The eagle-eyed amongst you may have spotted that our Injuries and Bans page has undergone some changes today.

Although these changes were assigned for the new site design, we’ve decided to roll out the new table prior to the redesign going live. We’re still working on optimisation on the new look, in the meantime, we wanted to switch and upgrade your injuries and bans “experience”.

The main difference from the user perspective is that we’ve added a percentage to the “Doubt†status. This percentage represents our estimate on the chance of the player being available for selection on the return date specified – so a player marked as a “Doubt 75†has, in our opinion, a stronger chance of making a return on the specified date than a player marked “Doubt 25â€.

The big difference from an admin perspective is that the table is now fully data driven from our player database. This not only makes it far quicker and efficient to update, it also means we can develop new features with the injuries and bans data. A sidebar widget listing the ten latest status changes will be on its way for Members soon and we will also look to develop injury histories for all players, accessible via the player profiles in the members area.

We’ve got some catching up to do on our data but, by the morning, your injuries and bans table should be fully up to date and operational ready for the new season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

A United XI playing Marseille tonight in a charity match in Monaco. The likes of Cleverley, Evra, Pogba, Smalling, Jones, Park and Welbeck are to be joined by Barthez and Ginola, with Trezeguet and Giuly expected to make an appearance as well.

    Should be good enough.

Not sure I'd risk someone who's not even guaranteed to start and hasn't played in the prem before. Not for 9m anyway

I'm not saying he will flop. I think he's a really good player. But for 9m I'd want a sure starter and preferably a player who's proven in the prem before.

This is my point, they are completely different players. Gervinho is twice the player Chamakh is and there are no similarities between them to even compare.

Gervinho has pace, he is direct, gets in the box, assists, if you watch the player you will see that he is good enough for the PL, he also plays in an attacking team so will get plenty of chances.

Sometimes you just got to use your eyes.

From what I saw of him in France he looks a good player. Can beat a man and is good at making off the ball runs, his passing is the only flaw in his game imo but that can be improved on.

    My final team

    Given / Ruddy
    Cashley / Baines / Kompany / Enrique/ Olsson
    N'Zog / Marveaux / Downing / Silva / Sessengon
    Suarez / Odemwingie / Holt

    Thoughts?
Will rarely rotate defence and when I do Enrique should be a great sub. Olsson not too bad.

    Midfield strong all round.

    Strike force too weak???

I for one am not sure on Odemwingie, his price seems a bit high. I think you have too much money in defence...maybe downgrade Cashley to Ivanovic or Luiz?

I've seen a lot of people with Baines in their team on here, but Everton always start badly and their defence could suffer if they lose Jagielka.

Just taken from the last Scout article:
"Foster’s new club West Brom chalked up a mere 2 clean sheets last term and his presence between the sticks will boost that tally, without question"

I would like to question this! Apparently i'm alone in thinking how crap he is.

He's at a defensively poor team... and I don't think save points alone will justify his inclusion in my team, I know West Brom will be better with him in goals but I can't see him being better value than Given.

At the end of the day, Foster scored better than the majority of keepers you just mentioned last season, so you are entitled to your opinion, but the scores speak for itself... To add to the more reason to get him, Birmingham got relegated but yet he still scored well

I'm sorry.. you're insisting he's one of the best but in the same breath stating that was ever present in a relegated team? Hmm

To cite a points tally on Fantasy Football in order to point out how good a player is in the real world is just plain ridiculous. By that flawed logic then he's the 3rd best goalkeeper in the prem, Charlie Adam is second only to Nani, Matt JArvis is better than Luka Modric and Odemwinge is the superior forward to Rooney. See where i'm going with this brah? 😀

Foster's a shot-stopper. At United, he was sh!te at crosses and distributing (imo), but did a good job with blocking shots.

Hodgson's organization of the defense should/might help with the incoming crosses and such - Foster's ability will help with the shots coming through. Seems to me the combination will benefit Brom.

And although you might rate a dozen others above him, Brom finished 11th last year. Sounds about right, then.

he's a decent player and qpr's main man so i understand his selection...

However at 6.5 i want to wait and see how he does. At 5.5 I would've definitely had him in my team but i think the likes of o'hara offer more

I'm troubled by the AVB clear out that is ensuing. The Zhirkov move I get but Bosingwa could also be off - he fits AVB's system but just seems vulnerable. I want him to play but I can't see it happening.

As much as I keep hearing that AVBs system is all about attacking surely he's smart enough to realise that Ivanovic is a much better defender than Bosingwa.

He can still get up and down the line, albeit maybe not quite as well as Bosingwa, but still gives much better defensive returns and attacking potential on corners etc

Aye it makes more sense to play Ivanovic and I can even see Side Show Bob doing a turn on the wing if needs be - all this points to Bosingwa's exit. I think he'd rather sign the player he wants for that position despite the player audit he's run this pre-season. Benyoun out or on loan as well

Dont forget though... Ivan has been a 'make shift' RB for 2 years, due to Bos inj plagues season(s).

