Our next Members article looking at the idea of βvalueβ sees Forwards come under the microscope. With a fresh revision of players last weekend in light of factors such as transfers and pre-season tactics, weβve tweaked the Projected totals to give you an up-to-date reflection on our thinking. While many of our top ten value forwards are lower-priced options that perhaps may be more suited to rotation, the kind opening prices afforded to the likes of Luis Suarez and Peter Odemwingie propels a couple of FPL big-hitters firmly into our thoughts.

Hi Guys,
I would appreciate so pointers on my team.
Given – (Ruddy)
Looks good for rotation
A.Cole – I am torn between Cole and Baines but I need Chelsea coverage
Hughes – Good starter, will get some assists, for a good price
Kompany – Obvious reasons
O’Shea and Simpson – O’Shea will Play and be captained, Simpson is cheap and will play –**Advice welcome**
Moses - Punt
Taarabt – The next C.Adam…etc etc
Silva – Class player
N’Zogbia - Obvious reasons
Dyer – I think Dyer is a decent sub who will play and good for rotation
Rooney – Class, can rotate with RVP
Ageuro – A punt as he is untested. But I don’t think I can go far wrong with the team he has behind him.
Rodallega – not everyone favourite player, but he is the striker against the 3 promoted clubs, there has to be goals.
I have 1 million left in the bank to either swap Rodallega of Odem when his games are more favourable, or change Silva to VDV or another top midfielder.
What do you think?Open Controlsi think your midfield is slightly weak. you have dyer, taarabt and moses. i think two players from weak teams should be enough. you should replace one of them for a quality player from a top team (ex. downing)that's just my opinion. otherwise the rest of the team is fine
Open Controlssaurabht, I'm intrigued, who do you have in midfield?
Mine (currently) is Malouda, Yaya, O'Hara, Sinclair and Moses which I would consider fairly strong, albeit not ideal, but has 3 players from weaker teams who could do well.
How do you get 3 players from top teams who are going to play without decimating the rest of your team?Open Controlsmy team is the following :
GK : Given (Ruddy)
DF : Vermaelen, Kompany, Huth, Hughes (Enrique)
MF : Van Der Vaart, Downing, N'Zogbia (Moses, Ferguson)
FW : Rooney, Suarez, Holt
so in my opinion, i have three top players from top 10 teams in van der vaart, downing and n'zogbia, and not at the expense of my defense and forwards. if anything, my midfield is probably the weakest. i think your midfield is fine. o'hara, sinclair and moses is decent. but i just think there's a lot of pressure on these players at weak teams to produce for their teammates.Open Controlssaurabht, dont know if your still here, but I like your reasoning and your team - I see the logic there.
one question though - do you live outside the uk? only because you dont seem to have any team allegiance.
Also, the weaker teams can get some good results, a bit of a punt but that's football πOpen Controlshehe, yeah i do live out of the UK. it's fantasy football. never heard of team allegiance getting you extra points π
by the way i made a few changes to my team. i exchanged van der vaart for david silva, upgraded ferguson to tiote, and brought in rvp for rooney.
i agree that the weaker teams can get some good results, and that's why the english premier league has the worldwide appeal, because every game is a contest, unlike the scottish premier league or the la liga (however, the quality of football is high in la liga, so it's still a joy to watch) but from a fantasy football point of view, it's just difficult for someone like sinclair or taarabt to elevate the level of their teammates on a consistent basis. even charlie adam could only do it for two thirds of the season, he was exhausted/distracted (liverpool interest) towards the latter stages of the season. and blackpool are a one off. teams like norwich and swansea are attacking, but it's one thing to be attacking in the championship, and another thing to do it against the likes of chelsea, arsenal, liverpool, man u etc. and also, if there are only one or two high quality players on these promoted teams, than it's easier for them to be crowded out of games. it's just more risky, but there's no harm in trying it out. i don't like to have too many risky players on my team. as of now, holt, moses, and tiote are my only risks. every other player on my team is a solid player.Open Controls
A pretty decent squad .. nice to see some thought behind it too plus £1m spare for decent tweeks in the future π
Open ControlsTo much Wigan remember last season first day when they lost 4-0 to Blackpool
Open ControlsI really don't like Dyer's prospects. Smells like a pick you'll regret for the rest of the season.
I'd be very uncertain about O'Shea. How good is he these days? Lots of changes at Sunderland. Might take time, and inevitable concession of goals.
I much prefer Baines to Cole for moral, attacking and set piece reasons.
Aguero will be rotated. Especially if Tevez stays.
Wigan are weakened, and unpredictable at the best of times. The promoted sides tend to do well early doors.
Rooney is streaky as hell. Unplayable when on fire, unpickable when on ice.Open ControlsBring on Draft Night π

