Our first members article of the week delves into the data of the nine matches played out so far. A number of forwards come under assessment this evening, with Liverpool, United and West Ham’s new frontmen all analysed, whilst we also take a look at City’s resurgent Bosnian, Chelsea’s midfield and Swansea’s worrying lack of impact in the final third.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Roo to Pelle/Ulloa/Dzeko?

    My Current team:
    Bego/gilks
Clyne Rojo Cahil / Moore Colo
Fab Sterling ADM Siggy / Wanyama
    Roo Costa Naismith

Only have 1FT and 0.5 itb, Roo is defo out that means no FT after, I want ot get rid of naismith, colo and siggy. Should I WC?

    Cheers guys

I agree with this, although playing worse than usual he`s still been in dangerous positions as is his nature

He actually did well to glide pass spurs defence and assist to chambo tho, sadly lloris was there to save. He wasnt all bad.

Get rid for now, specially with long term options like downing, no problem to buy him back later on as his price will probably drop

if he was performing i would hold. He hasn't been great for a few weeks though, despite putting up some decent stats. Don't want to be sitting with a turd losing its value for 3 weeks either. Shipped for Downing today.

Is it just me or has he been trying too hard this season?

Last season he kept things simple, simple passes, taking on shots when he had to.

This season, he tries all these stupid flicks and back heels, taking shots from wherever he can.

Last season's exploits has got to his head.

Always (c) costa. What makes u think Arsenal is so solid. They even struggled with spurs' cohbter attack, they were lucky spurs was lacking that final ball touch, if that wasnt the case, we wouldve been 2-3 nil up.

not too convinced with Burnley after that game yesterday. Maybe Mannone better but frankly GK tend to make not too much of a difference at the end of the day

This is my thinking. I have Duff at the moment and getting rid for Moore in the WC. Mannone is the only option I can see, but then lose Elliot as the back-up.

Usually follow this but from memory Walcott tends to fire straight off the bat. Plus using my WC I don't want to already have a transfer planned after using it.

Thoughts on who to bench this upcoming week? Wisdom and Marney definitely on bench, right now my back 3 is Bertrand, Naylor, Ivanovic, with PVA on the bench, but Naylor vs PVA seems very close. Suppose it might come down to the stoke vs newcastle game.

I did Ramsey>Downing 3 hours ago after considering Gerrard, Ozil, Puncheon, Henderson, Silva, Hazard, Di Maria, etc. He's the best value and also happens to have fantastic fixtures in his next two, after which I can either bench him or transfer him for Walcott or someone else. Ideal solution imo, even if it means i now have 6.8itb 😀

I think it'll be 3 or 4-0 for Chelsea. Spurs could have filled their boots with better finishing in the first half on Saturday. Arsenal are so suicidal pushing their fullbacks so far up without proper DM cover.

No Ramsey either, and possibly no Walcott. Welbeck has misfired in big situations thus far too, against City and Dortmund, so I don't think he'll score with the 1 or 2 big chances he might get.

      1. Trading Bear
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 4 months ago

Don't think Arsenal will push up their fullbacks like they did at home to Spurs. However, they'll lose the physical battles in midfield like they always do against the big teams.

        1. rickardinho
          • 11 Years
          11 years, 4 months ago

Thought Arsenal were fine in midfield against City. Wilshere had his best game and got stuck in really well, best I've seen him play in fact.

The gap behind the fullbacks was how Aguero scored though, and I'm sure Mourinho was taking notes.

Expect Hazard and Salah/Schurrle to be told to stay high up or at least to run into the channels a lot.

West Brom are solid defensively. CS's at Southampton and Spurs, along with at home to Burnley (not surprisingly), so I think it'll be a low-scoring game. Might change if Sturridge is back however. 2-0 would be my prediction.

did you watch the liverpool-spurs game? The two of them linked up really well. Sturridge running deep and Balotelli coming short is a great combo. The only thing that's missing right now is the running in behind but Sturridge will add that threat to give Balo more space.

Falcao likes to get involved too if you ask me. It depends on his manager's instructions most likely. RVP now and under Fergie drops much deeper than he did under Moyes when he was constantly isolated up top

Balotelli tracks back more than he's given credit for. Some of his tackles in the derby were awesome to watch. Nobody sees him coming and he just nips in from behind to steal the ball time and time again.

      DIsagree.

Defenders will have other runs to watch and check [take note Balotelli], giving Sterling more space. Sturridge will increase the tempo of play...only a good thing for Sterling.

He's not wrong because he clearly didn't say ONLY Sterling will benefit, so no need to be snide on a site where we all just share our opinions and you misread something.

              🙂

I didnt misread anything. Its pretty obvious from what he said that in no way will Sturridge returning benefit Balotelli, it will only be a good thing for Sterling. How can you not read it that way? And im really not salty over it, i just dont enjoy people passing their opinions on as facts. If its a site where people discuss and share opinions, then..

"Defenders will have other runs to watch and check [take note Balotelli], giving Sterling more space. Sturridge will increase the tempo of play...only a good thing for Sterling."

He literally said, "hey Balotelli, defenders will be less preoccupied with you as well, enjoy".

This is a site where people share their opinions. Unless someone also links a source, it's on you if you're reading it as fact.

Do we expect Walcott to hit the ground running? I have 2.7 itb with an eye on Siggy to either Ozil or Walcott for GW8, but not sure if it would be too early for Walcott.

apologies in advance, relatively new to this site.

with Roo and Ramsey in my team i'm looking at doing this with my WC team:
    current
    Forster (Myhill)
    Wisdom, Bertrand, Duff (Caulker, Moore)
    Siggy, ADM, Sterling, Rambo, Fabregas
    Costa, Rooney (Bojan)

    to
    Fabianski (Myhill)
    Chambers, Wisdon, Bertrand (Moore, Duff)
Siggy, Tadic, Sterling, Fabregas, ADM (maybe siggy on bench)
    Dzeko, Pelle, Costa
    and 1.2 ITB

    Any thoughts, improvements?

too much upfront Siggy to someone cheaper bench fodder and upgrade Duff with the remaining cash.

With that front eight, you're always going to have a dilemma over who to bench each week. Personally I would go with a strong front seven with your eighth as cheap bench fodder. Otherwise you're going to have at best a £6.6m player sitting on your bench it's week - and that's way to expensive.

I'm not convinced on Dzeko. Jovetic will be back soon and threaten his starting position. I'd be tempted to downgrade him for a cheap striker and go 3-5-2. That would allow you to upgrade your defence. Note that Chambers is one yellow card away from a suspension (four yellows already) and Wisdom is suspended for the next match as he's intelligible to play against his parent club Liverpool.

I think you can get a better GK than Fabianski - at better value too. Mannone, Foster, Guzan for example.

Have a play around with multiple combinations and keep an eye on the UCL this week for potential injuries.

Ive been trying to advice everyone this. Whats the point of having strong front 8? U gonna have good hauls on the bench for sure. Rotations etc are bullocks for forwards.

and a cheap fwd as bench fodder is more dangerous to have on the bench compared to someone like Boyd or Tiote so might as well go with 7 heavy MID/FWD in a 343 and a nailed-on cheapie MID as bench fodder
