Our next Members article looking at the idea of “value” sees Forwards come under the microscope. With a fresh revision of players last weekend in light of factors such as transfers and pre-season tactics, we’ve tweaked the Projected totals to give you an up-to-date reflection on our thinking. While many of our top ten value forwards are lower-priced options that perhaps may be more suited to rotation, the kind opening prices afforded to the likes of Luis Suarez and Peter Odemwingie propels a couple of FPL big-hitters firmly into our thoughts.
Evening people, looking at the pre season guide and struggling to see who are the more probable 4.0m defenders for Swa and qpr, can anyone help?
Good article as always by the way! I do feel holts projection could be a bit optimistic though.Open ControlsSo Benayoun is apparently playing well pre-season.
Who's position has he taken/filled in for? Whereabouts in the midfield has he been playing?Open Controlsin the hole i believe
Open Controls4-3-3 formation with Benayoun playing effectively as an advanced midfielder, Lamps has played a bit deeper and allowed Benayoun to be the main playmaker, the other midfielder has played a more defensive role but no players have been restricted from going forward. I am confident that he'll get a lot of gametime if we dont sign anyone; Modric, Kaka etc, although the Modric deal looks increasingly likely.

N Zogbia and Carrol OR Downing and Bent ?
Open ControlsRMT please!
Given (foster)
Kompany Hughes A.Cole (Orr)(O'shea)
Moses O'hara N'zogbia Silva (ferguson)
Gervinho Suarez Rooney
I am thinking of swapping O'hara out for Barton if he lands somewhere decent.Open ControlsVery similar to mine. See below. Like your strikeforce
Open Controls
For anyone who wants to RMT here go's
Given.Ruddy
Kompany.Hughes.A-Cole.Shawcross.Simpson
Silva.Nzog.O'hara.Bale.Moses
RVP.Bent.HoltOpen ControlsHmm...no Chelsea cover??? I have same defence and forwards but I have Malouda-Downind-Taarabt-Sessegnon-Moses in the midle. (and Huges instead Shawcross)
Open Controls
RMT PLEASE, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE, CHEERS.
GIVEN,(RUDDY)
COLE, KOMPANY, SAMBA, (SIMPSON, ORR)
NZOGBIA, TAARABT, YAYA, LAMPARD, (DYER)
ZAMORA, ROONEY, RODALLEGAOpen ControlsAbsolute newcomer to FF here (blush) Any thoughts on:
Given (Al-Habsi)
Rafael A.Hughes Hangeland Cole Kompany
Yaya Wilshere Nani Bale (Tiote)
Suarez (Holt) (Odemwingie)Open Controlswill Rafael and Nani be nailed on starters? am not so sure
Open Controlsgiven and al habsi combo is too common for my liking, rafael place at right back is iffy, wilshere doesnt score the points, nani could lose out to valencia, tiote is a risk due to position and bookings, plus newcastle look set for a poor season, holt, i would be reluctant to put faith in and odewingie's opening fixtures arent great. other than that good team. 🙂
Open Controls
Probably been asked before.. but anyway..
if he does move, how much do you think Sneijder will cost..?Open Controls9 - 9.5 i reckon
Open Controls
has anyone got a list of teams that rotate well together??
Open Controlshi guys, any feedback on my team would be great
GK : Given (Ruddy)
DF : Vermaelen, Kompany, Huth, O'Shea (Jose Enrique)
MF : Van Der Vaart, Downing, Albrighton (Sinclair, Ferguson)
FW : Rooney, Suarez, Holt
is my midfield too weak?Open Controlsvermaelen could be a key differential.
Open ControlsNot convinced Albrighton will be the star everyone expects; doubt he'll even be a regular starter.
Open ControlsMaybe slightly inflated, but I wouldn't say ludicrous... I think he'll score 150-160 easily again this year...
Open Controls
A.Cole and Moses
OR
Jags and Tarrabt. and 0.5 in bankOpen ControlsFirst!
Open Controls
What's the score with Drogba for this season. Chelsea's fixtures make me want him? Best bet for Chelsea attacking points under 10.5 million???
Thanks.Open ControlsIf I was spending that much I would want someone who will not be a rotation risk. It's annoying but they aren't going to leave Torres on the bench for all the games. I would love Drogba at that price but he might be rotated.
Open Controls
Pfft... First Jones, Young and De Gea and now Sneijder is en route.
United are buying the title and it makes me sick.Open Controls😆
Open ControlsIts true though. No one seems to bat an eye lid when United flash the cash around.
