
Lay off the cough syrup.
Why the need to reply guys...I don't want to hear that you don't want to hear. If I dislike hazard I am well within my rights to scream it from the mountain tops
The oracle did live on a mountain so would be good place to shout from
If you had to wildcard, which 3 defenders would you start for following gameweek?
Would depend on my whole squad.
Shawcross Clyne Baines
Liverpool D and Phil Jones are good picks too
Krul / Elliot
Dier / Bertrand / Duff / Moore / Dummett
Ramsey / Sterling / Siggy / Haz / Albrighton
Rooney / Ade / Aguero
Any advice on what to do with my team would be much appreciated. Only have 1 FT but don't mind taking a 4 point hit if needs be. Or just stick for one more week and do something with 2 FT next week?
Apologies for the repost - just after a few more opinions.Wildcard starting to take shape;
Krul (Elliot)
Moreno_Clyne_Taylor (Wisdom_Moore)
Ramsey_Cesc_Silva_Sterling_Siggy
Costa_Falcao (Naismith)
Worth keeping Naismith in case of an unexpected no show, or downgrade to Vaz te and upgrade Moore to Wilson to rotate with Taylor in the defence?
Appreciate any thoughts. This is my team, I'm relatively happy with it but what do you think?
Krul Foster
Terry Chester Naylor PvA Rio
Hazard Ramsey Sterling Siggy Henderson
Costa Rooney Naismith
0.9 in the bank
1 FT
Was thinking of getting rid of a Chelsea player before their tough fixtures and maybe getting a Liverpool player too. Any other moves you would do?
Thoughts?
Cheers. 🙂would save
Could i get some advice on my team please? 1 FT 2.1 MITB

Def - Wilson, N.Taylor, PVA
Mid - Boyd , JWP, N.Powell
Spurs fans how nailed on is Adebayor-will he start 30+ games this year or does Pochettino like Soldado/Kane. And if so, with penalties, could be a good long term FPL target? Thanks
yes,think so
I don't know about season long, but I think for the next solid bunch of games it's his place to lose.
Kane is a prospect though, could get a good run under Poch and Soldado is apparently quality which hasn't yet been seen in England
My first WC draft with no Ramsey. Thoughts?
Krul / Elliot
Ivanovic / Clyne / ShawX / Moore / Duff
Sterling / Siggy / Fab / ADM / Marney
Welbeck / Sturridge / CostaPretty nice
I'd personally have Rambo over fab. But it's pretty much personal preference. Not sure about the shawx shout myself - feel he is due a big red at some point.
Any players you were strongly considering before the season started that you decided to go without for one reason or another?
Happy I backed out of Eriksen, Tadic, Filipe Luis and De Jong personally. All of those. And Sturridge too. Although I have a feeling his fortunes are about to change.
Yeah Sturridge still looks a great pick.. but of a dud points wise up until now but could definitely prove to be worth keeping over the season. It leaves your team in a comfortable enough position when none of your attacking players are complete failures.. even Mata proved to be decent with the 10 points in GW2.
Tadic was in my plans all the way up until I actually made my team.
Siggy, Costa, Sterling...
Hazard then realised I was being stupid
🙂
He's awful. One of the worst attacking players in the league. Gonna score at least 15 undeserved goals this season, let's not get him.
lol at your Hazard obsession.
Fabregas, Siggy, Eriksen, Nasri, Jelavic, Huth
I can honestly say I never seriously considered bad options which I don't have in my team.
However I wish I didn't have A Young in my team.I did consider Rivierre but decided to opt for god himself.
aka Steven NaismithJust checked my pre-season drafts (sad, I know).
Only players that made fleeting visits to my team were Ade, Eriksen, Costa, Jelavic, Shaw, Davies & Begovic (Snod got injured).
Costa the only Doozy decision I guess.Tadic and Pelle
DDG
Really struggling to decide between kun and Sturridge. Very hard choice.
Easy. Kun.
Hope that helps.Nah. I think we'll see quite a few silly dances over the next month or so.
Possibly. But Kun is Kun. You'd be surprised if he went on a run of blanks. Wouldn't be too much of a shock if Sturridge did.
