Saido Berahino bags a brace as West Brom thrash Burnley 4-0 at The Hawthorns. Graham Dorrans serves up a goal and two assists as Sean Dyche’s side concede for the first time in four league matches, while The Clarets’ woes in front of goal show little sign of improvement.

Berahino the Budget Option
Yesterday’s brace brought Saido Berahino’s tally for the season to four goals, and rocketed the England Under-21 striker up to fourth in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) forwards standings. Despite this, and his meagre 5.5 price tag, Berahino still has under 5% ownership, making him a standout differential and a budget alternative to the likes of Leonardo Ulloa and Diafra Sakho. The injury struggles of team-mate Brown Ideye only increase Berahino’s potential, with the former now facing a tough task to reclaim the lone striker role for the Baggies, though upcoming fixtures against Liverpool and Man United should ensure that yesterday’s two-goal hero will have his work cut out in replicating his display in the next couple of Gameweeks at least.

Irvine’s Midfielders Finding Form
Whilst Chris Brunt earned an assist for the second match running in yesterday’s 4-0 drubbing, it was Graham Dorrans who stole the show by providing assists for both Berahino’s strikes before notching late on himself. Though these were the Scot’s first attacking points of the season, they have come at a time when the Baggies’ form is blossoming – it’s three straight wins in all competitions now for Alan Irvine’s men, and should they be able to maintain that form, the likes of Brunt, Dorrans and James Morrison could offer Fantasy managers plenty more returns over the upcoming weeks.

Baggies Backline Delivers Again
The presence of Joleon Lescott is clearly making the difference in the Baggies’ backline, with back-to-back clean sheets now accrued since the former Man City man made his debut. Owners of the 4.1-priced Andre Wisdom will also be happy with more returns from yesterday’s match, though they should be aware that the Liverpool loanee is ineligible to feature against his parent club next weekend. This will, however, hand Cristian Gamboa the chance to impress again after the Costa Rican earned an assist off the bench against Burnley. Four of West Brom’s next six home matches (CPL, NEW, WHM, AVL) look good shouts for further clean sheets, meaning that investment in one of FPL’s least popular rearguards now appears to be a canny move, with Wisdom, Lescott and Craig Dawson all offering their services for sub-5.0 price tags.

Burnley Continue to Toil
The Clarets’ run of three clean sheets came to an end yesterday, but Sean Dyche’s men still failed to offer a response at the opposite end of the pitch. Burnley have failed to score in five matches now and have netted just once this season as forward Lukas Jutkiewicz continues to toil in the absence of Danny Ings and Sam Vokes. Burnley now face Leicester, West Ham and Hull in next their five – fixtures which could still bring defensive returns, though, as we saw evidenced yesterday, their potential will continue to be diminished if they can’t break down opposition defences and end up leaving themselves open when chasing matches.

Only one nailed on City striker, Aguero, as Jovetic is back to share game time With Dzeko.

Yeah, I think that's a decent shout. hit post a few times. Playing in creative fwd position with very fast players around him. Traditionally not great in FPL, but this season is showing up some of our prejudices...

Seriously considering RVP instead of Kun. With Rooney out he may be captain and can see him sparkling with no ECL football which should limit Kuns gametime especially with Jovetic now back. I still think Kun starts most EPL football as they chase Chelsea but I just have a gut feeling that RVP could be the man. Great differential too and easy to swap if it goes wrong. Nice fixture this week at home to an Everton side who will be making their way back from Russia opposed to City going to Villa Park after their European fixture. I'm not keen on Falcao as without looking at their position maps on here it's easy to see RVP is the man leading the line up top. Food for thought definitely.

Anyone else with 5 yellow/red flags? Rooney, Ramsey, Wisdom, Krul, Marney here...

However, only really looking to lose Rooney so think I can absorb the others for a week... also hink I'll suffer the inevitable Ramsey drop since I want him GW8 onwards...

Has anyone WCed in this situation?

Yeah I know, still a red flag though... but I'm happy to absorb that for a week, just means I won't have a bench next week...

Would you just FT out Rooney, or would you take the hit to get rid of Ramsey?

Chadli and aguero. Bit of a knee jerk, had limited time to look at it and thought both were dropping on sunday for some reason. Im happy with the choices but moving early on slight injury doubts not advisable. May have to wc anyway 🙂

Chadli will always have a rotation threat hanging over him and surely cant keep this up, he just Isnt that good

I know planning ahead is sometimes frowned upon but its working for me so far. I'm saving my FT this week and will surely use 2 in the international break. Tadic and Welbeck are the ones I'll probably be getting, I was holding until GW8 to get Welbeck anyway. The problem will be who to get rid of. If Balotelli continues in the same vein it will be a very easy decision, but with qpr and HUL in 8 & 9 it's risky. If Siggy is similar then obviously him.
GW 11 and I'll finally get a City player, Aguero if still fit, here's hoping he hasn't exploded by then.
I'm happy with my little plan, it's a bit risky but it's fun.

Boo. With so many taking a hit this week sometimes to move forward you just have to stand still.
With an international break next week, the extra FT should come in quite handy. Mark my words. Or don't.

Uniteds offense will be spread around though. And if the west ham game is an indication teams are going to be targeting adm more and more. Stop him and you stop Uniteds attack for the most part.

I went for downing instead. Much cheaper, more attacking, on more set pieces (for a team at no.1 in attempts on goal from corners), better immediate fixtures, and benchable. Not I mention he has two on-form strikers to pass to and has so far scored more points than adm. Only Gerrard has more bps points than him in midfield as well.

Hasn't produced big points yet, but his underlying stats are great. I was planning on doubling up on him and Pelle after this GW. Ramsey injury has moved that forward a week, I reckon he will get a haul soon though.

I've watched Saints and he has been unlucky, could have had 3 goals by now and a couple more (penos not given). soon his stats will turn to goals and he's a good price.

Very hard to say. All the love at the moment is speculative, about his potential and based on 'facts' - his attacking stats, which are very good.

Most players who shoot and create chances with the regularity that he has been, go on to record good FPL scores. Especially ones who are on penalty and set-piece duties. Not all though, and it is to some degree guesswork as to whether he's in the majority who go on to deliver on those stats or the minority who fail despite them.

If all that is too much sitting on the fence for your liking then I'll add that I'm punting, which is usually the kiss of death.

          And Townshend.

Both of those guys failed the eye test though. It was easy to see why they weren't delivering on their stats - they were shooting poorly from bad positions, again and again. They look like poor players with too much confidence. Tadic so far has passed that test for most people.

Easy to make a case that Aguero is over-priced considering his returns so far and the others who are delivering similar points for less money.

Not sure why you'd drop Ulloa at this point though. How much more value are you looking for?

      1. Efan Ekoku Pops

I'd give Ulloa another few weeks, but eventually I can't realistically upgrade him without ditching Aguero.

I don't think that he isn't fit. Wenger is taking advantage of Alexis being used to be on the bench. In the end I believe Alexis will be Arsenal top scorer (goals wise). It's just a question of when he starts getting enough game time to do it.

He's a brilliant player with huge FPL potential and I really want to own him but only if he's actually playing.

I could explain away the first benching (would have been his third game in seven days). But I can't explain the latest one and I'm too spooked. Need to see some regular gametime now.
