When Fantasy Premier League (FPL) opened its doors a couple of weeks ago, we weren’t far behind. Fantasy Football Scout got the ball rolling on our Head to Head leagues for the 2011/12 season by creating another two more and asked you all to stick your names in the hat for entry.

You kindly responded in your droves and after many man hours of wading through the entries, and a glamorous draw which took place on Saturday morning, we have had over 60 new leagues places to hand out to the lucky few recipients of our draw. The results (click to enlarge) and final figures on the nine Head to Head leagues (new entries highlighted) are as follows…

As you can see from the graphic above, there was at least one extra place in all of our leagues – be it from people dropping out or not claiming their spot in time. Firstly, if you see your name highlighted in that peach melba colour then you should have already received an email response to that which you entered with your respective league codes – if not, then whizz me over an email and I’ll sort things out for you.

Impressive Tackle and Back on the horse are the healthiest recipients who have jumped all the way up to FFS H2H 1 thanks to having the superior ranking of all our draw winners – Impressive Tackle finished a mind-bending 14th in the world last year.

Gooner Dave wasn’t far behind so takes up the single space left in FFS H2H 2. Four new managers get to take on Fantasy Football Scout head honcho Mark in FFS H2H 3 – Have they got what it takes to beat “The Scout”? I’m sure they’ll relish the challenge.

LawnDart jumps right into FFS H2H 4 on his own while FFS H2H 5 sees three new managers get to compete with Fantasy Football Scout super scribe Sir Paulos, podcast jockey Granville and differential destroyer (and my main rival) Big Dunc – without doubt the most Scout heavy Head to Head league.

Our Stateside Scout Da Beeeez is joined by three new faces in FFS H2H 6 with guiness416, Heisenberg and pompeyfan getting a jump up into our league structure.

FFS H2H 7 was our bottom league last season so sees a fair few new faces join its ranks thanks to a whole load of relegations – our comment-board regulars will perhaps recognise the likes of Johnny Unitas, Horizontal and RaspingDrive in amongst the qualifiers.

Scout business brain El Fozzie is heading up FFS H2H 8 (the first of two new leagues which has nineteen new faces) – Greeny was the best ranked manager of this bunch at a very respectable 17,284th place last season.

Certainly, 17,284th is more than I could have ever hoped for, which perhaps explains why I am heading up FFS H2H 9 – or what I am now dubbing “The Underachievers”. You will notice plenty of recognisable faces from long time caller Pasqualinho to King Nil Miss with a certain Westfield Irons inbetween. The Irons are the team managed by none other than Jon Reeson, winner of the whole 2009/10 FPL campaign and Marks’ Radio companion. Last season saw Jon struggle to keep up appearances following his banner year but is back ahead of the 2011/12 season and will undoubtedly have 19 Head to Head rivals eager for the victory scalp of an ex-FPL champion.

For those of you needing a reminder of how our promotion/relegation works then have a gander at the following graphic and work out just where you need to finish to survive and/or prosper.

This, of course, indicates that we know we need to cater for many more than just the 180 managers in our Head to Head leagues above. So without further ado we also christen the opening of the Fantasy Football Scout Reserve League (code: 759-148560).

If you were unfortunate enough to not have your name pulled out of the hat in the draw/got relegated/left it too late to claim your place then the Reserve League is open to anyone wanting to enter. Your league code (759-148560) should allow you the chance for 38 Fantasy Football Scout endorsed Head to Head fixtures and the shot at promotion into the aforementioned structure – just make sure your team finishes in the top 45 places and then keep your eyes peeled the following summer if you do.

Stick around for sporadic League updates through the season whenever we can squeeze them in, I’ll hopefully have a short graphic based one up in the early September international break and our first comprehensive movers and shakers report in the following October break.

Congratulations to our 60+ draw winners. Get joining our Reserve League if you’re not in on the action. I’m going for a stiff Ribena, am glad all that work is almost over until next summer. Good luck. Except to those in League Nine- I need all the help I can get in that one.

