Our Monday regular is rolled out again this afternoon, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess those players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of Arsenal’s midweek Champions League clash with Anderlecht due to illness, Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier today.

Everton
Antolin Alcaraz is set to be sidelined for an extended period of time after he was forced off early on during the weekend goalless draw with Swansea. After the match, Roberto Martinez went on to say:

“He has damaged the joint in his shoulder. We’ll assess it but he could be out for a long spell. We’ll help Antolin all we can and try to help him back before the second half of the season.”

Hull
Centre-half Alex Bruce missed the Tigers’ 1-0 home defat at the hands of Southampton with a hamstring injury. Earlier today, Steve Bruce rolled out an update on the defender’s likely period of absence:

“Alex got injured in training on Friday, one of the last kicks of the session. It’s a hamstring but we don’t think it’s too serious. It’s probably going to be two, three or four weeks.”

Leicester
Leonardo Ulloa was utilised as a sub as the Foxes suffered their first home loss of the season against West Brom on Saturday. After the 1-0 defeat, Nigel Pearson explained his reasons for benching the Argentine:

“He had a groin problem, which we had scanned last Sunday. It was a case of not really wanting to risk him from the start today. I don’t see that as being anything negative. He was on the bench and had no problems afterwards. It wasn’t worth the risk to start him.”

Manchester City
Eliaquim Mangala missed yesterday’s Manchester derby due to a hip injury, according to reports in the local press. Aleksandar Kolarov was originally named in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting XI but picked up a problem during the warm-up and was replaced by Gael Clichy.

Manchester United
Rafael was absent from the Etihad showdown after picking up an injury in training, United’s official twitter account has confirmed.

Marcos Rojo looks set for a stint on the sidelines after being stretchered off with a shoulder injury midway through the second period. After the match, Louis van Gaal admitted:

“”His shoulder is out. We don’t know how long that will take. I have to wait until Monday. But he shall not play against Crystal Palace, I don’t think.”

Newcastle
Gabriel Obertan could be set for a spell on the sidelines after being stretchered off with a thigh injury against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. After the 1-0 win, Alan Pardew admitted he fears the worst:

“The only real big problem we had was losing Obertan which was a big blow as he’s been outstanding. It looks like he’s got a bad injury and we’re all really disappointed for him.”

Pardew also revealed he withdrew Papiss Cisse at the break as he reckoned the striker was still suffering the effects of a recent injury:

“I just felt that Papiss wasn’t moving quite normally. He has got this irritation on his knee – he thought he was OK, I slightly disagreed with him and we’ll probably still disagree on that, but only in the right possible way.”

West Brom
The Baggies left-back Sebastien Pocognoli was subbed off towards the ends of the weekend win at Leicester through injury.

West Ham
Winston Reid was forced off early with a thigh problem during the weekend draw at Stoke, though Sam Allardyce confirmed post-match that the injury “wasn’t too serious”.

1FT with 0.9 in the bank. Thinking of doing Zaha > Downing, and then bench Siggy for these two hard fixtures coming up. Alternatively, I can upgrade Naismith to Berahino. Thoughts?

    Foster
    Chambers - Duff - Clyne
Fabregas - Hazard - Sigurdsson - Di Maria
    Aguero - Pelle - Naismith

    Krul - Zaha - Wilson - Taylor

both are really good transfers, i'd prob take downing based on easier fixtures. How long you holding Fab and Hazard? Not seen many teams with both

Yeah, I couldn't choose between them so just went for both. It's kinda risky but worked out well so far, but I'll probably drop one of the two in the coming weeks. Fancy them against Liverpool though.

Been very busy last two weekends so havnt watched any games? Is alexis nearing essential status...i have welbeck n chambers already..

    foster
    bardsley clyne naylor chester chambers
    tadic siggy adm sterling arfield
    kun costa welbeck

    A: Sterling welbeck bardsley >> alexis + sakho/saido + 4.2m def (-4)
    B: sterling welbeck siggy >> alexis + sakho + downing (-4)

If alexis not key (wait on wally/ramsey?), then can do
C: sterling > downing and carry over FT

A and C look the best options

Injured as always, but since he came in 2 cs's out of 3 i think. Trouble is both Taylor's at Newcastle spend mlre time in rehab than on pitch

All this talk about Sanchez been an essential is madness... o.k he has scored high in hes pervious 3games however if u looked at the goals he got against Sunderland even Torres wud have scored them plus he got 93rd min goal on Sat against Burnley against better teams he will score fuk all..

That may well be true, but as it stands he has given attacking returns everytime he has played 90 mins including a goal against City.
I don't have him in my team and that scares the shite out of me.

The more I think about it, the less confident I am of not owning him... It's not like he is up against rock solid sides now, although Sunderland and Burnley are two of the worst out there. The man is pure class and will soon be out of reach for all of us non-owners (unless you're willing to rip apart your team)

What like the goal he scored against Man City? Average goal against an average team I suppose. The man has scored in 9 different games already this season across all competitions.

That doesn't make him essential mind you, that term has only been applicable to a handful of players over the last few years.

Maybe something on budget forwards since we'll need them with such heavy midfield. Berahino, Cisse, Sakho, Austin, Valencia, Kane, etc?
Who maybe the best option at different points in the season.

    Forster (Guzan)
    Skrtel, Chambers, Clyne (Duff, Wilson)
    Siggy, Sterling, Fab, ADM, Chadli
    Sakho, Costa, Pelle

    FT: 2 , ITB: 1.5

A bit help needed... thinking about getting Sanchez. One way would be Sterling -> Sanchez and Skrtel -> someone up to 5.2 . Who should that defender be? Or can you see better solution to bring in Sanchez? Or should I get rid of Costa instead?

I tried to fit them all in, with Aguero the last player I need... But I can't seem to find the funds anywhere. If you could say one out of that list wasn't as important who would it be?

In my case its Haz/Fab , out , but each to his own.
          Aguero would be first in

Yeh, I'm just not sure it's worth a Wildcard to reallocate funds and get him in...
            Squad looks like this:
            Krul, Foster
            Baines, Wisdom, Clyne, Caulker, Moore
Di Maria, Sanchez, Fabregas, Sigurdsson, Boyd
            Costa, Welbeck, Pelle
            1ft and 0.5

        If I did

        N. Taylor > Dummett
        Clyne > Yun
        Tadic > Downing

        I could then do

Sigurdsson > ADM giving me all 6 of those including Hazard over Fabregas.

This all done with an abysmal TV of £102.7m

Clyne is expendable when their fixtures toughen and N. Taylor is hardly essential and I can sell him for profit now.

This is also achieved with Harry Kane as my third striker. 😆

It's doable but the balance of the team becomes a bit fecked. I'm quite happy with having Aguero, Sanchez, Baines, Hazard at the moment and then still having the likes of decent mid priced options in Pelle, Welbz, Tadic, Clyne

      Forster 4.0
      Baines - Chambers - Wisdom - Dummett - Yun/Saylor

Too much money in that midfield needs a budget option

      This is controversial but:

Aguero should be the first name on everyone's team at this stage. Unreal form at the minute

    Hey SD, while you're here...

    A. Sterling & Welbeck ---> AdM & Sakho (-4)

WBA fixures don't look too friendly
AVL are in a very poor form
so i am leaning towards Krul, since they looke better in defence compared to the first gws and fixures don't look that bad.
