Our first members article of the week delves into the data of the nine matches played out so far. A number of forwards come under assessment this evening, with Liverpool, United and West Ham’s new frontmen all analysed, whilst we also take a look at City’s resurgent Bosnian, Chelsea’s midfield and Swansea’s worrying lack of impact in the final third.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Not Eriksen. I think he'll come good at some point this season but he doesn't look like doing it right now.

    I gotta keep Balotelli, right?

I feel like he's picked up 2 jammy assists and been close to zero threat in the last couple of games. But those fixtures!?!

I dunno, mate. I'd be trying to offload him I think even though as you mention their fixtures are brightening. He simply hasn't returning points worth his price.

Really not backing Punch as a fantasy prospect in any capacity. As long as Jedi McArthur and Ledley are starting for us in midfield we don't have enough creativity to be free-flowing enough in the opponent's half to bring Punch back on the radar. He has looked pretty good on the ball and when we have been building up from the right but he hasn't been getting too many great goal scoring chances and neither have Palace been doing so from open play in general.

Since Puncheon returned in GW 3 Palace have scored 8 goals in 4 games and Puncheon has scored 22 FPL points (or 5.5 ppg).

He's on a lot of set pieces and the fixtures are terrible. Palace been playing well form were I sit.

All fair facts, but I don't think he is a good FPL option! More of a 5th mid at the moment than a 4th for me, as much as I love him.

          • 11 Years

I've come to the conclusion that I won't be investing in him. He's more expensive than downing but has worse stats, as well as immediate fixtures. His only really good fixture is Sunderland at home which is weeks away.

Surely not Ozil. If you're gonna offer Arsenal mid it's Cazorla.

Ozil is nailed even with Ramsey/Jack/Arteta/Walcott/Sanchez in, Cazorla is not. Caz could be a good short term punt though.

with ramsey and wilshere out he will have more room to control the midfield...last two games have shown an upturn in form...also ozil is nailed, santi isn't 🙂

        11 years, 4 months ago

Cheers. I've considered Gerrard, solid pick but I think Downings price just takes it for me. Two great fixtures coming up after which he can sit on my bench.

I'm not connived Silva has enough FPL end product, and Ozil is so unpredictably bad at times. From a 9.0 I don't want potential points, I want clockwork, like Fabregas or Sterling

On wildcard. Really want my Costa, Sturridge, Aguero frontline! Can do it and still have a decent side! The extra cash from choosing Dzeko over Aguero though could be a nice security blanket for getting in Walcott or whoever or if someone gets injured I don't know what to do.....

      You dont need all 3.

Ya thanks for the input. I can go Aguero Costa Pelle which is what I currently have until I hear more on Sturridge anyway. My leagues with my mates is kinda ending up with us all having similar players especially forwards.

It's too much. I prefer Sterling in my team over Sturridge and it saves you money. I know the "coverage" idea isn't great but Sterling has been super involved and I think he's the one to have.

You could go for it. There are quite decent mid price midfielders, and the expensive ones are not that good like last season (i.e. Yaya, Haz).

Asked earlier, but pages go by so quick post-game that very few people see:

    Which do you prefer?

1: Aguero with a defence of Clyne, Naylor and Bertrand (or another less than 5.3m defender) (means activating wildcard)

    or

2: Ulloa with a defence of Ivanovic, Baines and Clyne
    (for -4)

In both cases the other strikers would be Costa and Pelle.

        +1.0m ITB at the minute.

I'd be bringing Pelle in for Rooney and shipping Chester. Who I ship Chester to depends on where I go long term.

If I ship him to Moore, rather than Baines, then the following week I could ship Ivan to Bertrand and switch Ulloa to Aguero. I also need to switch JWP to Boyd either this week or next.

Or if I give up on the idea of bringing in Aguero I would switch Chester to Baines.

Basically, if I'm prepared to take a -8 the following week (or -8 this week and -4 next week) I could get to Aguero and Pelle, with the Bertrand replacing Ivan, but keeping the wildcard intact.

Team at the moment for GW7 (2 FTs, £1.0m ITB):

    Begovic(sun)
    N.Taylor(NEW) Moore(BUR) Moreno(WBA)
    Fabregas(ARS) DI Maria (EVE) Sterling(WBA) Sigurdsson(NEW)
    Pelle(tot) Balotelli(WBA) Costa(ARS)

subs - McCarthy, Clyne, C.Dawson, Zaha

What to do this week? Need to use at least 1 transfer so Zaha is the obvious candidate for the chop, probably to someone like Boyd to bank some cash. Or go balls out and get Aguero or summat?

Too much pride to pick Pelle? He's far and away the best choice (and that's not because I was saying it last week). So central to Saints' attack, on form, and great fixtures

I have the same issue, added to the Ramsey problem.
Dzeko & Sterling look like the answer.
Dzeko always seems to do well the Spurs (gw8).

or instead of welbeck go for dzeko since he is playing as fwd and they have avl next up and jovetic is not fit, after that gw you can choose welbeck again..

Yeah I should probably have mentioned my current players in those positions:p

        Hazard Ramsey Sterling Siggy (Marney)
        Rooney Costa Pelle

Downing might be a decent pick I suppose. Also considering Silva+Welbeck/Dzeko

At least throw an "I don't think" or an "IMO" in that statement instead of presenting it as fact as though you have a clue and it's anything more than your educated guess.

Are we off Burnley "D"efense now? With a visit to Leicester on the horizon, surely Ulloa will have a field day? Also they will face West Ham, Everton and then Arsenal. Is it safe to stop recommending Duff as an option finally?

    1. Walsh
      • 12 Years

I don't think so. Their defense was troubled because their midfield was incapable of stringing three passes together and ravaged by injury. The root of their problem today was their lack of quality at midfield. I wouldn't bring in at the moment if I didn't own, but I wouldn't be looking to sell if I owned either.

I don't see their midfield getting much better anytime soon. They lack quality all over the field. I wouldn't be bringing them in either, let alone playing them anytime in the foreseeable future....pretty much a roster spot free loader IMO.
