Carlos Tevez takes a break. Cesc Fabregas is fit and may feature in Arsenal’s weekend friendly. Steve Kean finally signs a striker, though may see his skipper depart for North London. Alan Pardew is determined to freeze out Joey Barton and Joe Cole’s name blinks on the QPR radar. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

The Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona saga drags on this morning. The midfielder has now recovered from his hamstring injury and for the past two days has trained with the Arsenal first-team ahead of Saturday evening’s friendly against Sporting Lisbon. The Gunners are reportedly preparing two first-team photographs ahead of next season- one with their skipper and one without. Fabregas is even willing to take a pay cut to ensure the move goes through but the stumbling block remains a £5m difference in each club’s valuation of the player.

Carlos Tevez is the other big name in the news this morning. City have reportedly extended their skipper’s vacation, allowing him to miss Sunday’s Community Shield clash with United. Tevez’s future remains in the balance, then, and, despite his obvious appeal in Fantasy terms, the City striker will have been crossed off many a pre-season watchlist. He now seems unlikely to begin the season in the City starting line-up when Swansea turn up at Eastlands next weekend

Chris Samba’s Blackburn future is again in doubt as the latest reports suggest Spurs have moved to the front of the queue for his services. A £6 million fee is reportedly on the table as Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his backline. Presumably the Spurs boss has Samba lined up to partner skipper Michael Dawson, with Ledley King’s knee still preventing him from making regular Premier League appearances. Should Samba arrive at White Hart Lane, it’s safe to say that Fantasy managers may look more favourably both on Samba and the Spurs back four.

Blackburn fans can at least take some consolation that their club made their first move in the transfer market yesterday, completing a deal for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie . He is set to make his debut at Kilmarnock this weekend – a full Scout Report on the Scottish starlet will follow later today.

Norwich’s Ritchie De Laet has wasted little in settling into his new surroundings, following his loan move from Man United. The defender grabbed a goal and picked up the Man of the Match award in the Canaries 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza. At just 4.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) he’s one to definitely consider, for those Fantasy managers undecided over low-price defenders.

While Joey Barton has hinted at seeing out the final year of his contract on Tyneside, Alan Pardew has other ideas. The Newcastle boss is reportedly determined to ensure the midfielder offers no further disruption to first-team matters by forcing him to train alone until his departure. Jose Enrique has closed his twitter account amid reports the club are on the verge of banning all players from using the social media site.

Liverpool’s forgotten man Joe Cole has been offered the chance of a season-long loan deal by QPR. Cole is clearly out of the picture at Anfield and, providing Neil Warnock’s side can afford his wages, would certainly get plenty chances at Loftus Road. With a 6.0 price tag, he’s a budget-friendly FPL option, though many Fantasy managers will steer clear until the situation becomes a little clearer.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I doubt it now. Baines has said he'd step up to the plate happily, though if Arteta comes back and takes over he'd be fine with it.

But if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? He's good at set pieces.

Hmmm, I'm not convinced. From memory Saha has always been the first choice taker when available. Although him being back will give Baines more assist potential from free-kicks and corners I think (Saha is pretty good in the air), so swings and roundabouts.

    RMT please guys

    Given (Ruddy)
    Komp Clichy Enrique (Simpson Wilkinson)
    N'Zog Malouda Silva(vc) Moses (Sinclair)
    Suarez Roon(c)Holt

In DF some risks I know like doubling up on City. Wilkinson will play most games and I think Stokes DF is quite mean(sometimes). Simpson purely cos he plays and is 4.0. But if Enrique moves to Pool (R Johnson if not) my starting 3 are very strong, from decent teams and certain starters (YES even Clichy!)

My MF is my favourite part. Malouda & Silva obvious ins to Chel & Citys easy early fixtures plus are capt choices. N'Zog should do well with great fixtures too. Moses and Sinclair cheap with good scoring potential can rotate well (will of course chart their progress week by week and be ready to change).

ATT is great apart from Holt. At least he'll play, take pens and grab the odd goal. I think Roon and Suarez will be the top scorers on the game and my usual capt choices dep on who has the best fixtures.

Most importantly Ive left 0.5 to play with. It leaves options open like Clichy>Luiz/Bosingwa; Sinclair>Sess Simpson>Alcaraz or if Suarez definitely wont start the season Suarez>Carroll

I disagree on Clichy. I've said before on here I had Kolarov last season who was doing great for me until he did something to p*** off Mancini cos he was often dropped at the back end of last season in favour of RB Zabaleta. Then 1st chance he got he signed Arsenals 1st choice LB. See a pattern here?

