Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.”

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.”

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.”

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a while”.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

    Forster (McCarthy)
    Azpil - Clyne - Taylor (Pieters/PvA)
Downing - Cesc - ADM - Sterling (Siggy)
    Pelle - Costa - Welbz

Team for GW8 assuming no one gets injured on international duty. Opinions? Who to bench out of Downing (Burnley A) and Siggy? (Stoke A)

Downing, not justifiable to play downing over siggy with those fixtures

I'm in the exact same situation... same midfield.
I was thinking Siggy but then downing played rather deep in the last game...decisions decisions..

Cesc might be rested since that game is between Manu and Livp away.

The sellers will all Walcott(c) vs Burnley anyway.

      Okay he has a great game 2 assists + 2 bonus = 8+2+3 = 13

Do you really see him doing more than that?

You buy Fabregas for consistency not for the explosiveness of certain fixtures...

I'll feel good since Chadli will get opportunities against Villa and I'll have Baines (SWA) and Azpi (QPR) instead of Naylor (eve) and Bardsley. Planning for one GW is silly though, as we've seem already with City 0-1 Stoke and Pool 0-1 Villa.

    2FT and 2.8 ITB

    Bego (McCarthy)
    Baines, Moreno, Bertrand (Duff, Wilson)
    Sterling, Siggy, ADM (Rambo, Cork)
    Costa, Ulloa, Pelle

With Rambo's injury, I am thinking of either
    A) Rambo & Pelle > Hazard & Lukaku or Mane & Aguero

I remember posting when on my WC that Chadli was much better value than Mirallas/Tadic for 1.5M less at the time.

Then I had to get Di Maria, so I sold Chadli...

So why the feck did I buy Tadic over Chadli as my Ramsey replacement last week!? 😆

By that you mean? They were still only outscored by the other 'top 7' teams last season for goals in what was a poor season for them, and none of them have a 6M nailed on attacking midfielder.

    DDG (Gilks)
Terry / Clyne / Bertrand (Moore / Hutton)
    Fab / Sterling / Siggy / Tadic / Hendo
    Costa / Aguero (Ulloa)

Save FT this week yes? Would you start Hendo or Ulloa?

Thinking the following week with 2FT to downgrade Hendo to 4.5 and upgrade Ulloa to Welbeck?

Was planning to downgrade De Gea and get Baines in for Terry but they've down well for me the last couple of weeks. Can I avoid having to get ADM?

    Thanks in advance

What do you feel has been your unluckiest FPL moment?

For me, a couple of years back, I had RVP (c) and Walcott (vc). RVP was rested, and appeared for a late 15-minute cameo, and...
we all remember what Walcott did against Newcastle.

oh I have had about 1000 the last few seasons

One that I remember was my main rival captained Benteke and he went off injured after 20 minutes, I laughed and I laughed. (I had Walcott captain at home to a pathetic team)

Then Walcott gets f'ken injured in the warm up and my captaincy changes to Benteke...I was FUMING

I have Baines and trying to find a way to get Aguero in. This what I've come up with -

    1) I can go with a mid of ADM, Sterling, Fab, Siggy/Chadli, Boyd and an attack of Costa, Aguero, Sakho/Naismith (£5.6m fwd)

The 3rd striker can be picked based on form and fixtures from the cheaper pool of players but means a transfer every 3-4 weeks.

    2) I could drop one of the premium mids and go with a stable 3-4-3

    3) I could just drop the idea of getting Aguero and go with Costa, Pelle, Welbeck front line

You'll have to have some luck to get 1 right, but it could be very profitable. While 2 will leave your midfield underpowered and with the decision of which one to ship. Another problem with 2 is if the cheaper option's points dry up - which is very possible. My preference is 3 since Welbeck and Pelle are somewhat underpriced (can see them being 8-9.5m next season) and leave you with a very strong midfield.

      1. Sunny 😎
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 2 months ago

I don't really want to get rid of my premium mids yet. Maybe ADM will slow down and make the decision easier.

A problem with 3 is that it gives a big benching headache. I'll have to pick one to bench from the 5 man midfield and Pellbeck every week

What would the headache be - I'm sure you could avoid it by upgrading elsewhere? You could always go Ivan + Baines in defence.

Thanks for the suggestion Van, I'll look in to what combos I can come up with. But I'm not playing my wildcard yet so upgrading elsewhere will take up a few weeks without hits..

        TV 103.4.

Played WC at the right time and got a bit lucky with risers and fallers to be honest. Also haven't really paid over the odds for anyone, except Siggy (took me a few weeks to see the value in that)

Yeah, makes a change! Getting Costa, Aguero, Sterling, ADM, Fab and Forster at their original price, Welbeck for 6.9m has really helped obviously.

Ranked around 58k though, so work to be done. Captain choices have sucked so far.

          103.3 m here

That's after paying 0.7m more for Cesc/ADM/Sterling then their starting prices.

          And I don't own Welbeck.

Team looks good on paper for next week:

    Elliot/Krul
    Bertrand, Duff, Baines
    Sterling, Di María, Fábregas, Gerrard
    Pellè, Lukaku, Welbeck
    (Wanyama, van Aanholt, Hutton)

    Can only mean disappointment right?

hmmm a bit different - not bad, but no Costa and no Kun is risky - you have enough money ITB to upgrade if necessary? Also Pool for me not convincing enough to justify doubling up (I know they have QPR next)

    Morning guys
    Manone/Heaton
    Clyne/Bertrand/Naylor/Williamson/Duff
    Adm/Fabregas/Sterling/Sidgurson/Dyer
    Aguero/Costa/Ulloa

I am thinking of Dyer+Williamson into Wanyama+Baines (mostly because i want Baines due to his easy fixures). My only worry is if i should upgrade Ulloa instead (maybe Wellbeck/Pelle). Any advice would be appreciated

    Thanks in advance!

Thinking of selling PVA & Chambers. Should I go:

    A) 5.0 + 4.0 combo (Alderweireld & Dummet)
    B) 4.5 + 4.5 combo?

    Thanks