Hernandez picked by 17.7% of teams. Clearly demonstrating that almost 20% of FF managers must also be suffering from some kind of head injury

That percentage goes up to over 50% during the season, even more galling is that some of these clowns will fluke week in, week out.

That being said, the Hernandez news is hot enough off the presses, he has only in the last few days been confirmed out until the end of August, and not everyone is as addicted as most of us on here!

I think so, what with his defensive aerial abilities and all, Torres will play, he might start with Drogba, he might come on later in the game, but Drogba is most likely to start.

Martinez has been talking the lad up and saying he has a big role to play this season. He'll certainly play and Wigans opening fixtures are kind so is worth a punt at 5.0. he's a starter for me GW1

Hi everyone, i'm new to the site. I know everyone gets bored of rate my teams but here goes anyway.
    Given (ruddy)
    Luiz, Kompany, Baines, (simpson, Wilkinson)
    Silva, N'Zogbia, Ramsey, Walters (ferguson)
    Rooney, Van Persie, Graham,

Cheers, just not sure if weak midfield is compensated for by strong attack and defense.

Hey there, and Welcome to the site 😀
You've got a good pair of goalkeepers, who rotate well for the start of the season. If Norwich don't keep many cleanies, as expected, you can wildcard Ruddy out, by which time their fixtures won't compliment Given and Aston Villa anyway.

You've gone for 3 big defenders, which is obviously cutting some funds from your pocket, to strengthen your midfield. Added to that, Luiz is a rotation risk imo. I'd downgrade him to a 5m defender that will play. Keep Kompany. If you're sure about Luiz, then keep him to and Downgrade Baines.

Good alternatives include a Fulham defender i.e. Hughes or Baird to compliment Fulham's good opening fixtures. Wilkinson may not be nailed on to start so watch out for that one.

Good punts in midfield, including Walters, who may be playing in a more forward role. I'd use your leftover money to upgrade Feguson, because he'll hardly play and you will need points from your bench. If your comfortable with Silva as your big hitter from midfield, then i'd keep him. Maybe upgrade him to Malouda or even VDV once their fixtures ease.

Your strikeforce is fine, however, and should do well. Maybe Trade one of RVP, or Rooney to a big striker with more favourable fixtures. Aguero or Bent for example.

      Hope this helps somewhat

Trying to learn something from the advices here (and the scouts articles were also helping alot) and spoil the team as least as poss. I would like to hear from you if it is a totally sh*te or worths starting (maybe what to change) ... team goes like this:

    Given Rudy

    Kompany Hangeland Distin Brown Simps

    Malouda Silva NZogbia Sinclair Moses

    RVP Ba Odem

No ManU cover but Smalling can anytimne enter or Rooney shortly for RVP ... waht do you chaps think?

Pretty standard team for a RMT on here, I would stay away from Odemwingie for the first couple of weeks, awful fixtures.

I am holding off RVP for the first 3 weeks and then maybe doing Rooney OUT RVP IN at that point, but, he is RVP, and can generally score against anyone.

Defence is good and midfield is very solid.

Thanks Johny I used to find your opinions here very useful thats why I am glad for some words from you. I also see the strikers as a weakest point. So what are the best combo of 3 strikers for a limit of 26mil in total... anyone any thoughts?

Well, the best combo will vary from person to person, at the moment, I have Rooney/Zamora and Rodallega, with 3m in the bank so that I have room to upgrade at striker. Zamora and Rodallega are pretty safe bets with form and fixtures, but I would imagine RVP/Suarez/Zamora would be the one of the most popular combos.

A lot of mid priced midfields going about. Feels a bit wiered compared to seasons gone by.

But yeah, it is different, obviously the lack of nailed on starters in the expensive midfielders is taking it's toll, plus the tightness in the budget this year.

