This morning sees the return of that old favourite “Scout Scribbles”. We round up the most noteworthy of news or football rumours from the past 24 hours for your morning reading, with Spurs’ performance at MK Dons last night reminding us they have more than just one Croatian capable of making the headlines…

Nico Krancjar served a reminder of his talents last night in Tottenham’s 5-3 win at MK Dons. The Croatian played a part in 4 of his side’s goals, creating three and scoring one. Roman Pavlyuchenko grabbed Spurs’ opening two goals but Jermaine Defoe again struggled. Defoe, scorer of just 4 league goals last season, was given 75 minutes game time by Harry Redknapp last night but the England man failed to find the net again and has been linked with a move to Newcastle in this morning’s papers.

Nigel Reo Coker is set to follow Darren Pratley by moving to Bolton this summer. Signed by Villa for £8.5m four years ago, he will arrive at the Reebok on a free transfer and represents a savvy piece of business by Owen Coyle. He’ll offer plenty competition to a central midfield area that already has Stuart Holden, Fabrice Muamba and fellow new boy Pratley as the main contenders for a place in Coyle‘s starting line-up, though Reo-Coker is perhaps the most versatile of the four, and will offer Coyle options at right-back and right midfield. The Trotters boss has also been linked with a raid on former club Burnley for winger Chris Eagles and right-back Tyrone Mears, in addition to a move for Liverpool’s David N’Gog.

QPR have turned their attentions to Southampton’s Jason Puncheon as they look to boost the ranks at Loftus Road. Neil Warnock’s side have made a bid for the winger and offered centre-half Kaspars Gorkss in exchange. Puncheon spent last season on loan at Millwall and Blackpool and clearly has little future at St Mary’s, but Gorkss played a major part in helping QPR to last season’s Championship and a move away from the club at this stage will be something of a surprise. Ranked as the top QPR defender in our Members projections, such a move will see us readjust the figures accordingly.

Having missed out in the chase for Craig Gardner, Wolves are still very much in the market for a new central midfielder. Mick McCarthy has already snapped up Jamie O’Hara but has been linked with a loan move for Liverpool’s Jay Spearing and forgotten Man City man Michael Johnson. The club are also eyeing up Thomas Hitzlsperger, with the German a free agent after being released by West Ham following the club’s relegation last season.

West Brom look to be on the verge of signing a new keeper. With Scott Carson leaving the club this close season, Boaz Myhill is currently the number one but the Baggies have been strongly linked with both Robert Green and Ben Foster this summer. The club’s assistant manager Michael Appleton admitted last night

“Hopefully they’ll be one or two arrivals in the coming days…we’re at a stage where we’re nearer rather than further away from getting one or two in.”

Swansea have agreed a £1.75m fee with Middlesboro for Leroy Lita. The forward will travel to Wales to discuss personal terms later this week and follows Danny Graham in moving to the Liberty Stadium this summer. Brendan Rodgers’s 4-3-3 will offer only one of the pair a place in the starting line-up and with Graham being Swansea’s number one target this summer, Lita may well find himself warming the bench next term on more occasions than not.

Liverpool, it appears, are still in the market for Jose Enrique. The Newcastle left-back has just one year left on his contract but has fallen foul of the St James’ Park hierarchy of late, and was fined for criticising the club on twitter. With Enrique able to leave Newcastle for free next term, Kenny Dalglish is eyeing up a £5m bid.

Changed my team slightly. Don't want to change the attack although I'm tempted by Bent. Is this better?

I just think the midfielders are hard to call right now so want 3 big guns upfront. Means I could easily go for bent or ronney or suarez when i do make a transfer or either drog or torres once it becomes obv how chelsea intend to play.

          Options in midfield...
          A) Sinclair, O'hara, Barton
          B) Taarabt, O'Hara, Watson
          C) Taarabt, Barton, Watson

I'd go for a cheeper midfielder and upgrade Holt. I'd also stay away from united defence until injuries set in or team becomes easier to predict. Lots of good cheap defenders this year like, warnock, johnson, walker, bosingwa, gibbs

Watching the Blackburn/Villa match, any thoughts on what Mauro Formica will come in priced at? Anyone know whether he'll be looking to get regular field time this year? He hasn't been too sharp this game, but potential could be there. If he's a dirt cheap price, could be a decent option to hold down a cheap midfield spot.

Self-confessed tactical hybrid of Sir Bobby Robson (4-3-3 attacking style with three forwards), Mourinho (defensive organisation and pressing) and Pep Guardiola (possession football).

Ha! No not yet.... my tactics to start the season are usually to pick 11 safe bets, then wildcard in GW3 or 4 once it becomes clear who the differential bandwagons will be. Can usually get team value up to 105-106 within few weeks doing this which sets team up for rest of the season

Which formation do you want to play each week?

2 strong DF - I assume rotation between the other 3 (Have you checked these so you get a good Home rotation each week?)

