Our Suspension Tightrope only kicked back into action last week but we’ve already seen a couple of players topple off after Gameweek 7 came to an end. Both Calum Chambers and Jonjo Shelvey went into the weekend with four yellows accrued and the pair were culpable yet again, earning their fifth domestic cautions to automatically trigger a one-match ban.

In an ill-tempered affair at Stamford Bridge, Chambers was a little fortunate not to receive his marching orders after Martin Atkinson chose not to dish out a second yellow for a foul on Andre Schurrle. Indeed, although the whistler booked seven players in the 2-0 win, the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Gary Cahill and Danny Welbeck were also shown a little leniency, and received a caution when a dismissal could just as easily have been the outcome. Welbeck owners will particularly be relieved after his wild lunge on Cesc Fabregas was only deemed worthy of a yellow.

Chambers – who has now been booked six times in just eight appearances for the Gunners – misses the Gameweek 8 home encounter against Hull but will return in time for the following week’s trip to Sunderland.

Shelvey will skip the Swans’ trip to Stoke next time around before coming back into contention for the Gameweek 9 home clash against Leicester. Team-mate Angel Rangel is available now, though, after serving his own one-match suspension against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

The duo join Wayne Rooney on the sidelines, then, as the United skipper serves the second of a three-match suspension away to West Brom. Rooney also misses a home match with Chelsea before being available in time for the Gameweek 10 Manchester derby at the Etihad.

Back to the Tightrope and Chambers’ team-mate Jack Wilshere is now the only player currently sitting with four cautions to his name. Just below him, though, are band of 10 players which include a trio of big-hitting Fantasy prospects, in the form of Diego Costa, Yaya Toure and Graziano Pelle.

Apart from Costa, Fab and Sterling where te feck have you spent your money?

Tadic, Boyd, Baines, Moore, Begovic, McCarthy, Moreno, Dzeko and Pelle all need to go.

        Bit OTT, in my opinion...

Boyd, Moore and McCarthy aren't priorities to get rid of - they're cheap bench fodder.
Pelle and Baines are players that lots of people are looking to transfer IN because they have great upcoming fixtures and reasonable form.

Tadic hasn't shone yet to be fair, and Moreno and Dzeko are debateable. I would spunk most of the 3m on upgrading one of the attacking players to a big hitter. Tadic to ADM?

You need a keeper to rotate with Begovic
Moreno has proved to be a bad pick, sadly. Baines may not provide many clean sheets.
Your midfield is fine if you like Fabregas
Dzeko needs to make way for someone like Welbeck

"Tadic, Boyd, Baines, Moore, Begovic, McCarthy, Moreno, Dzeko and Pelle all need to go."

        I'd disagree with this...

Baines could do well with upcoming fixtures (i'm WCing him in)
        Pelle is a solid pick
Moore is decent bench warmer and wastes no budget
Bego - decent keeper. Proven in FPL

        The rest can go

Some of the comment on this ..well..

With your FT I'd probably look to either upgrade Dzeko or Tadic. That should be fine for this week in all honesty.

Baines has Villa, and plays like a mid
Moreno has QPR, I'd keep for this week and maybe look to downgrade to someone a bit cheaper after

Tadic does look good but if you can I'd try and get ADM in instead, you have Pelle and Clyne to cover Saints.
Dzeko - burns us all. Can you upgrade? Welbeck or Sturridge maybe? Falcao if you believe the hype his goals come in gluts..

Think you only really need to use your FT this week.

thanks mate, really appreciate your input.

Yeah, at the moment I'm thinking 'give Tadic 2 more GWs' as he has Sunderland and Stoke at home and I just think I've had him from the start, I'm sure he's going to burn me if I get rid of him. If he doesn't get much from the next 2, then definitely sell.

I think you're right to pinpoint Dzeko, that's the move I'm leaning towards. I've narrowed it down to Welbeck and Sturridge, I'm leaning more in favour of Welbeck simply because I have no Arsenal cover for their great fixtures but I can definitely see Sturridge exploding so it's a very tough call. Hopefully things become clearer after the internationals.

Yeah, Baines is really tempting despite the penalty miss and EVE lack of CS. But to lose a CHE defender? That's another issue.

Welbeck to Pelle is a sideways move. I'm thinking a foward line of Costa, Aguero and/or Welbeck or Pelle.

Terry to Baines? This is a hard one and a challenge I have to face to. My opinion is that CHS will keep far more cs than EVR. However, such is the fixtures, Baines looks v likely to score well.

ADM looks a necessity but for Tadic not Hazard.

        good thoughts.

Did Ram/Roo -> Tadic/Kun previously. Really torn to go Kun or ADM way that day - only can choose 1 of them. No way i can get ADM AND Kun now - unless I go Pelle -> Berahino to fund it 🙁

Just not sure Wally will be thrown into a game every three or four days for at least a month after his return...so a risky pick until then...Ramsey of course is gonna be a bargain....Caz is too risky with Ox, Sanchez, Wally, Ozil and co all interchangeable and all playing well....It jus looks like FPL heartache tbh Doosra...

They could be disclosing something similar to totalfpl on their site, nonsense that we have to guess and make transfers sometimes unnecessarily early before international games to avoid being priced out.

100% agree....If they did it they would increase the daily traffic on their site massively..

I've no idea why they want it secret or what purpose it serves. The choice is clear when it is transparent....invest for the second half of the season and try to stay in the game or play conservatively...it should all be part of "playing the game"

This secrecy stuff smacks of an idea somebody once had that actually holds no water now but nobody has realised it...and it just carries on...

Here's food for thought. If your 6.0 striker scores 12-15 goals, he will prove excellent value.