Broo. Back to the windies ay 😉
I gotta hate you for a while now. See you on the other sideI didn't wanna say at the time as it would destroy team moral, but you were always the weak link in the team 😉
Funny that me and Ina were just saying how the favourites curse will be broken now that we've unloaded such an epic fail
😀 I have a feeling this is gonna be a fun tournament.
It's fixtures that worries me. If city had even marginally easier fixtures if get kun in a second. But yeah, I'm erring on the side of kun too.
yep
Me too. Sturridge's fixtures are great. City are away three times in the next four weeks, including ars and CHE. Then again, Aguero is just made to score in the big games isn't he
Hi all, I’ve been on WC for a few days and I know others are too so I’m sharing my thoughts on some of the most considered options in midfield and attack:
Costa – 10.6 The best striker pick, most in-from and nailed to start.
Naismith – 5.4 The facilitator, with sublime form to match his points. The only downside seems to be the competition amongst Everton’s strikers, enhanced by Europacup uncertainty. There have been thoughts that Naismith will play domestic games while Eto’o will play in Europe. It seems to be speculative but as most of the top striker’s face Europe many of us will roll the dice here.
Aguero – 12.1 He looks likely to score at any moment and with only three strikers at city is likely to play enough to justify the price. The price does though damage midfield and defence strategies so there’s a trade-off to be had.
Sturridge – 11.5 Some great touches on the weekend despite his mediocre show for England. He looks as hungry for goals as at the start of last year to me so as long as Balotelli isn’t too selfish should profit from Liverpool’s great fixtures.
Alloa – 5.5 Has shown fantastic form to score 2 in 3 against EVE, che and ARS. With two away games at traditionally defensive teams either side of Man Utd visiting however, I like others am willing to wait another couple of games before getting this new face in when his fixtures turn for the better. A solid punt.
Falcao – 11.0 A popular choice based on nothing other than he's a big name coming into the league. There's little consideration for time required for him to fit into a very different type of league, struggling team and climate which will seem alien to him. There's also the uncertainty of gametime as he beds in.
The FPL approach that usually proves most successful in using new players is to give them a week or two before committing.
Wellbeck – 6.9 Less risky than Falcao but confidence isn’t often rebuilt overnight (ahem Giroud), so as exciting as it is to see this talent playing more regularly it looks too soon for him as an FPL prospect.
Jovetic – 8.2 His poor performance against Stoke has put me off but against Liverpool in particular he continued the breathtaking form displayed in pre-season. If you’ve the balls he could be a great risk.
Ballotelli – 10.0 Has begun to show his quality however with Sturridge just looking that bit sharper and Sterling who is much cheaper and looking just as likely to score I’d just enjoy his antics for now.
RVP/Rooney – Great fixtures and new signings at behind them at Utd but didn’t we say that a few games ago. I’d wait for form and gametime before considering transferring either in for cheaper in-form alternatives.
Pelle – 7.5 He may still be an unknown punt but he looks like he’s settling in and with such great fixtures you’d fancy a couple of goals in the next six. Earlier options seem better though.
Weimann – 5.0 His next 5 fixtures read like a horror story.
Midfield
To me the first four pick themselves into the template:
Siggy – 6.5 Essential due to both his and Swansea’s form and the importance he plays within the team’s attack.
Sterling – 8.7 Fantastic form and even better fixtures, roaming around behind Balotelli and Sturridge should prove fruitful even though CL rotation risk looms ahead.
Fabregas – 9.3 I began with Eden however his lack of shots in the first two games and not even an assist from the six scored on the weekend has forced me to bow to Fabregas’ superiority. The man’s got a point to prove and it doesn’t look like he’s nearly close to having proven it yet.
Ramsey – 9.1 Has mediocre fixtures but for me has shown great consistency of quality.
Dyer – 5.5 I’ve watched two of Swansea’s games and thought he’s continued the superb quality of play he finished last season on into this. I just can’t see how to fit him in with Siggy however, particularly as they’re away to Chelsea this week.
Zaha – 5.4 An absolutely dominant performance on the weekend showed how much he is relishing returning to Palace after turbulent times with United. With good fixtures he looks a very good differential to me.
Scheiderlin – 5.6 Has turned it back on since any chance of a move away cooled off. Great fixtures too but would be be a knee-jerk move imo.