I don't know what to say about Rafael yet. I'm concerned there will be quite some rotation at that right back. MUN now got Phil Jones, Fabio and Rafael to fight for the spot(if you let Evra be clear first choice on left back).Open Controls
Given - Gordon
Rafael - Gibbs - Kompany - Jagielka - Kelly
Bale - Wilshere - Valencia - Taarabt - O'Hara
Drogba - Suarez - Zamora
I'm traditionally a slow starter in Fants and want to get it right this year.
Any comments, tips etc PLEASE make 'em. Be brutally honest....
CheersOpen ControlsGordon has to go!
Open ControlsGordon should go, Bale isn't as great as people thought and isn't a good fantasy player. Taarabt is an unknown in the premiership, Valencia is injured and missed pre season so likely won't start ahead of Young/Nani to begin with, Wilshere isn't a good fantasy player (doesn't score and rarely gets assists, although is cheap)
Suarez won't be playing in GW1 and is likely going to start on the bench GW2 and Drogba may be rotated.
Sorry for the essay, I could be really wrong!Open Controls
Most would say
Rafael rotation risk
Gibbs poor early fixtures
Wilshere poss injury
Drogba not a cert to start
But then again it could score you bundles πOpen ControlsMy advice would be get rid of valencia until it becomes clear who SAF is going to pick, aso i dont see wilshere doing so well with nasri, fabs , rvp all ahead of him on set pieces etc. Try and stick to good old fantasy favourites to start with like dempsey or nzogbia and once team selections start becoming more clear you can throw some cheeky punts in.
Open ControlsDefinatley get rid of Gordan...Im not a fan of Bale & Valencia eithier. Otherwise looks a well rounded team to be honest

Not quite sure which to choose.Open Controlsdoesn't really matter, how often are you planning on playing your 4.0 defender?
Open ControlsThat depends on whether you're following the cheap rotation tactic for home games. If you are, it matters. That said, since both Simpson and Taylor will be in and out of your FPL team (on this tactical basis), lower price trumps better goal threat.