As soon as Chelsea or Citeh spend big, all the plastics are up in arms with cries of "Wage caps" and "Spending Curbs"Open ControlsI'm not going to insult your intelligence by assuming you don't realise the massive difference between City/Chelsea spending money and United spending money.
Open ControlsPlease, insult mine.
Do United always make sure the money is gift-wrapped?Open ControlsThe difference being we actually sell players/have a business model to finance it.
I'd also like to remind people that the likes of Tottenham have eclipsed united's spending in recent seasons.Open Controlshttp://www.forbes.com/pictures/mli45fdhk/no-1-manchester-united#content
Usually debt ridden basket cases don't get to be here....Open Controls
I agree with you.
Open ControlsLets hope Mancini gets fired early on in the season so that City can get a manager capable of winning the league.
Open ControlsDisagree about Mancini- City will push hard for the title this season imo.
Open ControlsProbably not because of Mancini though.
Not saying he's detrimental to the them, but with the squad a and finances at their disposal, Man City could do a little better than Mancini.Open Controls
its not even about the title anymore, even without the signings they'd still arguably be the best side in the prem. the money invested is more to do with challenging barca in europe.
Open Controlsgo to the doctor then
Open ControlsNo we had the title already. We are boosting our squad with many players retiring this year and Sneijder might not even come yet!!
De Gea is essential because we need a goalkeeper to replace VdS.
Jones is a young player and could end up replacing Rio in the next 5 years and Young is there in the place of Giggs.
We are certainly not buying the title if you compare us to City, at least we have a very talented youth team and many players almost ready to go into the first squad.Open ControlsWell said and you didnt even say anything about the money liverpool have spent and the money chelsea have and will spend
Open Controls
Disagree. Jones and Young are very good Prem signings but they won't take them to the next level. Sneijder however....
Open Controls....but man city spending the rest of the league into the stone age is OK? 😆
Don't worry, when Bolton have sold Cristiano Ronaldo for £80 million I'm sure you'll be able to buy whoever you want! 😛Open Controls+1
Chels doesn't count, though. They spent 50 mil, on one player, to *not* win the title. Guess that's what ole man noi integrity Chegs would want.
As your name suggests, this time last year United were broke and over. Huh.
Might as well blame fairplay rules for the spending orgy. Oh, and City's 400 million end-run around those rules? TotallyOpen ControlsTotally not worth disdain.
Same old wum. Getta puppy.Open Controls
Is Sneijder actually going to United?
I know the Mirror is going hard with it, but BBC/Grauniad/Telegraph are completely ignoring the whole thing.Open ControlsDoesn't matter ... the article, which Cheggsy doesn't trust either, is enough of a spark to light his ire.
Any port in a storm, eh?Open Controls- Open Controls
That's all speculation. I meant the Mirror are reporting bids, etc, when no one else is.
Open ControlsThe telegraph one goes almost as far- besides broadsheets almost never report a deal until pen has been put to paper.
Having said that anything could still happen lolOpen ControlsI think you'll offload Berbatov before anything else happens.
I know United have paid big fees this summer, but have freed up a large chunk of the wage bill to compensate (VDS, Scholes, JOS and Brown were on a fair bit I'd imagine). I think the Glazers may want some more cash on the table before A-OK-ing any more deals.Open ControlsWould hate to see berba leave just for sentimental reasons, but arguably it would be best for the team.
Milan were meant to be enquiring about him last summer I think...Open ControlsNo 30 year old is worth £20 million. Your lot should bite PSG's metaphorical hand off.
Open ControlsI'd take 20m for Berba in a heartbeat and thank him for his service and medals.
Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck and Owen are easily good enough for the 4 striking slots. Especially if we sign Sneijder and revert to 433 away from home.Open ControlsHere's probably going to stoke soon so I might as well get this in now....

