Saido Berahino bags a brace as West Brom thrash Burnley 4-0 at The Hawthorns. Graham Dorrans serves up a goal and two assists as Sean Dyche’s side concede for the first time in four league matches, while The Clarets’ woes in front of goal show little sign of improvement.

Berahino the Budget Option
Yesterday’s brace brought Saido Berahino’s tally for the season to four goals, and rocketed the England Under-21 striker up to fourth in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) forwards standings. Despite this, and his meagre 5.5 price tag, Berahino still has under 5% ownership, making him a standout differential and a budget alternative to the likes of Leonardo Ulloa and Diafra Sakho. The injury struggles of team-mate Brown Ideye only increase Berahino’s potential, with the former now facing a tough task to reclaim the lone striker role for the Baggies, though upcoming fixtures against Liverpool and Man United should ensure that yesterday’s two-goal hero will have his work cut out in replicating his display in the next couple of Gameweeks at least.

Irvine’s Midfielders Finding Form
Whilst Chris Brunt earned an assist for the second match running in yesterday’s 4-0 drubbing, it was Graham Dorrans who stole the show by providing assists for both Berahino’s strikes before notching late on himself. Though these were the Scot’s first attacking points of the season, they have come at a time when the Baggies’ form is blossoming – it’s three straight wins in all competitions now for Alan Irvine’s men, and should they be able to maintain that form, the likes of Brunt, Dorrans and James Morrison could offer Fantasy managers plenty more returns over the upcoming weeks.

Baggies Backline Delivers Again
The presence of Joleon Lescott is clearly making the difference in the Baggies’ backline, with back-to-back clean sheets now accrued since the former Man City man made his debut. Owners of the 4.1-priced Andre Wisdom will also be happy with more returns from yesterday’s match, though they should be aware that the Liverpool loanee is ineligible to feature against his parent club next weekend. This will, however, hand Cristian Gamboa the chance to impress again after the Costa Rican earned an assist off the bench against Burnley. Four of West Brom’s next six home matches (CPL, NEW, WHM, AVL) look good shouts for further clean sheets, meaning that investment in one of FPL’s least popular rearguards now appears to be a canny move, with Wisdom, Lescott and Craig Dawson all offering their services for sub-5.0 price tags.

Burnley Continue to Toil
The Clarets’ run of three clean sheets came to an end yesterday, but Sean Dyche’s men still failed to offer a response at the opposite end of the pitch. Burnley have failed to score in five matches now and have netted just once this season as forward Lukas Jutkiewicz continues to toil in the absence of Danny Ings and Sam Vokes. Burnley now face Leicester, West Ham and Hull in next their five – fixtures which could still bring defensive returns, though, as we saw evidenced yesterday, their potential will continue to be diminished if they can’t break down opposition defences and end up leaving themselves open when chasing matches.

So psychologically scarring. I had to pick someone up from a rural train station during the game so I was following the text commentary. The nauseous, sinking feeling was horrendous, and my memory of sitting in that car-park while it happened is so vivid and painful.

Yeap great value no doubt. I'd pay the extra for the goal threat and nailed on-ness now with only 0.4 difference or even 0.8 as they will get goals over the season, just impossible to predict when.

Will Dawson keep his spot though? McAuley and Olsson are no mugs although getting on a bit. Lescott is certainly nailed.

Maybe not long term, Olsson in particular will probably come back in at some point. But back-to-back clean sheets surely means they are gonna start in the short term as a centre back partnership

So, United fans how do you think Rooney being out will affect the line up over the next three?

Personally I'd like to see either Mata come in (think he's the best number 10 in the squad)

    OR

Considering the defensive frailties could ADM move up into the 'hole' and almost get a free role allowing for Fletcher to come into the midfield three to help secure things?

Vardy. Looked VERY sharp at home to Man U, and Burnley showing weakness at back away from home. Could be a rout.

