Our Monday regular is rolled out again this afternoon, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess those players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of Arsenal’s midweek Champions League clash with Anderlecht due to illness, Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier today.

Everton
Antolin Alcaraz is set to be sidelined for an extended period of time after he was forced off early on during the weekend goalless draw with Swansea. After the match, Roberto Martinez went on to say:

“He has damaged the joint in his shoulder. We’ll assess it but he could be out for a long spell. We’ll help Antolin all we can and try to help him back before the second half of the season.”

Hull
Centre-half Alex Bruce missed the Tigers’ 1-0 home defat at the hands of Southampton with a hamstring injury. Earlier today, Steve Bruce rolled out an update on the defender’s likely period of absence:

“Alex got injured in training on Friday, one of the last kicks of the session. It’s a hamstring but we don’t think it’s too serious. It’s probably going to be two, three or four weeks.”

Leicester
Leonardo Ulloa was utilised as a sub as the Foxes suffered their first home loss of the season against West Brom on Saturday. After the 1-0 defeat, Nigel Pearson explained his reasons for benching the Argentine:

“He had a groin problem, which we had scanned last Sunday. It was a case of not really wanting to risk him from the start today. I don’t see that as being anything negative. He was on the bench and had no problems afterwards. It wasn’t worth the risk to start him.”

Manchester City
Eliaquim Mangala missed yesterday’s Manchester derby due to a hip injury, according to reports in the local press. Aleksandar Kolarov was originally named in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting XI but picked up a problem during the warm-up and was replaced by Gael Clichy.

Manchester United
Rafael was absent from the Etihad showdown after picking up an injury in training, United’s official twitter account has confirmed.

Marcos Rojo looks set for a stint on the sidelines after being stretchered off with a shoulder injury midway through the second period. After the match, Louis van Gaal admitted:

“”His shoulder is out. We don’t know how long that will take. I have to wait until Monday. But he shall not play against Crystal Palace, I don’t think.”

Newcastle
Gabriel Obertan could be set for a spell on the sidelines after being stretchered off with a thigh injury against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. After the 1-0 win, Alan Pardew admitted he fears the worst:

“The only real big problem we had was losing Obertan which was a big blow as he’s been outstanding. It looks like he’s got a bad injury and we’re all really disappointed for him.”

Pardew also revealed he withdrew Papiss Cisse at the break as he reckoned the striker was still suffering the effects of a recent injury:

“I just felt that Papiss wasn’t moving quite normally. He has got this irritation on his knee – he thought he was OK, I slightly disagreed with him and we’ll probably still disagree on that, but only in the right possible way.”

West Brom
The Baggies left-back Sebastien Pocognoli was subbed off towards the ends of the weekend win at Leicester through injury.

West Ham
Winston Reid was forced off early with a thigh problem during the weekend draw at Stoke, though Sam Allardyce confirmed post-match that the injury “wasn’t too serious”.

Personally thinking of this exact move. I think Austin can bag a goal against City, after that his fixtures are good also. If I was to guess I would say that Welbeck and Siggy would return around 10 points this weekend between them (also they play each other so less likely to both get BPS), I think ADM will outscore both on his own, so a 4 point hit offset by Austin 2pts for playing then any attacking points puts you in positive territory.

With their recent defensive resolve and form I don't see Williamson getting back in unless there is a loss of form or injury for Saylor/Collocini.

I saw a post earlier about how Wenger eased Pires back in after a cruciate injury. Which is now putting me off Walcott as he hasn't even started a game yet.

I think I might hold out with Sterling and then swap to Silva who should be back after international break right?

I like it, says he needs games and hard training.

        I haven't taken a hit all season and I don't want to.

But if I don't this week then I won't get Walcott as Sterling has CPL next and Walcott has MUN.

Yeh I see your point I just got fed up with Sterling I mean he was playing as RWB this weekend. I don't mind if Wally only get 30mins this week.....he looked electric when he came on against Burnley, I would have him over Sanchez, much better value. Still don't think that he's the real deal, his price is too high, 10.6 now and as far as I can see he's no Gareth Bale. His last four goals have been from defensive errors....