Not bothered either way. We have Super Tom Cleverley.
Open ControlsGood player. Not sure if he'll make it at United, but deserves a shot.
Open ControlsMerked Iniesta good and proper the other night. Oh btw Faulk, we beat Barcelona... did you see that? 😀
Cheggers - Stop whining.Open Controls
Ok, I am bookmarking this post.
I remember when you were chatting on and on about Evans being the best centre back in the world and I said "he will lose his confidence and the fickle fans will turn against him"
Now you hate him. The same will happen with Cleverley, so I am saving this post for evidence.Open Controls
Anyone know what the Man City back 4 is likely to be?
Open Controlsrichards, kompany, lescott, clichy

What are your thoughts on Connor Wickham?
Regular starter at the beginning? Likely to score a lot of goals?Open ControlsNot at all

Is Briggs at Fulham likely to get much gametime once the season starts, or would I be better off upgrading hmi?
Open Controlsthat all depends on whether or not you're a gambling man
Open Controls
Hi guys,
Bit of a quandry, which of these options would you go for:
De Vries, VDV, Moses and Silva.
or
Foster, Malouda, Taarabt, Sessegnon?Open ControlsRMT.....
Begovic, Jussi
Assou-Ekotto, Skrtel, Shawcross, Cahill, Hangeland
Downing, Nasri, Gamst Pedersen, Bale, A Young
Gyan, Dembele, HoilettOpen Controlsspurs and arsenal have tough starts as do stoke, dembele not fit yet, id give ashley young 3weeks before he gets going especially with uniteds fixtures some chelsea and man city players needed
Open ControlsNew team every day eh Dan?
Open ControlsSick of changing my team around without being satisfied whoever I get so just going to keep this beautiful team until next Friday hopefully. 🙂
Open ControlsI kind of know who I want anyway, like Rooney, Van Persie plus either Silva/Malouda/VdV as my expensive midfielder but it's just the other gaps which are hard to pick at the moment, especially the defence.
Open Controls
What'd you reacon to this team gents? the only problem I see is my bench seems a little on the weak side. Can anyone offer some help?
Given
Kompany Luiz Alcaraz

I know their various mini leagues floating around, I was think about setting one up for us veterans of the game. Maybe for people having played for 5 years+, was thinking of doing a league table with the past 5 years added up to find the most consistent player. Anyone be up for that?
Open ControlsMight be less seasons if their isn't many who have played that long.
Open ControlsI'm on my 4th season
Open Controls
ratemyteam.co.uk has a feature called Hall of fame which looks at the best managers over the 5 years that FPL has been running. Sounds similar to what you are planning.
http://www.ratemyteam.co.uk/halloffame.phpOpen ControlsI'd be up for that, I've done 5+ years.
Open Controls
if wes joins united, projected price? i'm hoping for 10 if it happens.
Open Controlsright off the bat, really?
Open Controls
Is this Orr fella good then? Attacking? Is he best 4.0 option? Currently have Given/Al-Habsi, Baines, Kompany, Hughes, Simpson (Orr) at the back.
Open ControlsFerguson "Yes, Berbatov could play for PSG"
Also, According to Guardian's Dominic Fifield ,Zhirkov Mikel and Alex are the main candidates to be soldOpen ControlsIf Alex goes, that makes Luiz and I suppose Ivanovic better options and saves some money getting Cole.
Open ControlsIf Alex goes, I'll definitely be getting Luiz.
Open ControlsHe's not going anywhere. I've had words with Andre (thats a lie), but Zhirkov will most likely be sold. Mikel, I wouldn't be too sad to see go. Plus their sales will raise the money for the Modric transfer as well as freeing up places in the squad for Modric himself and Rajkovic, who if he can get a work permit may just mean that Alex is sold, although I hope he isnt.
Open Controls
Whats the better option?
A- Lamps & Yaya
B- Malouda & Silva
Thanks in advanceOpen ControlsB