          Lamps a must....
Toure - be careful maybe playing more defensive this season due to Aguero purchase...
          Taarabt is a bargin
Sessingnon has poor fixtures (Javis better option imo)

Ok, 3-4-3 is a good formation

              Defense looks solid

Sessingnon - not solid on "excellent" - home to newcastle (derby), away to swansea (Unknown quantity), home to chelsea (nuff said), home to stoke (Known for being solid at the back), away to norwich (see Swansea)

I can see why you would get him though... Sunderland do attack alot!

am thinking taking cole/luiz out getting someone like bardsley and upgrading dyer. if i have any injuries ill be goosed!!

anyone else think its REALLY expensive this year? carroll has doubled RVP joint highest player? crazy trying to get value.

oh and my first 11 is better 😉

        Schwarzer Given
        Cole Samba Bramble Williams Gabbidon
        Lampard Moses Watson Ireland X
        RVP Tevez/Aguero Rodallega

        X ≤ 5.0 million

Any advice? Preferably someone with a decent first fixture.

What about the rest of the team? Quite out of the loop at the moment, so would really appreciate any help, other than people pointing out that I have 3 Wigan players - I already know that. 😉

Who'd have thought Broad would play as well as that? I was on the verge of posting something on Twatter after his first over, which was utter filth.

And from that point, he was excellent. He even showed some grace when Bowden was turning down blatant wickets.

                A corner turned, I hope.

i am going down the route of the 3 top players from the promoted sides (all on set pieces etc) with the expectation that 2/3 from will be OK. Can transfer out the crap one and should be set for value rises from the outset.

Think this is the best i've done so far, so RMT:

        Given (Moreira) - 9
        A.Cole-Kompany-Jose Enrique (Orr-Simpson)
        Malouda-Silva(c)-N'Zogbia-Taarabt (Sinclair)
        RVP-Rodallega-Holt

*If Enrique goes to L'pool i will have 3 reliable def's and 2 chippies who will also play.
*Chealsea midfielder is a must imo with the starting fixtures, Silva is also a must for me, N'Zog since he is in A.Villa, Taarabt freekick and corner taker and Sinclair the same with also very positive starting fixutres both of them.
*RVP might be swapped with Rooney and Rodallega for 6.5 is great option especially with Wigans starting fix and no Nzog for pens. Holt for 5.5 is a must imo since he had 19 goals in championship.

        Thoughts of any improvement?

How overpriced are Midfielders this year...it's crazy, especially Man U (Nani, Young etc)!

Having a real problem trying to balance the team out properly...so what do you reckon I've got 0.5 in the bank...I'm a bit worried about no arsenal coverage or VDV to mention a few names:-

        Given
        Enrique Kompany Jagielka
        Sinclair Malouda Silva N'Zogbia
        Holt Rooney Suarez

        Subs
        Ruddy

good team, not sure about Sinclair - I think he is a bit overrated and be one of those players that everyone has at the start and just causes frustration with his 1-2 points.

I had Jags at the start of last season and he did pretty well but I'm always cautious about Evertons bad start...in saying that I hae Baines <_<

I would upgrade Dyer to somebody like Moses or downgrade O'Shea and swap Dyer for Barton

        a) Baines + 4m defender

        or

        b) Luiz + Raphael

I suppose the latter 2 aren't both 100% guaranteed to play. I have City (Kompany) and Liverpool (Skrtel) cover at the back though so I could equally replace those. But they seem more nailed on starters...

In the set pieces section it says that Holt takes penalties but Sinclair takes them for Swansea. I already have Sinclair in my team so I may plump for Holt.

        Options in midfield…
        A) Sinclair, O’hara, Barton
        B) Taarabt, O’Hara, Watson
        C) Taarabt, Barton, Watson

or can anyone see a better way of spending the cash?

How's this look? Planned GW2 transfer (assuming no injuries and Malouda starts GW1, is VDV -> Malouda)

        Given, Ruddy
Baines, Kompany, Orr, (Simpson), (N Taylor)
        Lampard, VDV, Taarabt, O'Hara, (Sinclair)
        RVP, Holt, Rodallega

Personally VDV doesn't have that good a fixture anyway + having 3 cheap defenders is a bit excessive

I don't see the problem with 3 cheap defenders, if you are going to spend the cash on Kompany and Baines - you pretty much have to play them every game and they are both capable of scoring good points even in away games.

Then you just have to rotate the last spot between 3 players depending on fixtures

If we assume Everton start as badly as they normally do, then it is a better fixture.

If you're making that transfer I'd downgrade Lamps and improve one of your strikers

Bit early for a 'final' draft, season starts 13 Aug. calm calm calm.
In saying , looking good, not sure about Richardson though and uncertainty about Drogs in Chelski line-up.

          Bardsley = rotation

          Richardson = rotation

Don't hink you need alcaraz if you have habsi

          Surely better options than Pedersen?

I would say Rooney and Yaya just because if Man City play like they did last year, Yaya will still be among the points