This means he will BLANK in 23-26 games. Yes, MOST GAMES... and he will still be great value.

PLEASE, people, STOP KNEEJERKING based on 1-2 blanks! A blank or 2 at this price is par for the course. Concentrate your energy on your more expensive players or the ones who are injured/ dropped.

This is a very good point.

Though if you can play smart you can have 25 games covered with goals by making good transfers based on fixtures. EG: Why have Ulloa for United, Chelsea and City when you could have Naismith or someone with 3 easy fixtures. This is an example only.

I also don't need to be reminded that Ulloa has scored against top opposition. I'm just saying you don't need to keep hold of players for blank streaks when 1 FT can bring additional points. 😀

the cheaper defenders are doing fine as it is.

and ivan actually has some cs potential, unlike baines.

Which cheap defences are worth investing in atm?

Besides Southampton, and they're not really cheap, there's not a lot shouting out for investment.

it's not the fact that there are outstanding cheap options, it's that the expensive options have terrible cs potential aswell.

Chelsea and City are looking good imo. And Baines' attacking returns this season would be enough to consider him if he were a mid.

i don't think baines scores enough for 7.0, just my imo.

e.g chadli, siggy, downing, dyer, hendo all started at 5.5-6.0 and are outscoring him.

After the blank, Chambers is surely worth 4.5. Apart from that, I can't think of many cheapies I'd be happy to play every week. I'd prefer going for the likes of Chelsea, Baines, or southampton

The flip side is its the place to look for steady consistent points, which Baines is every year. I don't even need to debate his FPL qualities they are plain to see. Those who can will get him, those who can't tend to justify not getting him when really deep down they want it.

You can differentiate on five spots at the minute in my opinion Baines is an grade A* differential to have in those five spots.

Well, the problem as I see it, is that Everton will get few clean sheets this year.

The beauty of Ivanovic and/or Kolarov is that Chelski and Citeh will, most certainly.

They were held together last year by the old Moyse habits. Those have now irrevocably gone.

It's more the fragility he brings into your side. Forces you to use transfers you otherwise wouldn't have to if you do get a couple of injuries.

The clean sheets aren't the main thing with him though...

Over the last 4 seasons he has averaged just shy of 5 goals and 6 assists per season. Throw in a fairly conservative 6 clean sheets and that's 72 points, without appearances or bonus. That's the equivalent of 18 goals from a striker for 7m. Or 12 goals and 8 assists, if you prefer. Tell me you wouldn't take that from Welbeck... Or even a more expensive Pelle.

Just looking for some reassurances that Wilson > Baines to give the below is a good move.

Everton have good fixtures, but so do Arsenal and I'm not used to owning more than one big priced defender. So it's either Baines and 0.1m cash or Arsenal defender and 0.6m-1.6m. Advice?

    Lloris

    Bertrand Kompany Baines

    Fabregas ADM Sterling Siggy

    Costa Pelle Welbeck

    Subs: Krul Naylor Wisdom Cork

It looks good with Baines in it doesn't it! He has a good run as well so I can put him in and forget about him for 5-6 weeks. Im not even considering Rooney back in untill after City which is 3 fixtures away so if I did need to downgrade i'll be getting some good Value from Baines until then.

A lot of discussion last night about whether analysing stats is useful for FPL. I think the most important thing about analysing stats is knowing how to use the data. With a bit of football knowledge and nouse, you can really use stats to analyse PAST performances and draw conclusions as to how that player might score in FPL if that level of performance continues.

One feature of the members area that I am really enjoying using this year is the comparison tool. Being able to see player "maps" showing where there shots came from is really useful in determining the quality of the chances.

I've had a look back and while RCA's tone is a little earthy the point he makes is valid and prompted a great debate about how we make our transfers. He could quite easily have been referring to me - as I love a good stats table.

I think if I'd have been around in the early hours I'd have hulked too. I certainly enjoyed reading through it this morning. I think RCA's point was one that we've seen many times that he likes to transfer based on gut rather than stats. But as is pointed out the other side got their view across really well. Tom F won FPL last year and religiously consulted members stats.

This provides a nice build up to this morning's forthcoming hot topic...keep em peeled.

I don't think that his point was at all valid. Sorry.

I am also really shocked that you would have hulked that.

Still, as I say above ...

    Mannone
    Baines - Bertrand - Wisdom
    Fabregas - Sterling - ADM - Siggy
    Costa - Aguero - Sakho

Bench: Hamer - Moore - Barley - Boyd

    Alternatively:

Baines for me. Naismith has good fixtures and should be doing well, only risk is some rotation due to Europe, anyway Baines to Bruce is much more of an upgrade than Naismith to Pelle imo

    Courtois, Elliot
    Clyne, Moreno, Wilson, Duff, Moore
Sterling, Fabregas, di Maria, Siggurdson, Boyd
    Aguero, Diego Costa, Welbeck

A Wednesday morning over an international break is probably a good time to get some feedback from the hardcore FFS users.

In terms of background information I have a 5 season average of a Top 10 finish, as of now I have slipped to nearly 900k position and am losing hope of finding a way back. Current team below.

    Begovic // Myhill
    Terry // Moore // Naylor // Lovren // Chester
    Hazard // Siggy // Sterling // Tadic // Ramsey
    Costa) // Welbeck // Ulloa

Having lost value on Ramsey I knee jerked Sunday with Ramsey & Terry ----> ADM & Bertrand (-4)

I guess what im asking is that "is a WC the state of play here"??

and if so what t7ype of players would one be looking at..
In my leagues im 60-70 behind leaders which iS definately manageable over the season.. Just cant fall any further behind..