Duno what he did wrong but it seems Kolarov is 2nd choice now

I agee with SJW, for me Clichy is NOT going first choice lb. I think it will depend on who city are playing. Kolarov might drop out for the real tough games but his attacking potential will be utilised v the weaker teams.

He did very well v inter milan in pre season (only city game I saw) and as with a lot of foreign players he could conceivably improve dramatically this season after having a season to settle in.

Not quite, AVB is a big fan of his fellow Portuguese compatriot Bosingwa, who has gotten a lot of games under his belt in pre-season! If they play 4-3-3 like he did at Porto, he will want Bosingwa's pace down the right flank!

Back four will be: Bosingwa, Tery, Ivanovic, Cole

Sub: Luiz and will prob sell Alex

        Don't entirely agree Jono

Bosingwa has seen alot of game time but is that because Alex and Luiz haven't played and Ivanovic is at centre back?

Ivanovic is a very good full back and you cant be so sure that he won't start.

Bosingwa has more pace, and almost played every game in AVB's last season their under Mourinho. I think the thinking is that he will be more effective down the right in a 4-3-3.

AVB seems to prefer Ivanovic in is more favoured central position. Luiz was very shaky in defence, great at scoring goals though...

I've been following this a lot during pre-season, I think the Portuguese factor will play a role and that he will def start the first game!

He is known for his versatility, he can play as a defensive midfeilder, centre back, centre midfeilder, diver, but is famously known for his shameless face clutching. Nope, his price will shoot up if lots of people buy him after the start of GW1 - % ownership has no bearing on price rises (it does have an effect on price falls, though).

Been toying with the idea of playing a team with only 3 game weeks in mind, then pre-planning a wildcard hit after GW3 in the inter national break. Lets face it, most do it then to jump on all the missed bandwagons and bail out on failed picks (ie. Petrov, Boselli last season)
Here's a team I came up with quickly with this mindset.

    Cech - (De Vries)
    A.Cole - Kompany - Enrique (Orr - Simpson)
    Silva - N'Zogbia - Sessegnon - Moses (Ferguson)
    Drogba - Bent - Suarez

The idea is to catch an early break on the competition. (Bench players don't matter, because they'll only be there for 3 weeks and won't be played)

Its the most sensible option really, but it should stil have some semblance of balance to it.

I think NZog and Bent is overkill for three gw's though

Lawrenson did his bext liverpool XI which was

kelly skrtel agger johnson (i think)

      lucas adam

      gerrard suarez downing

I mean it's a definite nailed on team, but he wouldn't have meireles as first choice which seems odd

What formation are you planning to use? If you are going with 3 at the back then I would downgrade Hughes or Enrique (if he stays at Newcastle).
Yaya is likely to be more defensive this year and Bale has some pretty tough fixtures. I would downgrade one of them and bring in Silva.

So, Sergio Aguero... how are people expecting him to do? I've noticed Man City's fixtures could offer him the chance to bag a lot of goals early in the season. Are we expecting him to start most games? If so I think he could bag as many as 10 goals in the first 14 games alone. Of course he could take longer to settle than I'm anticipating and he may not play every game but I think he could get of too a flying start with these fixtures.

Here are the first 14 fixtures for Man City and where I predict he could get on the scoresheet.

    Swansea (H) 2
    Bolton (A) 1
    Tottenham (A) 0
    Wigan (H) 1
    Fulham (A) 0
    Everton (H) 1
    Blackburn (A) 0
    Aston Villa (H) 1
    Man Utd (A) 0
    Wolves (H) 1
    QPR (A) 1
    Newcastle (H) 1
    Liverpool (A) 0
    Norwich (H) 1

I'm not proclaiming to be an oracle or anthing. This is just a very rough way of predicting how things will go for him if he starts those games. I know that it's highly unlikely to be accurate and he may not start all of the games, but I think it's a good idea to make these kind of predictions in order to compare the strikers you pick.

I agree one hundred per cent, but I think that shot vs Everton will hit the post and get bumbled in by Tayo Youre. So you might want to take this important factor into consideration. Still, Aguero will get the assist (though it will take one or two camera angles to be sure that he does get his toe on the low whipped in cross).

So, back to the point. My point wasn't in which particular games he would score, that was just my way of making a prediction.

I wanted to know what people's ideas are for how many of the first 14 games he will start and a prediction for how many goals he will score.

I'm guessing he'll start 12 out of the first 14 and score 8.

I think he will have to share pitch time with Balotelli and I can see him being eased in for the first month or two. I don't think he has had much of a pre-season or anything yet either so you can be sure mancini will not rush him. Look for potential game time similar to silva when he signed imo