Rewind the clock back to his first season...

Brazil vs Germany & Spain vs Argentina will be the two semi finals, Spain vs Bazil will be the final, Brazil will win 3-2 thanks to a mistake by Pique that allows Neymar through on goal, he'll be disposessed by De Gea but Ramos running back will accidently knock the ball back to Neymar who will finish, almost missing but it will be post and in, due to his celebration he will get his second yellow of the game and be sent of, it wont matter though as it was essentialy the last kick of the game. Fifa are corrupt, they've got it all planned...

    Right...
Why do people say not to spend money in defence. Can someone explain?
Based on last years scores and this years prices you would have to pay much more to get the same points in midfield as for players such as Baines and Cole in defence.
Surely it makes economical sense to do spend big on certain defensive players and to surround them with good mid pricers? i.e. 2/3 quality players and 3/2 mid pricers???

This leaves me with the question of Midfield vs attack. Not seeing many good options in either price wise. Especially up front. Currently only have Carroll / Suarez as what you would call a big points earner and Carroll isnt guaranteed.

as the season progresses some bargains will emerge and the biggest bargains will be attacking players who score way above expectancy.

This is what people remember and that's why people have cheap defences.

you're right though, until we know who these bargains are, the defenders are safer options.

People are picking their teams to try and predict who the over performers will be, but it is reasonable to start off with 'safe' options too, and many of these are defenders.

I think you're right - I've been banging the drum for defenders being the best value this season. Over recent years the trend has been for midfielders being the better value and I guess it's difficult to get out of this mindset.

I've tried to hedge my bets. Got Company and hughes and Jagielka as nailed on, and are usually consistent performers, with rafael as a gamble and orr as backup.

I've avoided paying big bucks for defenders, but have also been safe(ish) with my selections.

Not going for a big defence has really opened up a lot of attacking options, without sacrificing too much.

Lack of cole/ivanovic may come back to haunt me though.

I only have ivanovic atm. Just worried about weather Drogba will start. Think Malouda is overpriced

Until I see how they are lining up I have just gone with Malouda. I'm positive they will get off to a flyer, but not positive on who will be starting where and what there returns will be.

RMT and help me please.. 🙂

Given (Ruddy) * not supposed to rotate
Ivanovic/Luiz, Kompany, Rafael, Baines, Samba (Simpson)
    Young, Silva, Downing, Taarabt/Sessegnon (Tiote)
    Hernandez, Rodallega (Beattie)

Can't decide between Ivanovic or Luiz, Ivano is definite starter, dont know bout Luiz. One more is Young and Nani, not certain of any of them, maybe VDV.. The last one is between Taarabt and Sessegnon, Sessegnon is definite for me, but not sure if he is in starting XI.

    THANKS!

Ivanovic at the start for me. Maybe downgrade to Luiz if he plays every GW.
Sesegnon, and Ephraim instead of Taarabt/Tiote?

Its a good side, Im fairly sure Luiz will start, he was very impressive toward the end of last season. Ivanovic is Mr. Inconsistant. Samba is questionnable, Blackburn are terrible, will rarely keep a clean sheet.
      Go for Sessegnon.
Your back up forward isnt going to start.

Clearly you're just making things up now, Ivanovic, Mr. Inconsistent? Don't say things unless you know what you're talking about. And Luiz is unlikely to start the first few games.

Making up things? Ivanovic will never have a solid run of games in that Chelsea side, so much risk for rotation, hence Mr. Inconsistant, if you want to risk having him than by all means, but id personally like someone who will start every week. Also he gets alot of yellow cards, just not needed point loss. Luiz will start I shall be very surprised if he doesnt. Do you have anything to back up your thoughts to why he wont start?

hmm, i agree with everything u said, but Samba will get all the bonus points that blackburn will get, because of the new system, he doesnt really have any hard competition, but was thinking to get gibbs instead anyway =)

        what about the young/nani/VDV problem?

        Regards!

Ive gone with Young, because I think he will be on set pieces and Ferguson just stated today that he will be starting on the left in the new season.
I think Nani will start also, but who knows, more risky than young IMO.
VDV will be good for GW1 but than Spurs run into a messy few rounds so I dont think it would be worth it. Plus coming off a slight injury so who knows how he will go

Hernandez is out, wigan suck, so you're in dire need of at least 1 striker...And Beattie ain't it.

Ivanovic and Nani would be my advice to you. However, you spent way too much on defense in my opinion (except on Baines)

      8/10

Dont understand what the attraction of downing is, id much rather Kuyt for the extra 1.5 brings alot to the table

You sure Ivanovic is a definite starter? I'm not saying he's not, just curious to hear what people have to say about that.

i reckon he'll start about 65-70% of games. i reckon bosingwa will play homes against mid & low table opposition. ivanovic may cover some games as CB also, bit not there is Luiz-Terry-Alex also. plus he picked up a knock against villa.
