Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.”

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.”

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.”

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a while”.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

I see a few familiar DZ faces.

Help me sort out this team. No obvious transfers - unless there's an injury coming.

    Forster
    Clyne Duff Naylor
    Fabregas DiMaria Sterling Siggy
    Costa Aguero Pelle

    Moore Boyd Chambers

    2 FTs 0.1m ITB

Considered Aguero Naylor -> Welbeck Baines + 2m
But madness isn't it, transferring an in form Kun?

It's certainly an option. It's a lot of cash. Personally I wouldn't ditch at the minute. Wait and see. It may become clearer who you should ditch if one player is becoming a must have and others are failing

I got two FTs though. If everyone comes through unscathed from this intl break, I'll just waste that FT?

Im in a similar boat. I may squander a FT and I even have Moreno 😯 Just nothing looks crystal clear at the minute. In fact, an international injury would probably be a blessing to my team lol

That's what I'm thinking as well.
At least with an injury we can have some differentials as well. And us with 2 FTs would be in a advantageous position.

Yeah I don't like to wish an injury on someone but it would certainly giv us an advanatge for the following gameweek. Unless that injury is to Welbeck or someone and then we're all stuck getting the same players. I wouldnt mind Costa being out for a few weeks.

As your starting 11 has 9 of my players of course you are fine!!

Really though, looks fine, dont ship Aguero.

It might be down to Kun Naylor Siggy vs Welbeck Baines Walcott.

Just need Siggy to grind further 0.2m profit

Great minds and all. But our rank couldn't be more different.

My captain choices has been terrible this year. 4 blanks I think

I currently have Siggy and Henderson as my 4th and 5th mids. I need to drop one to fund Baines in for Caulker.

Leaning towards selling Siggy. It's risky, but given their upcoming fixtures and Swansea's lack of quality, it could be the right move.

    Am I being rational?

    1. Koflok

Make sense, Baines should outscore Siggy in the next 5

Siggy is the best value mid in the game I feel. If you ditch him, you probably wont be getting him back either or will have to stump up a fair wad of cash. The fixtures dont look great alright but he's punished those who doubted him so far 😉

Would MUCH rather have Siggy than Hendo. Don't get me wrong, as a Liverpool supporter I love Hendo, but he won't provide the consistency of returns that you'll want. Much better to keep Siggy while his fixtures are good.

Hi all, need help with my team:

    Mannone Heaton

    Duff Moore Wisdom Clyne Hutton

    Fab Sterling Tadic ADM Cork

    Costa Kun Ulloa:

    1.6 ITB

I could do Ulloa => Welbeck, but my defense is weaker than Aguero's hamstrings

    Any suggestions would be helpful

    Thanks!.

As much as I like the ulloa the Welbeck ure right the defence is in need of serious upgrade, one of them to Bertrand for double up maybe?

TBH I'm happy that my defense can rotate well, but it lacks the attacking prowess that will ultimately make a difference. The most I can get with this bunch is a clean sheet.

Although I do fancy Bertrand, I'm not too keen on two S'ton defense. What about Jagielka? Good fixtures in the next 5 game weeks.

        Thanks

Is getting rid of Fabregas crazy? I need to beef up my defence so I'm really tempted by the following transfers...

    Fabregas > Chadli
    Naylor > Baines
    Bardsley > Azpi/Mangala

This would be for -4. I have the exact cash, so I'd likely be priced out before the international break is over... But can I have some thoughts on the transfers though, DZ?

      The transfers themselves are decent.

        No one really.

        Team is:

        Forster
        Bards* - Clyne - Naylor* - Moore - Duff
        ADM - Fab* - Siggy - Sterling - Boyd
        Costa - Aguero - Pelle

Fabregas is not explosive, but he still ranks up the points.

I wouldn't get rid especially considering his high ownership.

I agree on the beefing up the defense, though (somehow).

That's a tough one in that case.

Imo, Welbeck and Baines would outscore Aguero and a 4.5. But I guess it depends how badly you want to keep Aguero than going for Welbz.

Fabregas - Great assist potenital, Probably Chelsea's main creator, risk of disappearing at times
      VS
Chadli - Furthest forward, their main attacking outlet atm, Great Goal threat + good assist potential

Naylor - Decent fixtures but incredibly leaky Swansea side, Roscola pointed out that their defence has been very unstable despite the few CS they have kept
      VS
Baines - Penalties, FKs, Corners, Fantastic Assist potential, Everton's chief creator in play and numbers-wise, Lord Leighton Baines

Bardsley - Complete and utter shite
      VS
Mangala - City side that are on the way up, great fixtures in a solid defence, shown he is quite the goal threat
Azpi - Solid Chelsea side that look like they CAN keep cleansheets, wether they will is a different story - seems to vary by opponent. Great baps magnet

All this for -4? I'm in.

    I have 2 frees and 0.6 ITB:

    Beg (McCarthy)
    Clyne Moreno Naylor (Duff Hutton)
    Fab Sig Sterling ADM (Boyd)
    Costa Pelle Falcao

Falcao is going to make way as he doesn't look sharp to me. I'm keen in Aguero, Welbeck and the peoples favourite Baines. So what are the best moves:

    A, Aguero plus a 4.5
    B, Welbeck and Baines

I'll probably be losing Moreno as part if the trade

    @Inns,

Just realized how freakishly similar our transfer moves as well.

You had a better start though (I had Young, Bojan and Luis at the beginning ffs) since you played Siggy Chester and Costa then.