    On WC for UCL

    Moya - Fabiano
Alaba - Donati - Raggi - Fillipe Luis - Rakitskiy
    Fabs - Gotze - Koke - Xhaka - Bramhi
    Ronaldo - Messi - Adriano

What you reckon? Any major errors?

Ok. I have planned these moves since GW1, usually I don't just give out but hey.
I had a big discussion with Doosra before I got in Pelle on the difficulty of getting rid if he did well but I swore I would. First move Pelle to Bony. I did Tadic to Downing last week.
Defender wise, I'll let you figure that one out but here's a clue, I'll be getting Siggy back in GW 13.

    Moreno > Baines
    Tadic > Downing

Very awkward price point, no stand out options. Jedinak at 5.1 but won;t get penalties every week and will only score 2pts otherwise. I would go for Mason.

if you can squeeze out a bit more money there are loads of options at 5.4 and above. Who is your current fourth mid?

I'm taking out sterling and siggy to bring in ADM , other mids are Sanchez and Chadli, leaves me 5.2 to play with.

This move would mean I would have the following big boys ; Sanchez, ADM, Aguero, Costa, Pelle , Baines.

Can't go lower than Downing on a 4th mid or else it's a punt

    Alright boys, thoughts?

    --------------------------Forster------------------------- (Gilks)

    -------------Clyne--Naylor--Jagielka---------------- (Moore, Dummett)

    ---Sterling--Sigurdsson--Fabregas--Di Maria--- (Wanyama)

    -------------Costa--Aguero--Welbeck---------------

    2FT 0.7 ITB

    OUT/IN
    Welbeck/Pelle
    Di Maria/Sanchez
    Sterling/Downing
    Wanyama/ 6.0??

Any thoughts on whether the above transfers are good for a -8 hit? Looking at Diame to make up the final place. Would love to get a Southampton midfield in there, but can't as I have Forster in goal. Hence the need to get rid of Wanyama to allow Pelle in.

    Any input would be appreciated!

1FT with 0.9 in the bank. Thinking of doing Zaha > Downing, and then bench Siggy for these two hard fixtures coming up. Thoughts?

    Foster
    Chambers - Duff - Clyne
Fabregas - Hazard - Sigurdsson - Di Maria
    Aguero - Pelle - Naismith

    Krul - Zaha - Wilson - Taylor

4 players need to get rid of who to focus on first

    Moore (dropped last game)
    Hutton (injured)
    Eriksen (played 45 mins)
Sigg (fixures looks like will drop this week)

I think there is more to gain points wise in shipping Eriksen to Downing or whoever

I can't see him getting anything vs Chelsea and by international finish god knows what he will be price wise, if you're getting rid I'd say ship sooner rather than later

Anybody managed to afford Baines, ADM, Sanchez, Haz/Fab, Aguero and Costa all in their team?

    1. Baggers

Possible if you have Sakho/Berahino and cheapish defense

Repost...but no idea what to do!

    Forster, Mannone
Baines, Bertrand, L Moore, Wisdom, Duff
    ADM, Fab, Siggy, Tadic, Sterling
    Costa, Ulloa, Welbeck

    2FT, 0.6 itb

    a) Siggy/Sterling -> Sanchez/Boyd
    b) Ulloa -> anyone
    c) something else?

    1. The EJJ
      • 14 Years

Do A + Ulloa -> Sakho for a -4. At least I'd be tempted to do that

    Begovic McCarthy
    Baines Moreno Clyne Naylor Moore
    Hazard Fabregas Tadic Siggy Boyd
    Aguero Welbeck Pelle

Do I get rid of Haz or Fab to bring in Sanchez/ADM or look elsewhere? Such a tough call.

I need to start freeing up cash in my team, and downgrading one of Wisdom / Duff will earn me .2

Who and who too though, Steven Taylor or Yun?

Duff for sure, to either (depends on your other defenders and their rotation)

haha - I know, earns me .2 they will prob never play, but who's likey to get more game time Yun or ST do you think?

        1. Gravless wonder
          • 14 Years
          11 years, 1 month ago

Not sure. Pardew seems to love Williamson, but form has improved with STaylor. Yun playing well but you never know with Harry 'down to the bare bones' Redknapp

            11 years, 1 month ago

If you have to then get Saylor

I wanna know why you are dying for this .2 though. And cheapies are the only ones you found to downgrade to ultra cheapies?