Lots of rumours going around that Enrique is set to sign for Liverpool tomorrow.
Mail back page has a little bit of it in headlines, but not confirming anything.
Surely it will be difficult to run him down for 5m if he goes? Liverpool look a better team this year (certainly happier to play for Dalglish than Hodgson aswell) and Enrique is a class act tbf.Open Controlslink seems to have died - try:
http://twitpic.com/600afi/fullOpen Controlsyup, i already have had him in my team under this assumption that he won't be at newcastle come gw1.
Open ControlsIf he signs Im going to go down the two 4 million keepers route and have an otherwise great team I think.
Open ControlsShame to miss out on Given - but money is so tight this year that it might be necessary to make ends meet.
I've got Malouda, Silva, Rooney, Suarez and Aguero in my team ffs πOpen ControlsId rather Enrique to Given as Liverpool are better than Villa.
Ill have to see. Thinking QPR/Swansea at the back.Open Controls
would be good fantasy option but the daily fail are reporting it so it problemly BS as wes sneijder was set to sign for man utd 4 weeks ago and that turned out to be BS
Open ControlsIn the telegraph too bro http://t.co/310XJa0
That said, I share your skepticism.Open Controls
Fee agreed for Enrique but personal terms are sticky, high wage demands.
Open ControlsDidn't you just get rid of some guy on 120k? Should have freed up a bit.
He'll be straight in my teamOpen ControlsThe standard FFS team is forming:
Given + Ruddy
Kompany + Enrique + 4m + 4m + Baines/Cole
Moses + 5.5-6.5m x 3 + 9.5m+
9.5m+ x 1/2 + a cheapie or 2.Open Controls
I think Enrique to Liverpool is the most certain transfer this summer, Liverpool want a good left back - he is a good left back, he wants to leave - obviously he would want to go to Liverpool, if Liverpool cant afford wages that Newcastle can then I dont know what is going on, he'll be at Anfield come the Sunderland game, I'm sure of it.
Then again he might not be.Open ControlsWe pay him £45k a year and we offered him it again and he said no.
Playing first team football for someone who is challenging for CL places on £45k is surely better than playing for us and our ever decreasing body count.
Can we have Insua as part of the deal please? πOpen Controls
depends on fixtures and coverage that you plan on having for both teams.
Open Controlsya, what are your plans for arsenal/man utd. coverage if you don't have rooney/rvp? i'm assuming you'll have one player from each team at least?
Open Controlsmy team is the following
GK : Given (Ruddy)
DF : Vermaelen, Kompany, Huth, Enrique (O'shea/Hughes, still deciding)
MF : Van Der Vaart, Downing, N'Zogbia (Moses, Ferguson)
FW : Rooney, Suarez, Holt
So to answer your question, i have vermaelen from arsenal, but no one else besides rooney for man uOpen Controlsok, so i'd say if you go w/rooney, get an arsenal mf like ramsey or nasri if he stays. if you get rvp, then have some utd. coverage other than defence. i tend to think that rvp will blow the rest of arsenal squad out of the water in terms of consistent pts., whereas rooney won't since utd. seem to get help/balance from all over. vdv by the way has horrible fixtures and already took a knock pre-season, be wary.
Open Controlswho do you think i should exchange for van der vaart? you think i should replace him for a player in the same price range?
so you're saying that van persie is the safer option?Open Controls
at their given prices, it's assumed that they're going to score about the same amount of pts.

Fergie in an interview with French TV tonight said Sneijder is "just paper talk" but when asked if Berbatov could go to Paris (PSG) he said something link "yes, no problem".
InterestingOpen Controlsinteresting. i wonder why he keeps denying sneijder link so strongly when there's obviously something going on behind closed doors. if not, that's some strong paper talk.
Open ControlsSo that City or someone wont come in and snatch him from us. If City don't know what United are going to do they wont bid for him because they generally don't need him as much as we do.
Open Controlssneijder doesn't want to go to city either, they're after nasri anyway. like i said earlier, sneijder, nasri and modric situations will be very interesting to see and so close to the start of the season. those moves alone would change so many of our teams ha.
Open Controls
Have you got a source for this French TV interview? There's no reference to it from any French news sources or friendly journalists, and the Berbatov quotation seems out of character from Ferguson.
Not saying that the move might not happen, but PSG have an abundance of strikers at the moment (Gameiro, Hoarau, Erding, Luyundula, Bahebeck, Arnaud, Maurice), and would probably need to sell someone before buying Dimitar. Mevlut Erding is a target for Newcastle, Lille & Rennes, I believe.Open ControlsErding isn't going anywhere according to the PSG chairman and Gameiro just signed for them. They don't need Berbatov really.