Di Maria – 9.5 Looked great on his debut and clearly has class, though for the same reasons as Falcao looks too high risk for me.
Sachez – 10.4 If he can find some consistency he could become essential, however we’ll need a few more displays like last weekend before forking out quite so much on a player with poor fixtures. Less likely to play Oops now Giroud has been replaced imo.
Puncheon – 5.9 He looked imperious in parts of last season and may continue that now, though for me he lacks consistency of FPL returns which would likely see him become one of those frustrating players to own.
(Budget)
Jones/Marney – Bur 4.5 There’s not a lot to set these two apart, both good benchers. Their average positions are similar though Marney makes more tackles so could be more likely to pick up yellows (in theory). Jones has taken one corner. I don’t know if either is under threat from new signings.
Quinn – Hul 4.5 Likely to be dropped for new signings according to Hull fans http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/POLL-Abel-Hernandez-Hatem-Ben-Arfa-Nikica-Jelavic/story-22878235-detail/story.html
King – Lei 4.5 May retain his place though with Drinkwater returning from Injury and Cambiasso likely to feature heavily he’s too much of a risk for me.
Boyd – Bur 4.4 Yet to play for his new club so too risky for me. May come in as a winger fairly soon http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/09/04/burnley-confirm-deadline-day-trios-squad-numbers/
Cattermole – Sun 4.6 Back to his old tricks of collecting yellows again now. Not worth the extra 0.1 imo.
Wanyama – Sou 4.5 Dropped for new signing Long last game.😯
For the love of God...
The gf's out tonight, and, I got carried away..
Lucky her.
And this is all you could think to do with a computer
He DID say that he had a gf! 😉
A man who can keep his hand going without cramp to write this post does not have a girlfriend
I thought of leaking some nude pics of myself but if I'm honest it would've been viewed by less people.
🙂
Basically the template should be:
Siggy, Sterling, Fabregas, Ramsey/Dyer/Zaha, Marney/Jones
Costa, Aguero/Sturridge, Naismith/UlloaI would read that but I have to go to work at 6am
Behemoth of a post, deserves a hulk for effort.
Agreed, plenty of detail in there and pretty much on the mark I'd say.
Nice insight for all those considering WC.
And not just WC. I made 3 transfers this week so of course I would agree with the merits of Aguero, Naismith and the Zaha punt.
I actually like Zaha as a punt, might switch him out for Mutch in a bit.
I wen't for him because I wanted to use Naismith in a rotation. Zaha fits the bill perfectly now the hope is the new gaffer will bring a more attacking philosophy to Crystal Palace
Indeed, I think Zaha can also create things from nothing as well, so still a decent pick if CP are under the cosh.
I've been looking at Zaha for a fifth mid for this reason but it's difficult to find an exit strategy for either that wouldn't include points hits.
Saving transfers is where its at. If you make a habit of it you'll be fine.
Very sound advice, cheers Ryan.
If you're honest there really isn't much detail. It's just loads and loads of names with a short sentence written after each.
I can write more if you enjoyed it. 🙂
I thought some discussion and not just me bangin' on would be nice.Well we wouldn't want it to be too long 😉
You have a small town in fife in there at 5.5
Haha! great knowledge of that foreign country.
I'll wait for this to come out on film.
😆
Spoiler alert. Jovetic dies after the 2nd act😆
Is this available in hardback - excellant Christmas present for Doosra.
Wait for the prequel on Keepers & Defence to come out first. It'll make a nice box-set.
You forgot Tadic
He needs to produce something first I think. Could be one of those players that flatter to deceive, for that reason I'd still consider him a punt.
I think we just need JWP to stop playing for him to be gold
JWP is really a CM and shouldn't be playing in an advanced role. Tadic and Mane should be flanking the striker I imagine.
No I mean JWP takes all the set pieces off him 😉
Oh right. Yeah its a hard one but this youngster has a bright future so I imagine the gaffer will want to continue to the clubs philosophy of developing young talent.
Completely agree with all of it
Well done. Was looking for something like this.
How long ago was it when deJong declared himself fully fit?
About 3 tweets!!!
Sorry - has he just declared himself fit or are you pointing out that he's hardly fit?
hurt
So many wildcarders. So little mention of Pelle, Fer and Cabella
Too many good forward options to fit Pelle in. When players like Sanchez and Hazard start producing goals then he will be considered more to allow them to fit.
