After scaling the heights of fifth place in their first season under Roberto Martinez, Everton have so far failed to find their form. The Toffees sit in seventeenth spot – just two points off the basement – but are poised for an excellent upcoming schedule which many expect will enable them to quickly climb back up the table.

Understandably, Fantasy managers are eyeing up Leighton Baines ahead of a run which pits the Merseysiders against just three of last season’s top eight in the forthcoming 13 Gameweeks. Given that the Toffees have managed just a single clean sheet so far, though, defensive returns may be hard to come by unless they can tighten up considerably.

With team-mate Seamus Coleman looking poised for an imminent return to action, we analyse the pair’s displays so far and compare them to the performances which harvested 169 and 180 points respectively in the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Can you guys help me with this please? A, B, C or D? Will happily help anyone who replies with their problems.

A: Forster, Mangala, Moses, Krancjar, Berahino
B: Mannone, Mangala, Siggy, Wanyama, Berahino
C: Forster, Wisdom, Moses, Wanyama, Pelle
D: Mannone, Taylor, Moses, Wanyama, Pelle

    Thanks very much!

Is this for FPL? Only asking cos you could find more reliable options [in terms of points] than Wanyama & Krancjar.

Yep, this if for FPL. Are there any players you would recommend in Krancjar's and Wanyama's price range? Thanks

          Um... Ki[Swansea], Rodwell[Sunderland], Dorrans[WBA] --5M
I am a bit stumped when it comes to MIDs below 4.5M but I remember Boyd[Burnley] being mentioned on here. Obertan[NEW] could also be worth a short-term punt.

Am guessing you won't be playing your 4.5M midfielder regularly right? So he's to be a decent bench option.

            Thanks a lot man.

Well with A, Krancjar would be the sub and with any option with Wanyama/Boyd/Obertan, they would be the sub.

Personally, I think Krancjar is likely to outscore Rodwell, Ki and Dorrans, but I appreciate your suggestions.

Foster & Myhill aren't great but they're probably the best bet if you want to go with a 4.5/4.0 split atm.

The only other options are Krul (in an awful team and possibly injured) or Mannone (poor fixtures and no 4.0 back up).

But then that leaves me short so even if I downgraded Moreno next GW I wouldn't be able to afford Aguero.

Admittedly Tadic is not playing particularly well at the moment, but I'm giving him one more week. Personally, and this may turn out to be a ridiculous statement, I think ADM is deceiving everybody at the moment. He is an absolutely fantastic player, but I don't think he will actually score that many goals in the long term. If you look at his goalscoring record, it is not actually that good. Ok he has done well at home to QPR and Everton, and had a decent game at Leicester, but l think his form will calm down.

Is he going to do the business on a cold day in Stoke?

        Very true.

I could do Fabregas to Walcott, but I want to see Walcott play 90 mins before doing this. If Walcott doesn't look like the player that he used to be, then I might downgrade Fabregas to Chadli and get in Welbeck and Forster.

I agree that Arsenal and Saints players are badly needed over the coming weeks - thanks for the input.

Krul > Guzan or Manone. Guzan has the fixtures, but Manones big hauls came against the bigger sides last season - and they're defensively quiet sound.

If you want to keep Mannone until January then the fixtures really are bad though. Arsenal, Everton, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, City again, Liverpool again and Tottenham. He'd need to be damn good with those sort of games coming...

Naismith is my biggest concern at the moment. The only way I can get a substantial upgrade on him is to downgrade Fabregas. I want to keep Fabregas for now whilst I assess walcott, as fab- walcott is on my radar.

    Any advice?

    Szczesny / (Schmeichel)
    Ivanovic / Baines / Nailor / (Chambers / Hutton)
Di Maria / Fabregas / Sterling / Siggy / (JWP)
    Costa / Welbeck / Ulloa

If I had your team, I would make the following plan fof the next few weeks...

      1. If going with both baines and ivan, I would downgrade the rest of defence to 3 x 4.0s and rotate three of them.

      2. Downgrade JWP to Boyd.

      3. Downgrade Sczcesny to Forster

      4. Use the money saved in points 1 to 3 above to upgrade ulloa.

How come it took them so long to realize that staggering all the qualifiers over a longer period was a great idea?
And it is a great idea.
Saying that, I had never thought of it before. Is it the first time it's been done? Was it the much maligned Platini's idea?

Different but could lead to a good differential if it pays off! I agree Hazard > Fabregas over coming weeks as he's coming into form and much bigger goal threat than Fab. Id also say Downing > Diame die to fixtures. If you can do a less drastic downgrade I'd say it could really pay off 🙂

Chadli is the only one i didnt play and is more worth than my benched 4 m defenders. But was also thinking playing him and getting rid if sterling. That might then allow me also to upgrade defence

I'm going with Aguero. Did it last week and it nearly was a lovely leg up on the Costa captainers.
With so many teams looking similar it's nice to "gamble" on an Aguero captaincy.
Many don't agree with gambling with the armband but I've never believed in that. It's one of the most fun elements of the game, imo.

I can see why though. I'm in top 10k (just). And last week 52% of top 10k captained Costa.
I hate playing it safe though and Aguero looked just to tempting, only 12% went with him. I'd imagine it will be similar figures this week.

    whats worst?

    a) not bringing in a player because you think they are crap and then having them go on to score big

    b) saying to hell with it, bringing them in, and then having them blank just as you thought they would whilst the player you dropped gets more points

this is how i feel about ulloa > lolbeck this weekend

well its not like i think ulloa is any better as i've only seen him play once, i mostly picked him up during my wildcard to make some money on him. as a united fan i've watched danny for a long time and he has just never really shown any consistency and has always seemed rather awkward. dont get me wrong, even though he plays for the hated gooners now i still would love to see a top class striker playing for england, i just dont see it in danny.

I felt that way about Sturridge when Liverpool signed him. He never impressed me at Chelsea.
Welbeck, like Sturridge has gotten himself a big move and is still young and will be out to prove himself and his doubters wrong. He definitely has talent... We will just have to see how it turns out for him.

Fair enough, as do I. King of vegetables behind the potato which is in a category of its own. 🙂

Indeed. I have about a dozen different ways of doing potatoes. 🙂

Please RMT - Draft team, out of 10. Any comments appreciated.

20 team 11-round draft, and this is the team I ended up with - 7 players play per week (1gk, 2-4defs, 1-3mids, 0-2fwd's)

    Forster
    Clyne Moreno Manquillo O'shea
    Gerrard Ramsey Coutinho Cabella Navas
    Balotelli

    Begovic,Schmeichel
    Wisdom,Chester,Shawcross,Moreno,Ivan

0.6 ITB, 2FT. Looking at getting Baines in by dropping Begovic to Hamer and getting rid of either Moreno or Shawcross ...But which one?

Seems a bitof a waste of two free transfers given this weeks fixtures.
Stokes fixtures do take a turn for the worst soon though

I know Stoke at home, but haven't been convincing apart from the Man City game. Liverpool with QPR and good fixtures, but looking like Toure will play which spells disaster for a clean sheet in my view. Might just do Hamer, i want the extra money 🙂