Don’t know if I have enough quality on the bench. Ferguson won’t play for sure, the two defenders will. I know Nani is a rotation risk but I think he will play the first game of the season (if he’s still there). If not Nani I was thinking Young or Malouda.

    Please RMT

    Given Ruddy

Cole Kompany W.Brown Simpson Gabbidon
    VDV Moses Nani O’Hara Ferguson

Rooney Aguero Zamora

    Thanks

What do people think of this general plan?? With the players filling each role obviously varying throughout the season.

    2 Cheapish rotating GK's

Attacking FB / Reliable CS Def / 3 Cheap attacking defs to rotate

Big star / 1 mid price / 3 Reasonably priced

    2 big stars / Bargain

Each week 2 Defs and either one of the reasonably priced mids or the bargain striker will be benched dependent on fixtures/form

I like that plan to begin with, you can probably guess some of the players i'm referring to, but i'm not giving away my masterpiece too easily 😛

Fair enough. Not too sure whether the defender's playing styles really matter, it's all about the price and their points returns.

Seems like you would change your plan by the end of GW1 to me. No need to be so specific either, so later on you may wish to change your Attacking FB to Vidic or Vermaalen. Would this be allowed? Also I have a theory and some evidence I am unwilling to share that rotating defenders is not as good as just picking 3 top four defenders.

I know full well it will change, hence i said "to begin with". That's just my general plan, seeing as whatever team i come up with, and i'm happy with, seems to fit that criteria.

Also, about the defenders, i think what you're on about may be true that they'll score more points, but it also means you have less to spend on midfielders and strikers, who are more important than defenders imo.

Scoring points is important not where they come from. Obv you need big midfielders or strikers to be captain options but a 6-7m defender could easily score more points than a 7-8m midfielder.

this is similar to my strategy, but consider the Ferguson option.

You have 8 mids/forward, but only 7 of this set of players can ever play, and since they are generally higher scoring than defenders you will play 7.

Due to injuries and surpirse selections you will often need your 1st sub, and from time to time your 2nd too.
But how often will you ever seriously find yourselcf reaching to the back shelf to dust down and take out your 15th man?

      Answer? Almost never.

And if Barton's leaving his time on the pitch increases 🙂

So a certain amount of your cash will HAVE to sit on the bench, why not make that the smallest amount possible?

Hey people, new to this site and sure it's getting boring with all the RMT's but would really appreciate any views/thoughts on my team so far:

    Given (De Vries)

Kompany - Luiz - Hughes - Rafael (Simpson)

Lampard - De Jong - Kuyt - Taarabt (Ferguson)

    Suarez - Rooney (Best)

I've gone over this team quite a bit to get to this point so any comments welcome, Cheers.

De Jong is a defensive midfielder. He may play great for Man City, but this might not always translate into FPL points.

imo its a mistake picking shane ferguson. he will not play ... a couple of injuries / players not playing etc.. and you could forced into an early wildcard/multiple transfers

Cheers for the tips lads, will bear it in mind.

Yeah i see what you mean about De Jong, consistent yes, but unfortunately consistent with the lower region of points scored, will change him i think.

I also see the problem with ferguson, think i only chose him to have quite a strong midfield, could always boot Lampard and opt for someone like Malouda or Ashley Young. All boils down to who will play and seeing who gets the starts nearer to gameweek 1 i guess.

robbie keane if he gets a good transfer.
would pick him over graham or any championship striker, becaues you never know how they will perform in the premiership.
EBanks Blake was top scorer in the championship for 2 consecutive years, cgot promoted and scored 2goals all season i think

    A) Malouda, Silva, Carroll/Suarez

    OR

    B) Lampard, Downing, Suarez

    OR

    C) Malouda, Downing, Augero

    Which is the best option?

I really don't see Downing putting up numbers like he did in previous seasons, that being said I would go A. Having Carroll the first few weeks, and then swapping in Suarez when he is back from rest, unless Carroll is on fire.