Cabella looks very livelyDisagree re Pelle 😉
And not a mention of Livermoore, Downing or Delph too, it's ludacris
How do I do a rolls eyes smiley
lol I think just asking that question has the same effect 😉
: roll : = 🙄🙄
Oh boy you just called three guys who COULD score some point next week
Who the f cares. You know they are not Long Term picks and surely not wildcardpicks.
Pelle fcs, he scored one goal and Welbeck fe is much cheaper
Fer never scored points
Cabella is ok, but long term?
You know it
byeWho's party is this? What do we hit the Pinatta with?
I know who my new Bestie is
Yeah because they're clearly good 🙄
Pelle gets a mention above but there's too much uncertainty around Fer's role at Qpr I believe. Compared to the Swansea and Palace boys he seems overpriced.
The way he played at the weekend he'll be starting in the hole again
Perhaps, but then one bad game and Mutch or someone else could be in. Maybe Remy's return will push him out. I still think he's too punty to consider against the others.
Remy is a Chelsea player now. Fer really is a quality player. His role at Norwich has deterred people it seems but Arry wants him attacking. Was very successful in Holland.
Fair enough though he is 5.5 with some question marks. I'd at least be considering him if I was on a wcMy apologies, well noted.
I agree he's an exciting player. I think though it's too early and he may fade into the peripherals like Bolasie or Fer of last year.Yeah fair enough. I think they all carry that risk below siggy's price tbh. Zaha included
....or Tadic
Indeed!
Any price changes tonight yet lads?
1.5 hours to go, roughly
Cheers. Do we think Sterling and/or Rooney could rise/fall respectively?
No one knows Fionn. It seems like they've moved the goalposts this year.
Check out TotalFPL and FISO. But nothing seems concrete atm.
I think you are safe with Sterling, Rooney for tonight, anyway.Yeah I know, I heard TotalFPL isn't working/has been unreliable. I don't think many on here expected a second rise for Naismith last night?
I'm pretty set on Mata>Sterling this GW and had hoped to get the second lot of internationals out of the way first in case of injuries but I think there's too much chance of risers/fallers over the next 4 nights so might as well do it now. Sound reasonable?
Pellè.
NEW, swa, QPR, tot, SUN, STO, hul, LEI, av
That's some amazing run of fixtures. I'm thinking about getting him in for Bony. Only seen SOT on MOTD.
Anyone seen this guy for a full 90? Worth a shot as 3rd striker? 2% ownership is juicy too.I think he's a good option, especially as there appears to be an exit route in Welbeck now.
boom, GW8 exit strategy if he flops, I like your thinking SW6, it had certainly crossed my mind.
Yup and that's wc time
I'm going tadic instead and keeping my 5 man midfield.......for now.
Already brought him in RCA 😉
Nice.
Chambers -> Moreno
Bony -> Pelle
2 FTs
I'm doing it tonight, as don't want prices to screw me, 0.1😎
I did
Debuchy -> Moreno
Jovetic -> Pelle
😉
Bit of a donkey player by all accounts. I'd be wary about Long potentially stealing time as a loan striker. Especially with their new winger taking up a first team spot.
*lone
Unlikely. Koeman loves him
If Pelle performs then yeah he'd certainly keep his spot. He needs to keep his performances up though I think. Is he capable? well thats yet to be proven.
Over-thinking it mate. He's performing now and the fixtures are gold. Strike while the iron is hot 😉
Yep you could be onto it and its Likely Pelle will be a good option but I'd stop short of being 100% convinced about that. Certainly worth the risk anyway I think.
Yeah fair enough mate. I'm happy to have him 🙂
Pelle is very appealing, not least because of the fixtures: NEW, swa, QPR, tot, SUN, STO, hul, LEI, av - most of these teams are at the top of the current shots conceded in box rankings. I'm very tempted, a decent score against that leaky Newcastle defence looks possible.
Yup. Fixtures are perfect. 2 in his last 2. Seems to be finding his feet quickly coming off 2 excellent seasons in Holland
Jovetic owners. Are you keeping him this week?
Sold for Pelle
*Probably* getting rid for Naismith. What you thinking?
