Don’t get us wrong – we’re not labelling this latest droning session as “essential” listening. However, there’s no getting away from the fact that the concept of essential players has dominated the airwaves at Scout towers over the past week.

In this latest episode, Granville and I take on this meaty subject, whilst chewing over the importance of ownership and spit out the semblance of an opinion on both. Around that main course, we take on the usual bevvy of regulars with the usual haphazard panache.

Essential? Not quite, not even on a rainy Thursday night.

Grab this crucial slice of audio via this link or explore this necessary noise via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A) Fabregas + Sterling + Chambers

    B) Hazard + Tadic + Rose

      Safe is A
But B would be awesome ..explosive ..and higher points in long run ...

Mane maybe over tadic if u think as he's more selfish

Would then allow me to upgrade Azpi to Ivanovic also. Interesting.

      Krul (Begovic)
Azpi - Clyne - Lovren (Rose - Wisdom)
Siggy - Fabregas - Di Maria - Sterling (Marney)
      Costa - Falcao - Ulloa

      Good to go or?

      Falcao + Lovren = Baines + Pelle ?

      I have 2 FT

Team at the moment for GW8 (£2.0m in the BANK, 2 free transfers):

    Begovic
    Clyne Moreno C.Dawson
    Fabregas Di Maria Sterling Sigurdsson
    Pelle Balotelli Costa

Subs - McCarthy, Taylor, Boyd, Moore

    Best option for this week?
    a) Balotelli & Moreno > Aguero & Coloccini
    b) Balotelli & Moreno > Welbeck & Baines
    c) Balotelli, Moreno & Fabregas > Aguero, Baines & Mane/Chadli (-4 points)

Hey Walsh, do you still not intend to get Costa? Call me crazy, but I'm considering selling him and joining your no Costa club 😀

            • 12 Years

No intentions of bringing him in right now and I don't really see a point if I'm honest.b While Aguero is fit I'd always want to captain him anyway. Quite happy with my Chelsea double defense and their pen taker instead. You should sell him, it's more fun anyway playing with 11 guys instead of 10 like everyone else! How ya been, mate?

            1. Smarty Pants

Two wildcard teams that I really like:

              A. Howard
              Baines Ivan Clyne (Wisdom) (Hutton)
              AdM Siggy Sterling Chadli (Boyd)
              Aguero Welbeck Pelle

              B. Howard
              Baines Ivan Clyne Bertrand (Hutton)
              AdM Siggy Chadli (Dorrans) (Boyd)
              Aguero Costa Welbeck

To sum up, I need to downgrade one of Sterling or Costa if I want to get both Baines and Ivan in defense (and I really do). Thinking that it's Costa who should go because:
              - Chelsea have two tough away games in th next 4 where Costa is more likely to get sent off than to score a lot 😉
              - I'll want Walcott soon, Sterling can be easily transformed into him (most likely in 2-3 gameweeks)
              - I don't like Costa 😀

Not a huge fan of the 433 simply because I like rooting my players on for goals more than for clean sheets and that formation gives one less attacker..but that is just my bit of sillyness. If you are going to plump for an expensive keeper I would rather have Courtois than Howard if you can find an extra .5 someplace. I like B more, for what it's worth, but both look solid!

                1. Smarty Pants
                  • 15 Years
                  11 years, 2 months ago

Interesting idea with Courtois, but I don't want to lose one Chelsea spot for their goalkeeper, may want to have three of Ivan, Costa, Fabs, Haz, Azpi some time soon, but it will be impossible if I get Courtois. I think that Howard and Lloris are the best options, but Lloris is an injury doubt, slightly more expensive and has slightly less appealing fixtures, so I guess it has to be Howard.

                A. team looks better, but having howard in the goal is not convincing me. They have cs 1x... having mannone/foster is a smarter move but else nice team but dont you think you need chelsea attack like fab or haz

Aguero. Didn't City hammer Spurs last year at the Ethihad? Aguero is set for a big haul if you ask me. Spurs play well when they're in control but against any attacking team who puts them under pressure they fall apart. If City score 1 they'll probably score 4 before 90 mins imo.

My vote, for what it's worth, goes for Bertrand if you are unwilling to plump for Azpil. Only guy I see in that range with a realistic shot at cleans without a poor fixture in the next handful.

Don't want to double up on defence. And it's not that I'm not willing to spend the extra on Azpi. But Chelsea have tough couple of fixtures coming up and haven't been very tight at the back

Me neither. I am getting twitchy with Sterling as I can see him getting rested and am going to be very frustrated when he comes on for cameos which I can see happening more than once in the upcoming gameweeks but I think the benefit of holding him and his explosiveness outweighs the prospect of selling him...although I am already bracing myself at seeing him on the bench at QPR.

Morning gents. Looking at the mid-priced mids was thinking about getting Chadli but his injury concern and the fact theyre playing City has led me to look elsewhere. Who would you recommend and why?

    1. Walsh
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 2 months ago

Same boat there, bud. I have moved my eye over to Downing. Although he's not having a ton of pops at goal in the box his stats otherwise are very good and at his price he seems a great bargain. Moving back to the tip of the diamond should do nicely for him, although he does have that poor City fixture in two gameweeks time. Would rather have him over Hendo who I still see as being too inconsistent who was the other player I was considering in that price bracket. Can't quite stretch to Mane and half expect him to be rested this weekend after his full 90 for Senefail the other day.

Chadli is the best long term option, or Mane if you can afford him. Downing probably best cheaper option.

Interesting. Also dammit I seem to be 0.1 short on getting him this week lol typical eh? Think I may go Bellerin on a cheeky one week punt, then get Baines and Chadli in next week.

Not the worst idea although I don't like one week punts and don't think Arsenal will actually keep a cleanie this week with all their injuries.

Arsenals back line concerns me a bit alright but in the 4.5 range there isn't much. And it is still Arsenal at home. Would prefer Bellerin and Fabregas to Baines and Chadli this week I think.

Been agonizing more than usual over this weeks transfers and could use some different perspectives.

1: Keep Coleman (probably won't play, Hutton off the bench for him) Sterling and Zaha out for Tadic and Downing
2: Coleman and Zaha out for Zabaleta and Downing
3: Coleman, Sterling, Zaha out Bertrand, Eriksen, Tadic in for -4

Leaning towards conservative option 2...really trying to avoid hits this year but option 3 looks really good...thanks guys for help!

Are you sure that Zaba won't be rested for Sagna from time to time (say, for their easiest fixtures)? If there is some assurance that I'm not aware of then this option is good too, but personally I wouldn't touch Zaba because I'll always be nervous that he might not start.

IDK I'm not too worried about that. He seems to always play under Pelle when fit...though I guess it isn't inconceivable to think him getting a break from time to time especially since they don't have a walk in the park for UCL group games right now and need to win those when they would have probably been ideal games for Sagna to play...thanks for adding more doubts in my head SP!

If I hold this game week, I have 2 FT next round and can find the money to upgrade to Aguero.