But since then our decision have been similar - esp on GW 4 we both went Sterling and Balo instead of Costa. I amplified it with going Naismith rather than my planned Bojan -> Pelle move
And you had a week early WC which got you Maria's haul.

So here I am sitting at near 600k mark and you're at 32k.

Pick one in each group for the next 6 fixtures:

    Kun vs Costa vs Rooney

    Welbeck vs Pelle vs Lukaku

    Siggy vs Henderson vs Downing

    Ivanovic vs Baines vs Azpi

The template "must have" would be Costa, Welbeck, Siggy, Baines but if in need of a differential any of these players would be good right??

The "winners" by stats over the last four GWs alone are:

      Costa
      Pelle
      Henderson (demolished siggy and downing)
      Baines

Welbeck is too good to ignore over the next few and I am very tempted to get Baines now...

    4. JasonG123
      • 12 Years

Out of those, the only potential good differentials in my opinion could be Azpi (seems to be a gap magnet and Chelsea are tightening up), and Lukaku (the puntmaster rates him).

Henderson's stats are very, very impressive too. Once Sturridge comes back I'm gonna watch Sterling very closely to see if I can fund Kun by going Sterling ----> Hendo

          • 12 Years

Yes but he shouldn't be used as a differential to Siggy, and it's hard to fit him into the midfield with so many other good options.

I agree, I'm not looking to get rid of Siggy, he's a keeper. However in a couple of weeks I may go Sterling ---> Hendo (almost identical stats) and Pelle/Welbeck ---> Kun if he continues to scare the sh1t out of me...

Haha, I read your blog every time you post it, LOVE it!

This week it confuses me though because having that perfect 7 (8) makes you feel trapped (a con). But Kun will eventually go BANG, score 18 points while others captain him and I will cry.

Ugh, this game does my head in. I'm not going to touch my team for a week (hopefully (not really) Kun just gets injured) 😆 Only joking (kind of.)

Really don't want to get rid of Fab unless it's for Haz. Chelsea's Midfield are just way to good, in fact I imagine a Chelsea player will be top of the points in every position bar GK maybe this season.

Could someone please explain why so many people are selling Ulloa?

I really hate selling a player who has such good value for the season, and don't see a 2 game 'drought' as a big deal.

Makes me wonder if the manager has said something to suggest is likely to be dropped, or he has an injury concern?

1- Hot to I get a grav sorted so I can contribute to the discussions more easily?

2- I am currently leading my mini cash league but my team i so template and my defence is shocking thinking I might wildcard this week.

    Current team
    Begovic ( Gilks)

    Clyne Naylor Duff (Wisdom) (Caulker)

ADM Fab Sterling Siggy ( Marney)

    Pelle Costa Aguero

Should I keep or change to this on WC

    Begovic ( Gilks)

    BAINES AZPI Clyne (Duff) (Wisdom)

Adm CHADLI Sterling Siggy ( Isgorve)

    WELBECK Aguero Costa

Any advice would be appreciated think the new team gives me way more at the back without a huge sacrifice elsewhere

Last week I had a classic example of why you need to think about the *whole team* when you make transfers.

I narrowed it down to the choice of

    A) Terry+ Ramsey -> Chambers + Di Maria for -4
    B) Ramsey - Downing

    Which equated to the following:

    A) Di Maria(13)+Chambers or Duff(0 or 1) -4 = 9 or 10
    B) Downing(8)+Terry(6) = 14

I chose downing, and so I came out 4 or 5 points on top, with lots of money in the bank. Actually, when Di Maria scored and assisted I felt sick and was sure I'd made a bad decision. Of course, some weeks Terry could've blanked, Chambers could've scored, etc. but similarly Downing could (and arguably should) have got another assist, Di Maria's scuffed shot could've resulted in nothing, etc. etc.

All ifs and buts, but what it shows that you can't just look at decisions based purely on the bigger players involved, neglecting the cash invested elsewhere. This is why I make most of my decisions based on value, and try to spend most of my budget on high value players.

I'm sure lots of people took a -4 for Di Maria last week and felt very happy about it, not realising they actually lost points.

Saying that, I might bring him in for a hit this week 😆

          Ha ... nice!

I understand what you're saying though ... it's taken me 5 years to learn not to transfer early and wait for team pressers. That old itch that you just want to see your team finalised and ready for action - it's cost me about 100 points i reckon!

Downing ... the real deal, good move to get him in. Now get ADM before you get whalloped!

Yeah the only issue is I'd have to sell Fabregas for him, or mess up my team bigstyle. Bit annoying.

I agree with you about making the right decision rather than the quick one. Squad won't be as expensive, but IMO that isn't a big issue unless you only go for big names.

Yep I always use this logic when making my moves.

      Opportunity cost and all that.

The way my team is set up
    Krulliott
    Baines Terry Clyne CAULKER Duff
    Eriksen Sterling Siggy Tadic Adm
    Costa Welbeck Vardy
    1.8 in the bank
    1 FT

The only person i want out is Caulker. Considerin i'm sticking with a 3-5-2 and all my mids have good fixtures/form would
    A) Caulker to Mangala/Kompany/Azpilicueta be madness
    OR
    B) Vardy to Sakho be the better option
    OR
    C) Save my transfer and continue starting at that rubbish QPR jersey until i get a chance to swap him for Chambers?

Wow huge midfield. I hope Tadic comes good. I am a Southampton fan and he's my favourite player, although I think mane might end up being a better FF choice.