Toying with a WC to go from

Hello 🙂
hola
Hi all, I’ve been on WC for a few days and I know others are too so I’m sharing my thoughts on some of the most considered options in midfield and attack:
Costa – 10.6 Muffins are crap
Naismith – 5.4 Scottish
Aguero – 12.1 Dragonglass
Sturridge – 11. Good
Alloa – 5.5 a small town in fife
Falcao – 11. Broken
Wellbeck – 6.9 Row Z
Jovetic – 8.2 He he
Ballotelli – 10.0 Nut job
RVP/Rooney – Shite and shitier
Pelle – 7.5 shite
Midfield
To me the first four pick themselves into the template:
Siggy – 6.5 perfect
Sterling – 8.7 Perfect
Fabregas – 9.3 quality
Ramsey – 9.1 quality
Dyer – 5.5 bargain
Zaha – 5.4 shite
Scheiderlin – 5.6 Shite
Di Maria – 9.5 class
Sachez – 10.4 Expensive shite
Puncheon – 5.9 close to shite
(Budget)
Jones/Marney – Bur 4.5 Shite
Quinn – Hul 4.5 shite
King – Lei 4.5 shite
Boyd – Bur 4.4 shite
Cattermole – Sun 4.6 Shite
Wanyama – Sou 4.5 ShiteMutch better. Hulk this MF.
All right team mate? 🙂
lol "Sanchez - expensive shite"
*Gem encrusted.
Hulk!
Wow youre just doing that thing the guy above did but whitout all the extra text wow
Wow.

Wide screen?
No Hazard 😯
This is worse than no Mata.Hazard is just lucky it seems
Alloa a small town in fife ...ha....hulked
No, don't hulk that!
Alloa is not in Fife.
JTD, you should be ashamed of yourself. 😉Couldn't be bothered to look at map, it's in that little bit that sneaks in between fife
My badClackmannanshire
Stupid county, should be taken over by Lothian or fifeWhat I've seen of Alloa, Fife is welcome to it.
It is a midden
Too Funny!!
Please rate my team
Krul Myhill
Clyne Terry Debuchy Moreno Wisdom
Sigurdsson Sterling Di María Fabregas Zaha
Costa Balotelli Vaz Te
0.2 ITB
Would anyone make any changes???Wildcard?
yeah horrible start in which i had F Luis, Bruce, El Ahmadi, Giroud and Zamora
I'd probably look at cheapening the defence and upgrading Zaha or Vaz Te.
I don't think you look too bad. I'm not 100% on fixtures for your defenders this GW, but look to upgrade Debuchy and also Zaz Te over the next week or two?
yeah im pretty sure i will lock this in closer to match day. was tossing up between di maria/fab and tadic/hazard. i just like Tadic and have a gut feeling he will start to shine lol
apart from that, yeah maybe change DebuchyOh you def wanna hold onto Fab, and since you already have ADM you can't get rid after last nights exploits. You have quite a few players who might not neccessarily get into a WC team, but they're not worth using up a FT or a hit to change either
Lol nvm I might have misread - are you on your WC?
Yes on WC, horrible start unfortunately...
downgrade debuchy and terry maybe, upgrade vaz te
was thinking Terry would be a season defender for me with Chelsea and Mou destined for clean sheets and he is nailed on. May look to downgrade Debuchy but not too sure who to, and i doubt i would be playing a third striker with balo and costa up front!
Decisions decisions haha
Rare appearance of 442! Depends if you're on a WC but I'd downgrade Debuchy to a 4.5 (Wilson, Robertson) given Ars tough run of fixtures and upgrade Balo to Falcao.
Also there's an argument for Ivan/Rambo instead of Terry/ADM.
Otherwise looks good!Been a Balotelli fan since his inter days as im an inter fan so he will be a season striker for me haha...
I'd do most of what Jkjoel says above basically, if you're on WC you def shouldn't have Debuchy. Are there any other cheapo alternatives to Vaz Te? Not that you really intend to play him, but he's gunna lose his play in West Ham's XI soon
Leave you with a look back at a previous article and something to ponder with Tadic filled dreams:
http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/07/16/scouting-dusan-tadic/Come on and let me know, should I cool it or should I blow?
Evening, folk.
