A pair of assists and two bonus points in Swansea’s home draw with Newcastle elevated Gylfi Sigurdsson to the top of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game at the end of Gameweek 7. With 46 points accrued, the Icelandic international is second only to Diego Costa overall and, having started the season at just 6.0, he’s now climbed in cost to 6.8 – his rise in price of 0.8 is greater than any other player so far.

Averaging 6.6 points per appearance under Garry Monk, Sigurdsson has been snapped up by over 44% of FPL managers as he seamlessly settles back into life at the Liberty. Indeed, Sigurdsson’s Fantasy exploits have so far exceeded his displays from 2011/2, where, under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, he served up seven goals, five assists and 11 bonus points in 18 appearances – averaging 5.7 points per match.

As the transfers in continue to pick up pace over the international break, we compare his displays over the two periods to assess his impact since returning to Wales.

      Indeed. Though I would have rather liked to see him compared to the other popular choices in his price bracket such as Downing, Chadli, Mane opposed to what he did 4 years ago which I find sort of useless as we are looking at what his production is this year compared to other players THIS year not what he did several years back.

              I never mentioned anyone by name and FWIW it wasn't about him. There were 2 posters in the lead up to GW7 that absolutely bugged the shtt out of me with stats tables about two particular players.
              I didn't name them then, and won't know. It's unfortunate that Doos got tetchy about something that had nothing to do with him.

                  No prob, I know you weren't. It's just unfortunate that he assumed it was him and then posted it on the boards, even discussing it with mods describing it as an "attack" when it wasn't even him that I was talking about.
                  I even apologised right at the end of the thread because it was out of order on my part to pull the rank thing.
                  Also very valid points were made by people in other time zones about how they couldn't get to see as many games as us in UK/ Ire. I felt bad about that too.

          Interesting I like watching, I like stats too thou.

          But I play the game my way and that's premium in-form players matched with playing the fixtures.

          I like a form pick like Pellè. I make my own tables that I don't post but I completely take your point. There's no data for the fact every Mirallas shot from outside the box goes into row Z.

          That's where interpretation is key really.

            Yep, interpretation is everything. A touch in the box for someone like Crouch for example can be completely meaningless if he is chesting down a big hoof while waiting for support from midfield that never materialises.
            Just an example, but if someone posts a table with Crouch in the top 3 for stirker touches in the box, I would much rather have watched Stoke games to know the real meaning.
