Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.â€

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.â€

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.â€

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a whileâ€.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

For those wildcarding - 3 reasons why I am going without Kun (despite currently owning him).

    1. His hamstrings. Apart from the fact that they could go at any point, this also prevents him from getting huge scores. If city are winning 2-0 he'll usually get subbed (to protect him). This is reflected in his highest score this season - only 8 points - which limits his captaincy appeal.

    2. His price. Unbalances the rest of your team - would mean dropping a big hitting mid (all performing well) or going cheap in defence, without the likes of Baines.

    3. Other options. Costa is a must. Welbeck and Pelle offer outstanding value with great fixtures.

Three good reason not to have best striker in league playing in attacking minded team with good fixtures coming up.

211 pts in his first season at City suggest if he can somehow stay fit, he'll be giving Costa a run for his money for the top spot.

But I agree with your points and I'm holding off for now and see how he does next game week before making a decision.

I've done the same but remember that you get double Aguero points when you captain him, he gets so many points when he's fit - I hate not owning him.

Yes. His scores so far concludes he is not able to score no more than one goal per game. Based on a 7 games sample. Good research there.

Can be wildly erratic. When he first came back from injury it was something ridiculous and that regressed over time.

Believe me, I want to own Aguero but right now he isn't a captaincy option which is a pain. After the Int. break things may change.

Im not saying he can't score more, obviously he can! Just that those who are saying he could have scored a hatty vs Villa are not taking into account that if he had scored a brace he would have been taken off.

      All perfectly good reasons.

    How essential is Welbeck?

He has scored 1 goal 1 assist in 390 mins EPL play...

He got a hat trick v Gala in CL

He has: HULL sun BURN swa MANU wba SOUTHMPTON Stoke NEWC

He has a good creative midfield behind him but is HE GOOD ENOUGH and will Giroud eat into his game time when back?

Think the earlier points about limited upside might be right though - he is preserved when they're ahead, and is therefore less likely to get several goals

Giroud could well take his place when back but not worth thinking about that the moment, he's a few months away from match fitness.

7m or so for Arsenal's number 1 striker with those fixtures, a no-brainer for me.

He's pretty cheap and has the most creative midfield in the league to supply him with chances, I think he'll do more than enough to justify having him.

      11 years, 2 months ago

So far he has played Man City, Spurs, Chelsea and Villa. The only team you'd "expect" points from he managed double figures.

While his opening 4 (6 in all comps) have shown you can't call him fixture proof, there's no reason not to believe he won't do well given he has 4 goals and an assist in 2 games vs poor opponents for Arsenal, and has 8 out of 9 games vs teams you'd expect Arsenal to beat.

2FT & cant think of anything pressing to change. Please take a look at below, would appreciate some feed back 0.5 ITB

    Mannone [Hamer ]
    Clyne Wilson Duff [Moore Chambers]
Fabregas Sterling Sigurdsson Di María [Hammond]
    Aguero [C] Pelle Costa [V]

    A:) Pelle > Welbeck

Got to be worth keeping at that price with the 3 of the next 5 fixtures at home against low level sides. Sensible move i think is to get shot of mannone. But really tempted to take a risk by bring welbeck in for Pelle as have no Arsenal attacking cover

Maybe, but I reckon Welbeck will outscore him short and long term.

    Repost

My back 5 is Ivan / Moore / Wisdom / PVA / Chambers
Thinking of selling PVA & Chambers. Should I go:

    A) 5.0 + 4.0 combo (Alderweireld & Dummet)
    B) 4.5 + 4.5 combo?

    Thanks

Roberto Di Matteo, who has just been appointed the new head coach of Schalke, will have an opportunity to exact revenge on Chelsea when the teams meet in the Champions League next month!

We as chelsea fans respect him for what he did and he respects the club. Don't know why words like 'revenge' are used 🙄

The club turfed him out, reckon that's what he means.

Moreno and Zaha > Azpi and Barry

    Or

Moreno and Falcao > Baines and Welbeck?

Not convinced by Welbeck to be honest.

    Thanks in advance.

First one, but is Barry 4.5? If he isn't you may as well get a 4.5 mid.

No he's 4.9 but I like the idea that he starts every game so if I had a non starter in my team on a particular GW he'd be off the bench 🙂

You can find some other starting 4.5 mids. It's just pointless wasting 4.9m on someone like Barry!

      2nd one.

Barry is a no go zone, who else could you afford?

Someone like Boyd but I like a 5th mid who actually plays rather than picking a crap mid cos of budget.

    Heaton (Gilks)
    Clyne/Wilson/Naylor (Hutton/Moore)
    Sterling/Fab/ADM/Siggy (Boyd)
    Costa/Aguero/Pelle

    2 FT
    0.2 ITB

Really want to upgrade my DEF but that would mean sacrificing either one of those 7 fwds.

    A] Sterling --> Hendo & Naylor/Wilson --> Baines 0.5 ITB
    B] Aguero --> Welbz & Naylor/Wilson --> Baines 2.6 ITB
    C] Pelle --> Naismith & Naylor/Wilson --> Baines 0.4 ITB
    D] Fab --> Chadli & Naylor/Wilson --> Baines 1.0 ITB

    Thanks guys

    Week 8:
    Dzeko has Tottenham (H)
    Welbeck has Hull (H)
    Pelle has Sunderland (H)

    Week 9:
    Dzeko has West ham (A)
    Welbeck has Sunderland (A)
    Pelle has Stoke (H)

Which two have the best fixtures each week? Who do you think will score?

Go without Baines imo, consider Kaboul in for one of your Southampton defenders after next two weeks. Ditch Fab if your desperate for him

If you're out there and you're thinking "why does everyone love Welbeck so much all of a sudden?", you're not alone.
