Our next Members article looking at the idea of “value” sees Forwards come under the microscope. With a fresh revision of players last weekend in light of factors such as transfers and pre-season tactics, we’ve tweaked the Projected totals to give you an up-to-date reflection on our thinking. While many of our top ten value forwards are lower-priced options that perhaps may be more suited to rotation, the kind opening prices afforded to the likes of Luis Suarez and Peter Odemwingie propels a couple of FPL big-hitters firmly into our thoughts.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Tramadol is great, used it a lot for slipped disc probs, take two pills and even though you can feel the pain you just don't care about it. (It's an opiate and equivalent to about 10% Morphine)

I feel like Peter Gibbons from Office Space after he's hypnotised when I'm on it (if that means anything to anyone ;))

    Given, Kenny

    Luiz, Hughes, Kompany, Orr, Simpson

    Silva, Moses, Kalou, N'Zogbia, Taarabt

    Drogba, Bent, Holt

Got 3.0 mil in the bank and plan to get RVP in for drogba GW4. i just cant ignore chelseas run. as for kalou, he is a points machine when he plays as he plays very a attacking role and i can see his first few weeks being huge

Trouble with Kalou is he's rarely a starter and can sometimes come on for 5/10 minutes meaning that your sub doesnt come in for him.
My brother had him in his team last year and he was a machine alright- a 1pt machine

I haven't seen old Damien Duff in a RMT for a long while.
I went through the match reports for Fulham's preseason games and allocated points according to FPL rules (didn't do bonus) and Duffers outscored Zamora 27 points to 24. And he's 0.5m cheaper.

Duff is looking good pre-season but then he's been a little inconsistent over the years. Decided I'm sticking to a solid team this year - pre-season has screwed me over too many times! 😀

        More Duff-stats:

He scored 3.8 points per game for the whole of last season but 5.3 ppg in the second half of last season. Will he continue this good form? Preseason suggests he will and remember these are competitive Europa league games, not friendlies.

I agree that you want to take as few risks as possible but it is very difficult/impossible to make a team without taking a few and without knowing how teams will line up.

A good team if the two big hitters that are doubts (nani & suarez) start GW1. I'd maybe try to look at Malouda for Nani. Malouda looks to be a safer option in terms of both fixtures and rotation risk.
I like Downing in your team. I think he'll do well and it's a little different.
Not sure about Bothroyd at all but if you think its a good pick go with it

Yeah I think for me it's a toss up between Bardsley and O'Shea. O'Shea would seem more likely to start every game (and maybe the odd BP?) whereas Bardsley is more likely to score/assist. Kieran Richardson is throwing a spanner in the works playing left back in pre-season though with Bardsley at right back...

Luiz, Kompany, Jose Enrique, Bramble, Simpson

    the logic:

most weeks you start the 3 from the big clubs. even with luiz being a rotation risk, you have the perfectly rotating newcastle/sunderland combo on your bench. all at an affordable price. yes it means im parting with baines, but this is a potentially long term solution allowing me to dedicate more transfers to the attack, where bringing in the players in form is so crucial.

It's a pretty good DF for the money. Similar to mine though I have Clichy instead of Luiz (but .5 in the bank) until I know who will start for Chelsea. I'm hoping that I will be able to go Clichy>Bosingwa in GW2/3 and free up another .5. Wishful thinking I know.

Why is everyone so convinced Enrique will go to pool? Just because of his twitter rant?

      I have

      Bosingwa, Kompany, Bardsley/Enrique, Briggs, Simpson

tempted to play with the configuration and rotation options though quite happy with the rest of my team so reluctant to downgrade a striker.

His value, where he to be a starter at a team like Liverpool, is too much of a bargain.

At Liverpool he will easily outscore his rivals in the 5m bracket i.e. Bardsley, Hughes, R. Johnson etc.

How much would Enrique have been if he had been a Liverpool player at the start of the game? £6m? So you have surely got a bargain player.

He isn't a 'Pool player yet and their defensive frailties lie more at CB so Kenny might be looking at other players.

Over the season he's a bargain, but those first lot of fixtures are very dodgey.

Of course he'll do well if you only play him in the good fixtures, but at 5m he's getting to the point where you don't want to rotate him that much. The big upside I see is that of those 3 good fixtures, you would expect a couple of clean sheets (4.66 ppg when you play him), but its finding players to rotate around him and what you can do with the extra cash.

He plays for Liverpool and is (imo) a quality footballer.
It's true Liverpool have some tough away games but at 5m it's not the end of the world if you bench him.

          Gw2 Bramble (NEW)
          Gw4 Enrique (stk)
          Gw5 Bramble (STK)
          GW7 Bramble (WBA)
GW8 admittedly not attractive, but pools fixtures improve immediately after, i can handle those fixtures.

It's not just about the fixtures it's about the value for me. While LIV aren't fixture proof they are playing markedly less football than the other Big clubs. Whilst other budget options from MANU, CHE, ARS, MCY, etc are in Europe picking up injuries and fatigue players like Hose B will be slowly harvesting points and value. Sell him in march and get in a top player from a team knocked out of europe if necessary but he may just be a great investment with his goal threat and place in a better quality team than Toon.

    Evening guys (and girls??)

With no new developments untill the start of the season I’m pretty sure I’m going to choose between:

    A)
    Given (Rudy)
    Baines-Kompany-Bramble-Briggs-Taylor S
    N’Zogbia-Moses-Malouda-Sinclair-Silva
    Van Persie-Zamora-Hoilett
    0,5m left

    B)
    Given (Rudy)
    Baines-Kompany-Bramble-Briggs-Simpson
    Dyer-Moses-Malouda-Sinclair-Silva
    Van Persie-Zamora-Bent

    Which comes down to:
    A)Taylor S – N’Zogbia – Hoilett – 0,5m
    B)Simpson – Dyer – Bent

My preference goes to B but I really like the option to transfer Zamora for Odemwingidingie without problems.
I will have 1-2 weeks to see how the promoted guys are doing. Maybe after 1-2 weeks Bent will be transfered out for Suarez.

Thoughts & suggestions? Too many rotation risks in the cheap department? Any descent replacement for Dyer?
    Thx.

    Right, here's my thinking ...

    Kenny (Given)
Kompany A.Cole Jose Enrique (Simpson Bramble)
    Silva Sessegnon Benayoun Moses (Sinclair)
    Carroll(C) RVP Zamora

    0.5 in the bank

Clearly the big risk is Benayoun but he's been getting game time pre-season and if the Modric move doesn't happen I think he's a decent shout for a regular starting berth (in which case 7.0 will be an absolute steal).
If Modric does go, then I would probably upgrade to him with little impact on the rest of the line up.

    Thoughts?

Looking good apart from the Benayoun situation that you mentioned. Carroll to Suarez as soon as Kenny decides he's ready to play.
I'm going Rooney over RVP but I am wearing some heavily tinted glasses and I certainly wont criticise anyone for including RVP in their team
