Monitor – Raheem Sterling

The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

    Couple of weeks ago Costa was the most essential player in this game. Suddenly people say to themselves that Hazard covers his points so Costa is not needed. Did Hazard even assist one of Costa's goals? Same people say that they are afraid of having no Arsenal cover. Lets be honest. You are afraid of not having Sanchez this week. If you just want Arsenal cover you can just go ahead and buy Wilshere or something.

      Nothing has changed about Costa being essential other than the fact a lot of idiots sold him.
      Unless he is publicily declared unfit for months, Costa should be in everyone's teams.

    Posted this last night in the DZ:
    In case people think that they should sub out Aguero to accommodate Costa based solely on the fact that Silva is out... (or having second thoughts about captaincy)

    PL games Silva missed last year:
    GWs 4-6, 11-15, 20, 26, 36

    Aguero featured in all but 2 of those games, for a total of 9 games and his stats for those games:
    6 goals and 1 assist*

    These games also included the 4-1 thrashing of United where he scored 2.

    *note this is from transfermarkt so maybe he had other FPL assists as well (non-Opta accounted for)

      Yes. When you have Arsenal and Chelsea with great home fixtures and Aguero on this form captaining a player from a mid-table team away isn't really going to work that often. Probably a bit harsh on Soton to call them midtable but I don't see them finishing in the top 6 come the end of the season.

      I like the Everton Double up in Defence, Worked really well for me last year. Team looks good otherwise too.

      Captain Ageruo or Pelle. For me Pelle is in great form at the minute. Scored two last night, and hit the bar twice last week. Think i'll be picking him.

      Genuinely not sure what Pardew will do with the CB situation. Williamson was definitely ahead in the pecking order but in his absence S. Taylor hasn't done a great deal wrong.       Moreno out sounds good - I'd consider Kaboul given the fixtures and the fact I reckon he's got a goal in him sooner or later but Spurs haven't exactly been reliable recently. If anything I'd consider going for a cheapy and having the money to upgrade elsewhere if you decide you need to - Duff perhaps?