Stats favour Aguero by miles, even when you take Vardy's massive 4 assist, 20+ point week and compare to Aguero, Aguero still has better stats. Gotta be due a haul...

          • 15 Years

It's the hit though. Wait a week? Aguero will likely only rise maybe 0.1...

Don't think Aguero will rise at all, he's so expensive that most people don't have the cash to get him, he's way down the list on NTI's this week.

Indeed. So maybe get him for the next home game when there's not been midweek CL? Spurs at home has goalfest written all over it.

Getting Tadic and Silva over the next 2 weeks for Ramsey and Eriksen.. Was all set on swapping Silva in for Ramsey tonite(before the drop) but then realised he has UCL and internationals and is generally made of glass! makes sense to get Tadic in first and then reassess Silva after the internationals over? could probably opt for Fabs instead of Silva next week too(Cant afford Fabs this week)

I've had to re-calibrate myself over Silva. I'm not particularly prone to over-rating players based on their real-world performances but I love that guy so much more than his FPL returns actually justify 🙂

I might still get him if he and Aguero build up a head of steam together but it can wait for a little while.

i'm Sticking with Vardy... he looked Leicester's main threat at the weekend(although tehy were admittedly poor).. gonna be in my team for a while as my cheap benchable 8th attacker. though if u have a cheap 8th attacker then obviously Aguero is a better bet than Vardy!

That is currently my Forward lineup.

I've always aimed for the top-priced, top-team strikers but im uncertain about Aguero (mins and injuries), Falcao (minutes), RVP (too much), STurridge (injury and pricey) but feel Pelle and Weltekkers are good value for certain starters and in decent teams.

Already used my FT on Downing this week but I'm looking at my defence and I can't see myself getting many pts in GW7

    Begovic
Azpil - Naylor - Pieters (PvA & Clyne)

-4 it and take Pieters/Azpil out? If so, who for?

Maybe in the 2nd half of the season where you actually need your 5th midfielder...for now I'll bank the 0.6 with Boyd.

Not a bad shout. Hard to predict when he'll score them though and he'd probably be benched most games for you anyways

    Any advices?

    Forster -Guzan
    Baines-Trippier-Taylor-Lovren-Colloccini
    Sigurdson-Jedinak-Sterling-Fabregas-Ramsey
    Costa-Pelle-Wellbeck

Already made two transfers, getting Costa and Jedinak for Hazzard and Ulloua. Do I need to play the WC to get things back in shape? And if not, who should I seek to offload in the weeks to come?

Who takes the corners for West Brom?

Saw that West Brom have scored the most goals from corners so far this season.

Someone posted a theory (based on others with high ownership and injuries) that he will need around 250K transfers out to drop, and he's currently on about 125K.

250k or 8% of ownership is what Djerbil observed.

He could be the hero we Rooney-owners need, but don't deserve.

Definitely has the fixtures but still prefer Aguero myself, keeps ticking along and also has pens in his locker.

      Also this...

Man City have scored at least 2 goals in 12 of their last 14 matches in the Premier League.

Fixtures tilt it firmly in Sturridge's favour imo. He's the definition of flat track bully (Hazard aside).

I've had my fair share of Aguero nightmares...pretty sure I spent at least 4 transfers on him last season.

Yeap I agree Studge will do well but at the moment seems a bit over-priced considering his team haven't found form yet, are struggling with 3 games a week, he's still not back to full fitness and his strike partner isn't very good.

Yeah, same. Hopefully Rooney holds his price for a few days so I can get Naylor and Sturridge in for Caulker and Rooney

You can easily sit back and get Studge + some other cheapy given the options galore this season. As Roscola posted above, Swansea's underlying stats could easily mean they're not as tight as their results thus far suggest.

Probably. But they kinda lost their way when Sturridge got injured. Coincidence? maybe. No strong preference...just another option to monitor.

Personally hoping Sturridge drops 0.1 or 0.2 while Ulloa keeps rising. I need the gap to close by 0.3 by gw9 to make that swap 🙂