Went to the drawing board again and came up with this. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Greetings.
Schwarzer (Ruddy)
Kompany-Luiz-Hughes (O'Shea-Simpson)
Cahill-Brunt-Taarabt-Silva (Moses)
Rooney-Zamora-Suarez
Thx!Open ControlsI don't think that Cahill is worth 9.0. You could get a lot of other better people imo. The rest of the team looks good, but be wary of the fact that Suarez and Luiz may not start GW1
Open Controlsschwartzer ehhh, brunt ehhhh, the rest looks good and well balanced. cahill is also an option that i'm not seeing too much of. i'd have nzog in there since no bent, maybe find a way to upgrade brunt to nzog by downgrading zamora?
Open Controls
OK, heres my current pick … RMT
Hart, Al-Habsi
Vidic, Baines, Hughes, Kompany, Simpson
N’Zog, Sinclair, Hoolahan, Tarrabt, Tiote
Bent, Zamora, Carroll
0.5m in bankOpen ControlsStruggling a bit for strong captain choices unless you are going to captain a defender/Hart. Bent/Carroll I guess would be wearing the armband most weeks.
That said it does break the standard formula so if this season turns out to be the year of strong defenses scoring the points then you would be differentiented well.
Personally I'd lose one of Vidic/Baines though for a 3rd strong captain option but I guess then it does start to look more like everyone else's so fair play for a different tactic.Open Controls
Malouda or Downing?
Open ControlsHart
Samba Orr Luiz (Simpson, Huth)
N'Zog VDV Hoolahan Taarabt (Dyer)
Zamora Carroll Rooney (c)
This is my team for the start of the season. I have been tinkering for weeks, but i feel it is now ready.. so i dont need a RMT π Just thought i'd share with you all what you have all helped to create.
Happy with my Center backs when Huth comes in, and Hart gives the cover of Citys defence even though he is very expensive. Taarabt has a few games to prove himself, if not hes out for Sssengenson, Hoolahan is just a cheeky punt, but i think hes gna be good... and the rest speak for themselves π good luck to everyone!Open Controlswill ivanovic be a regular? im .5 short on affording cole.
Open ControlsJust a general thought. seeing the best formation last season was 3-5-2 theres a lot of people gambling in midfield with, sinclair, taarabt, albrighton, nzogbia, moses, sessegnon, hoolahan. etc etc.
i have put a couple in but not 4 or 5 as some people. bit risky!!Open ControlsThe best formation last season was 3-4-3, like it is every year.
Open ControlsFirst year picking... I have big money w/ Suarez and Tevez at forward...big money w/ Van der Vaart and Kuyt. Is that good?? I have poor defenders Fabio/Aurelio/Wheater
Open Controls
ya, i'd go for a couple big guns myself and have some cheaper options that you normally won't start to sit on the bench because then you set yourself up for a headache every week during team selection and will kick yourself when you have a lot of bench pts. makes it much more unpredictable when you have less of a gap between prices.
Open ControlsThis year is just so different: the prices are so ridiculous that you need to find value where you can, and this year, the best value is in the 6-7 mil midfielders.
Open Controls

second team is most balanced but was looking at points and the midfield and attack score way more than defense so surely the 3rd team would score the most pointss?
thoughts?Open ControlsI don't believe the hype about Silva.
I would say £8.5mill is the right price. He is a great player but not a great FPL player, similar to Wilshere. He doesn't score and doesn't get too many assists either.
He could be great or he could struggle.Open ControlsI think he means in fantasy terms. Which is probably still wrong actually
Open ControlsI meant as in FPL scoring terms i.e. rarely score
Open Controlsi agree, they both occupy different areas of the pitch. if anything, silva is more similar to nasri. they both interchange positions seamlessly, but both prefer to make runs cutting inside from the left. both are dexterous, and skillful players. the only difference is that silva is left footed.
Open Controls
I keep putting silva in and then i take him out for yaya to free up some funds
HELPOpen ControlsGo for Yaya. He is has strength and height and will score more goals than Silva even playing a defensive role. 1.5 cheaper too

One season and he become increasingly influential for Citeh. This could be a breakout season for him, FPL needs Fab/Fat Frank/Gerard replacements, after all.
